Handmade Giveaway – Sister Sue

Sunday, November 23rd, 2008
By Beth

Because the economy is not doing too well, I thought it would be tons of fun to do some giveaways and profile some business owners from Etsy.  You have shopping to do?  Why not buy from someone who will benefit directly?

I am a HUGE fan of Etsy and get lost there like five times a week.  okay, okay, okay, A DAY.  Five times a day.  You busted me.

My friend, Jen, has a shop at Etsy called Sister Sue Designs and it’s so cute.  I am positively obsessed with anyone that can sew this good.  (or sew at all, for that matter.)   I’m pretty sure I’m going to go to her house for a week where she can teach me to sew.  Except I would just watch her, for an entire week.  Without sleeping.

Jen was encouraged by her friends a few years ago to start selling her products after they received handmade gifts from her.  They all saw the talent she possessed, but for years she was reluctant.  Luckily, her husband discovered Etsy and her shop has been open since March of this year.  Sister Sue already has products selling in stores in Tennessee and Austrailia.  I’m telling you…she’s that good.  I need to have her make me something and then sign it because she is going to be big.

Jen has generously offered to do a giveaway here at I Should Be Folding Laundry and it’s a very generous giveaway.

She makes toy blocks, bibs, diaper carriers, burp clothes and SHOES.  Shoes!  She can makes shoes!  and so much more.

Take a look at this stuff:

SEE?  What did I tell you?  You thought I was exaggerating the level of cuteness didn’t you?  pssshhhh…no way.

Today we are offering a $75 gift certificate (with free shipping) to Sister Sue.  (I’m so jealous of the winner, I can hardly take it.)

All you need to do is head over to Jen’s shop, tell me which product is your favorite and tell me in the comments section.  (get off of my back, I’m nosey, man.)

This giveaway is open to US residents only and will close on Wednesday, November 26th at 9:00 p.m.

You can also check out Jen at her blog: http://www.sistersuedesigns.blogspot.com/.  (which has a fabulous design, if I do say so myself.)

ENJOY & GOOD LUCK!  Shop homemade!

Sweet Hope

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008
By Beth

My friend Elle has this wonderful project that she does each holiday season to support adoption organizations.  I want to tell you about it because it’s so amazing and delicious.

There are so many of us that are completely untouched by adoption.  Many of you decide to have a child, you try to conceive, you get pregnant and then you can start the process all over again.  Your friends and family members are likely to be as fortunate as you.  But there are so many people who aren’t as lucky.

The reality is, not everyone is that lucky.  Many people begin the long journey of adoption, not only is it emotionally taxing, but the cost of adoption can cost more than you could ever imagine.  For some people, they can’t adopt simply because of the cost.  My niece and nephew are my niece and nephew because of adoption, I’m so thankful to have them in our lives, I love watching my sister-in-law and her husband as parents.  There is no doubt their children are meant to be their children.

So, when I read about Elle and learned about her sweet organization, Sweet Hope, I wanted to do more than just support the cause by buying a box of delicious truffles, I wanted to tell all of you about it.  And that’s why I am here today.

I invite you to head over to Sweet Hope and read about her cause.  I ask you to click the donate button and make your contribution.  Not only will you be making a difference by donating, but you’ll be receiving a box of HEAVENLY chocolate.

Also, if you purchase a box, come back here and tell me in the comments sections, you’ll be entered to win a Sweet Indulgence gift basket (pictured below)…I have four of them to give away, one can be for you, just for opening up your heart and your wallet and making a difference.

Adoption can be a long, lonely journey.  By you making your donation, you are making mothers and fathers everywhere feel not so alone.  Also, if you’re just not that into chocolate (what is wrong with you?) you can donate directly by clicking here.  Place your order by November 28th!  HURRY!

I look forward to hearing about your generosity!

ONE MORE THING, if you share Sweet Hope with your readers, let me know, I’ll be listing everyone who talks about Sweet Hope on their blogs right here on my blog!  SHARE THE LOVE, MAN!

Home Depot Giveaway

Friday, November 21st, 2008
By Beth

Happy Friday to you!  Just think, one week from today, you’ll be fighting for the last cart at Target, you’ll be flipping someone off for taking your parking spot and you’ll be sweating profusely as you wait in line for thirty minutes.

ah the joys of the Holidays.

But I’m here, with Home Depot, to make your Holiday a little bit BRIGHTER!

Have you seen the line of Holiday gift cards at Home Depot?  I bet you didn’t even know they had a line, but they do, oh yes, they do!

Just look at this one, isn’t it saucy?

And this one, well, it…it really just makes me very hungry.

ooooh, this one is very pretty.  I mean, manly.  VERY, VERY MANLY.

You get the idea, right?  Home Depot offers gift cards.  And they are really fun and creative, right?  GOT IT?

Good.

Because I am offering a $100 gift card for giveaway RIGHT NOW!  Oh yeah, I got the good stuff, just for you.  And friends?  I didn’t even get a $100 gift card, but one of you do.  (something is not right here…)  Just kidding, I love being able to host these giveaways to my readers.  I love you, remember?

So, here’s the thing.  If you want to win…DO NOT SAY “ENTER ME” or “PICK ME” IN THE COMMENTS.  I get tired of the same old boring comments, (yes, I read them ALL) I want you to tell me what you would buy from Home Depot if you won.  (you can use it for whatever you want if you win) but in order to win, I want to know how you would spend it on YOU.  Not Granddad or Uncle Remus, YOU.

k?

This giveaway is open to US residents.  One entry per person, please make sure your email is valid.  This contest end on Monday, November 24th at NOON.

THE WINNER IS CHOSEN RANDOMLY from random.org.

Good luck.

Two winners of Seal’s new album Soul and a set of iPod mini retro speakers from Delight.com…..

Theresa, who just commented on snow, but that’s okay!  She’s said:

Please enter me.  I’m jealous of how much snow you got; we only received a dusting. Didn’t stop the kids from trying to play in it.

And MamaLang, she said “I love him…he’s just so awesome!“  To which I reply…RIGHT ON, SISTER.

CONGRATS, GIRLS!

If you didn’t win, don’t despair, you still have more opportunities to win:

An additional giveaway that One2One Network is sponsoring for ALL of us, will have lots of winners.  The prizes are: 1st place=$200 gift card to Spafinder.com and Seal’s new CD, Soul; 2nd and 3rd place=$100 gift card to Spafinder.com and Seal’s Soul CD; 4th place Seal’s Soul CD (40 winners).  How everyone can enter this contest: embed the widget (link to widget below) on your blog or any social media site (the widget has easy peasy “get & share” instructions).  You get one additional entry for each location the widget is placed.  All entrants must email the url of the location they put the widget to me at arianne.segerman@one2onenetwork.com to be entered (you are entered by putting the widget in your review, and of course are welcome to additional entries the same as your readers).  Contest ends Dec 1st.

The widget is really cool, and plays two of Seal’s songs and the music video for each song.  The widget can be found here:  http://www.clearspring.com/widgets/490b6d3729deba87

On second thought…

Thursday, November 20th, 2008
By Beth

I know I promised you all of these crazy posts and giveaways, but I’ve been terribly sidetracked today with all of my work and well…Etsy.

Today has also been pretty exciting for me because something I wrote was published in a local parenting magazine.  It’s an article about pregnancy loss and it’s something I am very proud of, not just because I wrote it but also because it was hard for me, but I’m hoping it will help somebody.  You can read the article by going here and please, please tell me what you think.  Your words are very important to me.  The whole layout is missing on the webpage, but it’s really beautiful with actual pictures that were taken during that time.  I’ll have to take a picture of it and show it to you.

Also, I blogged over here about my relaxing evening.  Don’t be jealous.
