Dreamworld

October 7th, 2008

Ariel and Racecar have had a stinky, chesty cough for the past two weeks, then Ariel threw a fever into the mix yesterday, so today it was off to the doctor’s.  And now they are both on antibiotics.  And seeing has how my immune system has been on vacation since the beginning of August, I am now sick, too.

My symptoms started yesterday when my chest would hurt when I was coughing and also, I was so tired that it was all I could do to stay awake throughout the day and night.  I actually took two naps and laid in bed, ready for bed at 7:35 p.m.

But today, I feel worse.  And somehow?  I’m even more tired than before…so, in an effort for all of us sickies to get some rest, the kids and I are going to attempt a nap, like now.  For me, a nap is no big deal, I have mastered the art and can fall asleep in two minutes flat with my jeans and running shoes on.  It’s a talent, for sure.  The children, on the other hand, haven’t napped since May, so this should be interesting.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they get a little snooze in.  Which would be so dreamy.

And while I’m dreaming and trying my hardest not to fall asleep at any given moment, I have a dreamy question for you.  If you had four hours to yourself and your house was totally clean, your laundry was done, you have no errands to run and all food had zero grams of fat (hey, it’s a dream, BACK OFF.) what would you do with that time?  What would you eat?  Sleep?  Bathe?  I’m not sure what I would do, maybe lay on the couch and stare at the white ceiling and listen to nothing and eat peanut butter and jelly and LOADS of bug bites dipped in coffee.

and nachos.

and chocolate.  Lots of chocolate.

and pizza rolls.

*sigh* I love dreamworld.  What’s in yours?

I was take a bubble bath then curl up in my PJs with a bowl of icecream (topped with hot fudge, of course) and watch mindless TV. And I would probably have tortilla chips with melted cheese and a big glass of ice cold diet coke. And I would get to nap!

I would hang out in the blogosphere all day with a plate of french fries and a side of ranch (that never ran out) and a plate of pizza rolls as a chaser. A mini fridge stocked with diet ginger ale or 7-UP and AC/DC videos playing on YouTube in the background. I would have to get up for a minute to go answer the door because Publishers Clearing House would arrive to award me my One Million Dollar prize.

I would sit around and eat pizza rolls, and order books off Amazon. You did say we had money to spend in dreamworld…right?

I think I would read. Or write. And eat pizza, followed by rootbeer floats (yes, plural) and smile. I would definitely smile.

I would probably get in my most comfy clothes and read a really good book for 2 hours and maybe watch a chick flick for the other 2 hours. I would eat pizza, chocolate chips, chocolate covered pretzels and chocolate cake. Oh and drink tons and tons of Coke Zero! I gave it up a few months ago and I miss it terribly.

Hope you are feeling better soon!

First, I hope everyone gets better soon because it suck when everyone is sick including you.

Second, I like the sound of dream world. I’m in. I would sit somewhere relatively quiet (hammock between 2 really big trees in the middle of nowhere – well aside from having access to a fridge!) and alternate between napping at will, reading some unbelievably good book, and chocolate covered strawberries are sounding good right now.

Thanks for letting us join you in dream land!

I would scrapbook with my bowl of M&Ms and Diet Coke right beside me. Watching whatever I wanted to watch on tv – and it would have absolutely nothing to do with that darn mouse and Hannah Montana or Zach and Cody or….Sorry, I digress. I would have all the right stickers and papers readily available and the pages would just flow and the clock would tick oh so slowly so that my measly four hours would seem like forever!

Are you going to be ok to go tonight?

If I had that time to myself, I’d most likely crawl into bed and sleep the entire time!

4 blissful hours to myself? First, I would take lovely long hot bath with lots of steam. Then I would open my mailbox and find that same glorious six figured cheque everyone is talking about. Immediately following that I would go on a major online shopping spree. Pay my bills, buy a house and finsh it off with some good old reading and a nap. Ah what a lovely dream.

I hope you all are feeling better.

4 hours huh…wow! It would be nice to spend it with my children, with NOTHING to do…no games or practices to run to…no homework…nothing. We RARELY get that anymore…although we did spend an hour Monday night laying on the livingroom floor playing with balloons, just trying to keep them off the ground and laughing our butts off.

If it were just me alone (I’d probably go NUTS), but I’d like to take a bath. Maybe read a little, or watch a movie without any interruptions. I love to do puzzles, so maybe that too.

I love the movies, I’d probably go do that…and then a pedicure…while at the movies I’d eat a LARGE tub of popcorn, candy and have a REAL drink (smuggled in)…like beer or something.

I hope you and the kids feel better soon!
With 4 hours to kill, I would grab my big stash of magazines and read them from cover to cover and maybe a nap or two in between. Oh and with some vanilla ice cream to eat while I’m indulging in some good magazines. If I am out of good mags then I would read a good book. God only knows when a day like this will come but like you said one can dream!

The first thing that comes to mind for me is “be creative”. I would finish up sewing projects I have started, as well as do some scrapbooking, I think. My dreamworld would also involve lots of chocolate. Lots and lots of dark, dark, chocolate. And loud music.

    Exciting, isn’t it?

I’m in a different place with my children than you are. One (is 20) has moved out and one is 18 and a senior. I now have hours and hours to myself. I enjoy it sometimes but be careful what you wish for….sometimes it gets lonely too.
I can remember when my children were small I just wanted to be able to use the bathroom by myself…..
