Winners

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008
By Beth

First, I updated my holiday tour post with some pictures.

and also, I have some winners to announce.

The winner of Unscripted, Patrick Dempsey’s new fragrance is Samantha (no blog, gmail email), she said “Wow. The scent sounds amazing! All my favorite notes, in an unusual composition. Fingers crossed and husband’s neck at the ready. Thanks for sharing the wealth!“  Check your email, Samantha.

And the three winners of the Poingo’s are:

Heather, who said “Oh boy, I’m not even close to being done with shopping. At least I think I’m not but I really need to pull out the stuff I have from the closet and make a list. That’s the worst part about starting early…you either get a false sense of security or you forget what you’ve got. I did both.”

Jodie B., who said “For the first time ever, I’m done with my shopping! I’m so proud of myself. We’re usually shopping Xmas Eve to get everyone done! Now I can relax, which makes me very happy! Oh…..I forgot, I have kids. So much for the relaxing! ”

And Kira G., who said “Shopping – 80% done  Decorating – 100% done  Christmas Cards – 100% done  Baking – 10% done  Cleaning – BIG FAT 0%!  I figure I might as well save the cleaning until the day before the guests get here, otherwise my 3 rowdy dirty boys will undoubtedly trash the place anyway and I’ll just end up cleaning twice.”

Congratulations, everyone!

My land of holiday – updated

Monday, December 15th, 2008
By Beth

(to those who have been on the tour already, I added pictures of the outside down below)

Happy Holidays, everyone!  Welcome to my home, it’s a new house, we like it here.  So, keep your shoes at the door, k?

Let me show you around.  BUT FIRST…let me warn you that this will probably be the most boring tour listed over at BooMama’s.  I didn’t realize just how boring it was going to be until I took one picture and thought…Okay, I’m done.

But fortunately, I walked around a little more and found a few more pieces of the holidays for you.

So, let’s get started.  Can I get you anything?  Some chili?  Some chocolate?  A blanket?  A nap?  Here at my house, we love naps.  We also love cake.

Here’s my nativity set.

Here’s a close up for you.  I’m all about hospitality.

Can you believe how cute this snowman is?  It’s from a gift exchange…Crooked Eyebrow picked it out.

This is what it looks like when you walk into my house during the day.  See the kids in the background?  Yep, they’re playing video games.  Nothing says home like The Wii.  Am I right or am I right?

Here’s the entry way at night.  I’ve never had a banister before.  And that little tree?  That was my Christmas card tree last year, but since I have 7,291,432 ornaments, I really needed that extra tree for the ornaments.  So, I hung my cards on a ribbon on the wall.  See them on the left?  If I buy any more ornaments I’ll be hanging them on the kids.  Which would be a little bit cute, really.

And my mantle.  I’ve never had one of those either, I’m pretty sure the banister and the mantle are the reasons why we bought the house.   The stockings are new and the rest of my mantle was inspired by The Nester, except it looks like nothing The Nester would do.  I’m hoping next year, she’ll just come to my house directly and decorate because nobody does it like The Nester.  Well, I’m sure somebody does it like The Nester, I just don’t.

Here’s my living room at night:

And my most favorite wreath in the entire universe:

I have some lights up outside, but last night it was raining and rain and my camera just do not get along.  So, I’ll add more pictures tonight.  or tomorrow…

____________

*It’s me again!  Here are additional pictures for you.  The first one is of the tree for Ariel’s room, which may look misshapen and a little drunk, but that’s okay.  Drunk is good.

And here’s Racecar’s, not as misshapen as Ariel’s, but definitely still drunk.

And our house.  I asked our lighting engineer, Brian, to climb up on our roof and hang lights and he just stared at me and may have called me an idiot.  I’m not sure.

Thanks for stopping by.  I loved having you here, this is my third year participating and each year it’s just as fun as the last!  Thank you, BooMama!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Love, your best friend,

Beth

Where I’ve been

Sunday, December 14th, 2008
By Beth

Since the memorial service I’ve been to Chicago, Michigan, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Louisville, Indianapolis and Philadelphia.

But I haven’t gone back to church since walking out of the doors on that sad day on March 1.  And yes, we went to church nearly every Sunday before that.

Today marks one year since finding out the little baby in my belly was actually two little babies inside my belly.  That day, that started out like any other, turned out to be one of the the greatest days of my life, knowing the gift we had been given.  Twins. I still can not believe it.

Even though they are not with us today, I still believe those identical twin boys were among the four greatest gifts I have been given in my life.  I thank God for them everyday, for the gift they are, the love they have shown us.

I know today is going to be really hard, but I’m also hoping that today we also remember not just the sadness of it all, but also how exciting those days, weeks, months were following December 14th, 2007.  They were amazing.

I’ll start out by remembering it all while at church this morning.  I’m scared, my heart is racing, I’m probably sweating where I normally don’t sweat, but that’s okay, I’ve got a strong team by my side.

But hey, if you’ve got a spare prayer or positive thought just lying around, feel free to send it in my direction.   I know I could use it.

For the birds

Friday, December 12th, 2008
By Beth

Back when we were landscaping, Sharon recommended planting winterberries.  And I listened and now my birds have something to eat during the winter and I have something beautiful to look at in the dead of the winter.

That makes me so happy.  You should always, always listen to Sharon.
