It’s not a big deal

December 7th, 2006

I pickedAriel up from preschool today and she was in the best, most polite mood.  She said "it’s not a big deal" a couple of times.  I wonder who she learned that from.  I wonder if someone is sending her messages spiritually or cosmically to tell me the things that are causing me stress are just not that big of a deal.  She also started saying "oh!  My fault!"    I’m lucky I have this 3 year old girl to remind me to calm down a little.

I am going to dinner tonight with friends.  I need a good couple of hours out with friends and food and drinks.   I’m lucky I have a husband who says "you need a good couple of hours out with friends and food and drinks.  Go early."  And he really means it.  (I’m also lucky to have those friends to go to dinner with)

I took these pictures ofRacecar today.  He’s so bright and amazing.  About 7 times a day he says "I want to sit on your lap."  I always oblige, pick him up and he just sinks into me.  These pictures remind me how precious he is.  I’m lucky to have this boy who wants to sit on my lap, but also lets me know that he needs time alone to be with his cars.  I totally understand.

He is wearing the same shirt at 13 months that he is wearing today. Same size. He wore a 3T at 13 months. This boy has really thinned out!

Heatwave

December 6th, 2006

It’s 36 degrees outside, it feels like 26. It hasn’t been this warm since early last week. I love it!

I tookAriel to the doctor today and she has a sinus infection. Poor girl. We took her to the doctor, back on November 18th, but the doctor said she just had a cold. I guess it progressed. The crazy thing about my little girl is that she always acts just fine when she is sick. Over the summer, I was sitting with her on my lap and I felt her forehead against my face and it felt like fire. I took her temperature and it was 105 degrees. I FREAKED. But she was fine. And these days, although sick, she plays and sings and dances, she sleeps well and she eats fine. Yet, she’s sick. I keep thinking about how whiny I would be with a sinus infection.

I have attached pictures from Brian’s Birthday last week. I made his cake with devil’s food cake mix, 1 can of diet coke and 2 egg whites. It was really wonderful, believe it or not, the cake tastes the same, seriously.

I was more tired today then yesterday, I had less energy and was moodier. Brian took the kids downstairs tonight, he cleaned and worked on computers while the kids played. I cleaned upstairs and listened to Christmas music. It was peaceful. Tonight I also weighed in for the month of December at a WW meeting and my weight dropped 1.6 lbs from November 8th. My weighed increased considerably over the past 30 days, so I’m pleased to be back on track.
Here are the pictures.

Anna diligently adding sprinkles to her Daddy’s cake. She tends to center them in a big pile in the middle of the cake.

Noah andAriel helping put candles in the cake.

Some very low candles…

About to sing! He’s 30!

Happily singing to their Daddy!

The cardAriel decorated for Daddy.

A big helper.

Hooray! Shoes! Why isn’tRacecar in these pictures? Because he’s busily playing cars, as shown in the lower righthand corner of the screen. Posted by Picasa

Feng Shui me, Baby

December 5th, 2006

We spent our weekend cleaning.  Rather, Saturday, we spend the day setting up our tree and making the rest of our house a complete and total disaster area and Sunday we cleaned.  My bedroom is the catch all for all things, if you walk into my house, you walk into my living room and my bedroom is directly to the left–everything seems to land in there.  On Sunday morning our bedroom held boxes of Christmas decorations, boxes of decorations I had taken down to make room for Christmas decorations, baskets of laundry, boxes of clothes from our basement cleaning project (2 boxes), our coffee table and all the rest of our shit that normally makes our bedroom just plain ol’ messy. DISASTER.  I spent the day thoroughly cleaning my room and the rest of the house.  Brian was very helpful.  We even took a van full of items to Goodwill last night.  I woke up this morning and felt…well…calm.  I guess the word "harmony" comes to mind.  I actually stayed in my jammies until 10am.  I kept my glasses on until 10am.   I sat at my computer this morning. (rather than standing at my computer)   I played with the kids.  It was blissful.  Truly!  I worked throughout the day to make my house even more harmonious, which was challenging considering I swear someone is paying my children to makes messes, but it has worked out okay.    Today I did laundry.  Lots of it.  Every article.  I’m fairly caught up so it only took me 4-5 loads to catch up.  I even hand washed my bras.  While I was hanging one to dry it got me to thinking…my $42 bra from Victoria’s Secret must be hand washed and hung to dry.  If you dare wash it, it will fall apart.  If you dare dry it, it will fall apart.  Believe me, I’ve had bras fall apart.  Once I returned one to the store after it fell apart and she said "are you hand washing it" and I said "yes" with my fingers crossed behind me.  She told me that many people put them in the wasing machine and they fall apart, mainly the underwires come out and poke you.  What the hell?  My confusion comes here, my sister, has owned the same damn bra for 12 years.  No lie.    She wears it very often, maybe even every day.  She washes it very frequently and dries it and it’s still in tact.  She may have paid $12 for it.   What is wrong with this picture?
Enough of my rant!
okay, I’m a liar.  One more rant.
I’m calling FOUL PLAY on Walmart.com.  FOUL PLAY BITCHES.  So, on Friday  I was doing some on-line shopping for the chickens.  They both happen to want this particular item.  Yes, we are getting one for each of them.    Well, it was on sale last week for $28.44, it was a promotional price through the end of day Friday.  Everywhere else, and I mean everywhere it was $39.99 and that is IF it was in stock.  So, I had the toys in my cart and I proceed to check out and I even selected my payment method when I decided to check on one more item.  I left my cart (apparently unattended) and returned 30 seconds later.  Literally.  Lo and behold, there is a problem with my order quantity.  They are now suddenly sold out.  I was hot friends, hot.  But, I also understand "you snooze, you lose."  (Although I don’t really see myself as snoozing, but whatever)  9 hours later, the very next morning, I go to Wal-Mart.com and they are no longer OUT OF STOCK, but now they are $39.99…
Interesting, no?
I’m ranted out.

I made a new recipe tonight, it was a Weight Watcher recipe called Chicken Parmigiana, it was good, very good.  Only 5 points for the chicken parm, I served it with a side of whole wheat rotini and veggies.  The best part of the recipe, is that nothing is fat free, so as a family, we all enjoyed the same meal, which is my goal in life!  Here’s the recipe for those interested!

A great quote from Buddha

December 4th, 2006
“Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn’t learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn’t learn a little, at least we didn’t get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn’t die; so, let us all be thankful.”
