It’s a very strange thing not waking up on your birthday with your family. I am a family-birthday-tradition kinda girl.
So, this being my first birthday not waking up with some member of my family?
A little strange.
Also? On each birthday I cry, except last year. Last year was the first year I didn’t cry. I can remember the evening vividly. Brian, the kids and I, all met our real estate agent at our dream house before going to dinner with my parents.
We had found the house that would fit the babies in my belly, Ariel and Racecar, my husband and I, for a very long time. We bought the house in July.
During the day, the kids and I had lunch with my soul sister, it was a great day. I can remember laying in bed and just feeling so fulfilled and so hopeful.
This year, I’ll probably cry. Not because I don’t feel fulfilled, because even though this year has been, well, this year, I still have more blessings than I can count. Now, more than ever, I realize the fragility of these blessings. I know what I have and it’s all I want.
So for MY birthday, think about all YOU have, be grateful, roll around in it.
Count your blessings.

Wish I could have said it to you in person. I had to cancel my trip to blissdom at the last minute due to the loss of an old friend. I had everything ready and paid for, but wanted to say a proper good-bye. and this past week, with his loss, truly has taught me to count my blessings and give thanks everyday!

Happy Birthday Beth. I am so glad you took the trip.Until I saw it was your birthday and the date today I had forgotten it is my birthday in a few days. I cannot say I am glad to be this age but I am thankful that I am here at all and for all the blessings God has given to me.Thank you for the reminder to be grateful. I wonder how I can be so blind some days as to not notice it.I hope you get to laugh alot. Time away with girl friends is always a healing thing for me. Oh, and I love the shoes.

Today started out rough but after reading this, I decided to “roll around in my blessings” even amidst a 1-year Army deployment. We are halfway thru and I’m tired and losing patience with my 3 blessings. I’m striving to find joy even in the hectic, chaotic times. Thanks again. Hearing your story of coming to blissdom makes me even more impressed. I too have had a miscarriage and I know how emotional that time is.
