I’m not going to lie to you. I have had some difficult moments during these past few days getting ready for Christmas; moments of disbelief, moments of pain, moments of intense prayer.
I could go on and on with you about how much we wish James and Jake were celebrating their first Christmas with us this year, or how beautiful (and beautifully complicated) or family of six would have been in our Christmas photo.
But instead…I just want to remember the memories. The wonderful, specific memories of telling family our (beyond) exciting news that we were expecting twins. We waited until the holidays to tell everyone and it was totally worth the wait. The laughter, the tears, the amazement, it was all just so special.
I am grateful for those moments. Even though they bring me sadness, they also bring me joy.
And I love me some joy.
We have had some great times so far this holiday season. Ariel and Racecar LOVE Christmas, having children in the house just make things more magical, doesn’t it?
Last week was Racecar’s Christmas program, check him out in the middle singing:

And a beautiful scene at the program:

My two angels here on earth:

On Sunday we constructed our first Gingerbread house. I had never done one before. Thank goodness for kits. We had SO much fun!

Ariel drinking her hot cocoa, dressed and ready for some gingerbread house making!
This weekend we let the kids watch Elf for the first time. Needless to say, they loved it and we watched it three times in a 24 hour period. Also needless to say? That I fell asleep moments after this picture was taken.

And a trip to see Santa last night:
Whew. I’m wiped out just looking at these pictures.
Already, this season, we’ve had a great Christmas and the day hasn’t even arrived, yet.
I wish you all a memorable holiday, filled with JOY, LAUGHTER, HUGS and LOVE. Lots and lots of love.
Merry Christmas.

Beth- Racecar gives his all. Ariel is an angel. And I LOVE that photo on the couch. You are so blessed. I am thinking of you and James and Jake so much today!

Dear Beth… It is almost impossible to believe that last Christmas I didn’t know you, and this Christmas it seems I’ve known you forever. Through the greatest joy and the greatest sorrow… you’ve never lost your greatest gift – love. I wish you and your family the most blessed and peaceful and happy holiday, with bounty and peace and love in the New Year. You are my hero.
Much love,
Sharon

Such beautiful photos of such beautiful kids. You’ve been on my mind these past days more than usual. I am thankful you’ve had a great deal of joy alongside the inevitable sorrow. You do a really admirable job of letting them reside together in your big, loving heart.

Wow … great pictures! And the one of you on the couch with the kids … well, YOU look so HAPPY. And that is one great picture for the scrapbook. Your kids will love that when they’re older.
I’m sure this holiday was hard but it’s good to see that you still try to enjoy everything around you. Hope you had a merry Christmas! God bless you and your family!
