Works for Me Wednesday

May 29th, 2007

Wfmwheader_4There is nothing better than the smell of fresh, natural lavender  growing in your garden.

I planted a small plant of lavender underneath my bedroom window a few years ago and when the wind blows in, the scent drifts into my bedroom.  It is amazing, the best, I recommend it to everyone.

Lavender is a very easy plant to care for and it’s inexpensive.  It is a perennial (comes every year), loves the sun and likes to be planted in well drained soil or even in a pot!  So, go to Lowe’s, pick up some lavender and enjoy it’s amazing, calming aroma.  Nothing is better than laying in bed at night after a long day of yelling at my kids and not folding laundry and smelling my lavender.

I love lavender. Last year I planted three varieties. I like the idea of planting by the bedroom though. Very smart.

I am SO gonna do this! I bought a couple of varieties a few years ago, but they didn’t make it. :(

You’ve inspired me to try again, though.

That sounds heavenly. I used to keep a lavendar sachet by my bedside and I’d rub it when I wanted to release the smell but I’d much rather have the real deal nearby. Thanks!

I read an article which said that planting lavender near a window deterred flying insects too.

My aunt is an aromatherapist (oilsscentsandmore.com) and a lavender fanatic. It has great healing properties too. Great idea putting it under your window!

Funny you should post this today…I seriously just planted a lavendar plant last night. I may need to go out and get some more to plant under the windows.

I have dried lavendar hanging from my lamp right next to my bed. Most nights, I pinch off a small bit, rub it between my fingers and the scent permeates our bedroom. It’s heavenly.

I don’t even know what one looks like, but I totally love that idea. Lavender is such a wonderful scent. Would it do good in part shade?

I never thought about planting nice smelling plants so the smell can waft into the home. I LOVE IT! I’m going to get some tomorrow.
