I’m not going to lie to you.  I have had some difficult moments during these past few days getting ready for Christmas; moments of disbelief, moments of pain, moments of intense prayer.

I could go on and on with you about how much we wish James and Jake were celebrating their first Christmas with us this year, or how beautiful (and beautifully complicated) or family of six would have been in our Christmas photo.

But instead…I just want to remember the memories.  The wonderful, specific memories of telling family our (beyond) exciting news that we were expecting twins.  We waited until the holidays to tell everyone and it was totally worth the wait.  The laughter, the tears, the amazement, it was all just so special.

I am grateful for those moments.  Even though they bring me sadness, they also bring me joy.

And I love me some joy.

We have had some great times so far this holiday season.  Ariel and Racecar LOVE Christmas, having children in the house just make things more magical, doesn’t it?

Last week was Racecar’s Christmas program, check him out in the middle singing:

On Sunday we constructed our first Gingerbread house.  I had never done one before.  Thank goodness for kits.  We had SO much fun!

This weekend we let the kids watch Elf for the first time.  Needless to say, they loved it and we watched it three times in a 24 hour period.  Also needless to say?  That I fell asleep moments after this picture was taken.

Whew.  I’m wiped out just looking at these pictures.

Already, this season, we’ve had a great Christmas and the day hasn’t even arrived, yet.

I wish you all a memorable holiday, filled with JOY, LAUGHTER, HUGS and LOVE.  Lots and lots of love.

Merry Christmas.
