American Idol – Top Nine

March 31, 2009 | Filed Under American Idol | 20 Comments

I honestly have no idea what the theme is for this week.  Racecar spilled his Teddy Grahams (for the fourth time tonight) on the couch and while I was helping him clean them up, I lost track of American Idol and I’m too lazy to rewind it.

Anoop Desai - something by Usher – I’m going to just say this, I think Anoop is a little flat in this performance, BUT for the first time I can see him on stage as a top 40 artist with this performance.  I have a feeling the judges will not agree with me because Brian hated this performance.    Simon thought it was a mess.  Whatevs.

Ariel just asked when bikini girl was going to come back.  Apparently she’s bored.  Why yes, I am dismayed that BIKINI GIRL has had a positive impact on my six year old’s life.

Megan Joy – I DREAD THIS PERFORMANCE, from her voice to the way she shimmies (or whatever that is.)  Turn Your Lights Down Low – She’s singing now which means I am cringing because OHMYGOSH THEHORRORTHATISTHISPERFORMANCE.  Just focus on her pretty teeth, Beth, don’t listen to the voice or watch the crazy “dancing,” just look at her teeth.

whew.  It’s over.   Kara said her voice was “almost irritating” which is oh, so true.

Danny Gokey - What Hurts the Most – I really liked this performance.  I thought it was a very heartfelt performance and I’ve never heard the song before.   It was nice to see him do something different tonight, I can feel his passion.   Love him.

Allison Iraheta - Don’t Speak – I can’t believe her voice is this amazing AND she plays the guitar AND she’s only 16.  Her hair is kri-zay-zee, but so uber-hip.  Are those zippers on the front of her dress or 75,000 little buttons?  I love the way she is singing this song and changing it up and it went by WAY too quickly.  She should be allowed to sing twice.  Am I right or am I right?

The judges hate her outfit, but I have a question…doesn’t someone dress THEM?

Scott MacIntyre is coming up, I have just one question, do you have a blanket and a pillow?  cuz it’s naptime, friends!

Scott MacIntyre - I Love You Just the Way You Are – His hair is very, very tall tonight.  I did not like this performance, probably because this song is boring and it annoys me.

But oh crap, Kara likes it.  And Paula is most proud of him.  And she’s also extremely dumb.  Just in case you forgot. Simon says it was his best performance.  Randy said “one of the best of the night.”

Why am I so not intrigued with this guy like everyone else?

Matt GiraudYou Found Me – I like his hair tonight.  I’m not sure what I think of this performance.  I’m confused because it’s a good song and I think it’s fitting for him, but I feel like his vocals are just not very strong tonight, sometimes flat, sometimes shaky.  But then again, sometimes he sounds great.  so…I don’t know.  I’m confused and now I’m glad it’s over because my head hurts from all of the confusion.

Paula is speaking and why does she have a 1 second pause between EVERY….SINGLE….WORD….SHE….SAYS….errrrrrrrrrrr…sheisdumb.

Lil Rounds - I Surrender – I’m feeling saucy tonight, I’m just going to say what you’re all thinking…baby’s got back.  And I’m insanely jealous.  Her voice sounds really great tonight.  That makes me happy because I love Lil.

Simon said it sounded like a wedding performance.  huh? wha? I do sorta wish she had sung “one” by U2.  Great song that that is.  Good suggestion, Simon.

Adam “sirscreamsalot” LambertPlay That Funky Music – Look kids!  It’s Amanda Overmyer!  (I know many of you love him!  and it’s okay to disagree with me in the comments, just don’t call me fat or a hippie or anything.)  I actually really liked the song until he did that screaming crap.  I can’t handle that noise.  And yes, I realize I sound like an 80 year old woman, but that’s okay with me.

I’m sitting here thinking, will this guy EVER make it in the Top 40 if he wins this competition? Can you imagine listening to that screaming while driving home from a stressful day at work?  I would pull the radio out of my car and throw it out the window.  No lie.

Kris AllenAin’t No Sunshine – Well, I’m a fan of Kris’s, so I really enjoyed this performance.  I thought it was pretty sexy if you ask me.  Could have been better without a shirt on, but you know, it’s a family show.  LOVED this performance.  My favorite of the night.  GO HOT GUY GO!

My favorite of the night – Kris Allen

Shredding

| Filed Under Shrinking Jeans, Weight Loss | 21 Comments

Today marks the last day that I’ll be able to move my legs, arms, head, fingers, toes and butt without saying the words “ow, shit, OHMYGOD and I’m going to die” with every  movement I make.

I have committed to doing the 30 Day Shred Challenge starting tomorrow.  I’m doing it for me, but friends, I’m also doing it for you.  I know there are so many of us who want to lose weight, who need to lose weight, that look in the mirror and cringe at the site of sagging skin and larger than life love handles.  So, I’m hoping that through all of my sweat, swearing and soreness that I’ll be able to inspire and motivate those of you who have not taking care of THEMSELVES for way too long.

I’ve taken my measurements (heaven help me) and I will be taking my before picture (ew) and I’ll be sharing this information with all of you.  Then in 30 days, after completing the challenge, I’ll be sharing my results with you.  and when that day comes, I’m hoping to be a lot thinner, a lot stronger and a whole lot happier with myself.

But guess what?  You can do this with me!  The sisters at the Sisterhood are giving away SEVEN copies of Jillian Micheal’s DVD right now.  The giveaway is open for only 24 hours, so head over there right now!  RIGHT NOW, I SAY!

I hope to be shredding & losing with you soon!

Do you have no idea what the 30 Day Shred is?  I’ll give you a hint, a 30 day challenge, 20 minutes per day and you will be sore, very, very sore.   Head over to the giveaway to find out more!  Good luck!

Handmade Inspired {easter edition}

Finding Easter products on Etsy has been so much fun.  I had to share some of the amazing finds that I came across with you.

Easter Collage handmade inspired 2

a.  Easter Bunny signature rubber stamp, $6.99.  Love this.  My daughter is the most observant child I have ever come across, I hesitate to write on anything from Santa, the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy because this girl notices everything.  This stamp would be a huge help in this house.
b.  This card, $4, has my vote for the best Easter card ever.  This shop has a huge selection of creative cards for all occasions, be sure to check them out.

a.  I am in love with these ties.  Most moms of boys always feel like boys’ clothing is nothing short of boring.   I’m so pleased that I found this shop.  I sat down with Racecar and let him choose between the tie and the bowtie, he chose the tie and then he got to choose which style.  He chose the blue with the light blue circles.  He’s so excited.  (and so am I!)

I adore this shop. SAVE! The shop owner is generously offering all of YOU free shipping.  Just enter “I Should Be Folding Laundry” in the message to seller section, shipping fees will be refunded via Paypal.  The entire shop is filled with wonderful products for boys and for girls, it’s a must see!

b.  This bunny ($24) is too cute to pass up.  Not your run-of-the-mill fluffy Easter Bunny, just your simple bunny that looks so easy to love, don’t you think?

c.  Adorable Easter tags – 4 for $1.75.  The entire shop is just plain fun.

d.  The eggs you see in that picture?  Are REAL eggs!  This seller sells Silk Dyed Easter Egg kits – $8.  So clever, so cute.

e.  This little birdhouse (a steal at $2.75) is actually a gift box, perfect for holding jelly beans or Hershey Kisses, or both!   Isn’t it adorable?  I ordered three.

f.  Finger puppets, $5.  These are the cutest little things and you won’t believe all of the different colors and different types of finger puppets this shop has available. (this raccoon just makes me happy.)

g.  How could I have an Easter Edition post without a basket?  I love the style of this basket and I love the price, $12.  The shop offers this basket in many different fabrics.

h.  It was hard for me not to buy this bird ($24) that has the word “joy” etched in the center.  A perfect place to rest my rings at night, a perfect bird to rest on my dresser.  It’s on my growing  list of “what to buy Beth for Mother’s Day.”  I love Mother’s Day.

Many of these shops guarantee shipment before Easter as long as your order THIS WEEK, so get busy and start shopping!

The party went extremely well, it was so much fun and was a great success.  Also, I met Natalie.  Natalie who reads my blog and lives in my area and came to the party where I met her for the first time.  I love her bravery and she’s also incredibly sweet, too.

At the last minute, my sister, Sarah, who lives in Louisville, came to my house on Friday night with her two kids.  We’ve been visiting all weekend with her and with friends and it’s been such a wonderful weekend.

Last night, Steph, Erin and Arianne came over and we were up so late.  At about 2:15, I finally fell asleep.

At 4:47 in the morning, our doorbell rang and someone was banging on our front door, the sounds jolted Brian, Sarah and I from our sleep.  A police officer was at our door, he told us that someone had broken into the two cars in the drive way.  As I scurried around looking for a coat and shoes, all I could picture was broken windows and stolen items.  With my sister heading home today, I worried about how she was going to take the trip home with broken windows.

I was more than relieved to see that the jerks had just opened up the doors and did not break any windows.  Apparently, they combed through our neighborhood searching for unlocked doors and helped themselves to other people’s belongings.  Fortunately, through the entire neighborhood, all they took was my sister’s GPS system and Brian’s cell phone.  Unfortunately, they took my sister’s GPS system and Brian’s cell phone.

The only reason my sister’s doors were unlocked was because we carried in a ton of groceries in the pouring rain and forgot to go back and lock the doors.

A neighbor was driving home and saw the suspicious behavior and called the police.  I’m so glad that neighbor was alert and called the police.

So anyway, that pretty much sucks and now I am feeling insecure about my neighborhood and I also want to punch the tool who did this, but I know that what goes around comes around, so I just need to trust in that.

Now I’m just so tired and am about to take a delicious long nap.

How about some pictures to lighten the mood?

These shots were talking while going for a walk with the kids at a local nature preserve.  The weather and the photo ops were perfect.

I practiced “flare” and came out with this shot.  I consider it a big success!

And this is my niece, Mary.  She was eating powdered donuts.  She loves powdered donuts.  And I love her.
