Last night we headed out to buy ourselves the perfect (FAKE) Christmas tree. It only took us three stores, which is a record, (A RECORD!) for us.  For the first time in my life, I just wanted a nice, basic tree.  And we found just that.

We bought one last year, but it was so big and annoying.  It didn’t help that last Christmas I was plagued with morning sickness all night long (when the Christmas lights were on) and the mere sight of it made me ill…very, very ill.  Needless to say, I had no desire, NONE, to put that tree up.  Not only did it annoy me, but it was just a reminder of last year.  Last year when everything was so beautiful, despite being so sick.  And despite having the most annoying tree ever.

Fortunately, I have the most patient, understanding and loving husband ever.  When we purchased the tree last year, it was THE TREE!, the one to LAST TEN YEARS!  Except, oops, stuff happens, right?  I’m so lucky he loves me as much as he does.

So, today we are busy putting up fake trees all over the house and lighting candles and playing music.  Doesn’t that sound romantic?  It would be more romantic, except I have a stiff neck, but who needs a good neck in order to have fun, right?
