Ask me

December 29th, 2008

I am around except I am having a very difficult time posting here.  I do not have a lot of time and I’m feeling very down.  Which is confusing to me because we are having a great time with my family, all of us (about 25 people) are all staying in the same house.  I just don’t feel like me.  I’m pretty sure it’s because the last time we were here, I was pregnant with twins, we had announced it to my family while in this house, there are so many great memories here.  And now?

Every piece of this house is a reminder of that time.

Fortunately there is lots of alcohol to drink and many opportunities for naps, so it will be fine.  I will be fine.  (by the way, the best drink ever is creme soda with vanilla vodka…so delicious, you are welcome.)

So, I’m wondering if you want to help me?    How about we take this time for you to ask me something, anything, and I can answer your questions all this week while I’m away.  Deal?

Whatever you want to know, now is the time to ask.

I could ask a typical holiday question, like what is your favorite present? etc., but I won’t.

What is your pajama style? Are you a nightgown girl or long pants, flannels perhaps?

Also, because it is 2 p.m. and I need sleep, do you use an electric toothbrush or not?

Oooh, pillows – feather or synthetic?

I’ll check back after I manage a little siesta!

Do you like your new neighborhood?
Have you met my friend Christi?
How do you manage to balance so many things (this blog, other writing, blog design, photography, motherhood)?

I am wondering how you got to be such a great photographer. Did you take classes somewhere, or is it just something you have practiced and fiddled around with? I am always in awe of your photos.

    Holiday hugs to you!

What are your favorite holiday traditions? Are there ones from growing up that you have passed on to your family now? Did Ariel and Racecar get what they wanted for Christmas. Are they having fun with all their cousins? Oh, and drink up girlfriend. You deserve it!! Those angel babies are watching over you and you will be just fine. Just give yourself some time. Love you!!

Shallow question ahead: What was your favorite xmas gift that you received this year? Please note my caveat of “shallow”: this must be a material, physcial gift that you recieved. Describe it in explicit detail for us, so that we can vicariously receive this gift, too. (Er, I think I’m in teaching mode….) :)

Vanilla vodka also goes well with root beer. It was my drink of choice for awhile! I bet it tastes good with cream soda, though. Drink lots, because you definitely deserve it.
Okay, questions… If you had a day to do ANYTHING you wanted, time and money absolutely no object, what would you do?
Also, what’s your favorite lip gloss? (And if you don’t have one, I’m helping you find one because everyone needs a favorite lip gloss!)

Mix some eggnog with that vanilla vodka. Now *you’re* welcome. ;)

So, do you associate numbers with colours? Like 3 is blue, 4 is purple, etc.?

Hmmm… I am at this very moment planning a New Year’s dinner-sort-of-thing, very casual… for any of my kids who’ll be around… and I am focusing on traditional “good luck” foods for the New Year. Any suggestions?

Also, Barry and I will be doing the Polar Plunge on New Year’s Day in our very cold Narragansett Bay… bathing suits and all… we used to do it every year, but have missed the last 3 due to (oh, I don’t know…) maybe sanity! BUT WE ARE DOING IT! Jane may be joining us. Audrey… a big, resounding “NO, thanks.” Have you ever done a Polar Plunge or anything like it on New Year’s Day? What are your plans for this New Year’s Eve and Day?

I will be thinking of you… ! I did read that eating 12 grapes at the stroke of midnight guarantees a bountiful year. I will be doing this… maybe we can do it together half way across the country!

Oh… and I’ll be drinking beer.

Here’s a random question. I was talking to someone you know very well the other day (keeping her name private in case she doesn’t want me revealing this…) & we started talking about waxing. Waxing our upper lips to be exact. I haven’t done this yet, although at times I’m SURE I need it. I do the Nair thing instead. Anyway she does & was encouraging me to give it a try even though she admits to blurting out obscenities uncontrollable when it happens. What about you? How do you feel about having hair ripped off of your face using hot, gooey wax?

What’s your favorite Britney Spears song?

Is your second toe longer than your first?

When you do the hokey pokey what’s your favorite appendage to shake all around?

Do you know my friend Bart? He’s tall.

What color was the last horse you rode?

Which dance do you prefer, the chicken polka or the macarena?

As you can see I specialize in random. I hope you feel better. If you run out of vodka e-mail me and I’ll send you my recipe for bourbon slush. It’s always a hit at family gatherings.
