American Idol Recap, 24 hours late

March 18th, 2009

Let me start out by saying that Randy Travis and I have a deep history.  Get me drunk enough and I’ll sing you just about every song he has.  Okay, you don’t even need to get me drunk.  Just turn him on and I’ll starting singing.  yee haw.

And yes, I know I’m a night behind, but I started watching this and thought “hey!  Why not live blog it?!”  Even though it’s not LIVE per say and many of you know the results right now, I just wanted to share.  k?

Michael Sarver – I thought he was out of breath throughout the song.  That’s all.

Allison Iraheta – I love her so much.  She reminds me of my niece which makes me love her even more.   I can not believe she is so young.  She did look awfully red tonight, but that’s okay.  I like red.

Kris Allen - There is something about this beautiful, hot and talented boy that I positively adore.  I could stare at him and listen to him for days and days.  He is perfection.  Well, at least tonight he was.  Maybe next time he’ll take his shirt off.

I will be buying that song.

Lil Rounds – Let me start out by saying I love her and I have that her name is Lil and I love that her bottom is so big.  I mean, I don’t LOVE it, I’m just intrigued and probably jealous.  She sounds a little flat and boring.  But in the middle of the song she is sounding MUCH better.  I loved the last note.  She’s fab.

When the judges say it’s an ambitious choice, it always confuses me because shouldn’t their choice be ambitious?

I could watch Simon act like Paula is an idiot for four hours each week alone, no singing necessary.  Simon calling Lil Little is FREAKIN’ HILARIOUS.

Adam Lambert - Heaven help me.  Please don’t hate me but I do not like this cat at all.  In all seriousness, you can’t tell me that he’s not the male version of Amanda Overmyer.  It’s totally the truth.  Is he gay?  Is he totally manly?  Is he a peacock?  Is he Elvis?  I really want to put barrettes in his bangs.

Randy Travis “I don’t even know what to say about this boy.”  Love Randy Travis.  And I don’t know what to say about him either.  Now Adam is singing Ring of Fire which I love because hello?  JOHNNY CASH.

Oh, Amanda.  I mean, Adam.  I don’t like this version at all.  He IS a good singer, though.

Paula is talking and now I want to put forks in my eyes.  Simon says “indulgent rubbish.”  Right on, brother.  (P.S. I know lots of people love him and I’m sorry that I do not.  But OHMYGODIDONOT.)

Scott McIntyre – Did Scott get a haircut and a new hair color perhaps?  He looks particularly handsome tonight.  I like Scott, but I don’t think he’s the greatest singer in the world, I think his voice is pretty shaky.   I still like him, though and I love his piano playing.

Paula talkingblahblahdumbblahargh.  Now Simon and Paula are arguing.  Cara said “you bring class and poise onto the stage” and I agree.  But I thing his days are numbered.

Alexis Grace – She’s cute.  She does have a good voice but I felt like the song was missing something.  Maybe some harmony or something?  It’s such a dramatic song and it felt so…sterile, maybe boring.

Paula is dumb.  The End.

Danny Gokey – I think it’s so cool that someone is covering someone’s song that was on Idol.  The chorus of this song is really great, Danny is so incredibly powerful.  He IS powerful.

I’m pretty sure Paula took a dumb pill tonight.  (by tonight I do mean every night.)  And does she really have to show so much boobage?  (I promise I won’t talk about Paula this much every time I do this.  But I probably will so you’ve been warned.)

Anoop Desai – (sidenote: I think Randy Travis should do this every week.)  Anoop’s voice sounds so velveety and beautiful to me tonight.  I love this performance.  I want to marry it.  or maybe just download it.  This is the  best I’ve heard him sing.

ZERO TO HERO! Loved that.  Hearing positive feedback from Simon makes me happy.

Anoop is dang cute.

Megan Joy – Oh my gosh, her dress is positively atrocious.  Are those baseballs in her bra?  I am not enjoying this.  She needs to leave.  RIGHT. NOW.  Maybe I’m crazy because I grew up listening to Patsy Cline, but this crap is just not working for me.  and that  little spin/curtsy she keeps doing?  Makes me want to bang my head against the computer.

And the judges love her.  Is there something wrong with me?  Oh, Brian loves her, too, because THERE ARE BOOBS.

Matt Giraud – He sounds good.  I enjoy his voice and I think he has soul.

My best for bottom three – Megan Joy, Scott MacIntyre, Alexis Grace.  or Michael Sarver.

Yes, that’s four.  Leave me alone.

(just watched the results show…BTW.)

Did you just about die when Paula told Scott that he needed to get up from behind the piano? Um, Paula? Yeah, he’s blind. You know you’re a jackass when Simon tells you you’re insensitive.
It was almost as good as when Ryan tried to give him a high five during auditions.

Mmm…I think you’ve got it wrong with Megan. She’s not my favorite, but I really thought she did well last night. She was sort of singing it in an Amy Winehouse sort of vibe. *shrug* I liked it.

I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts after you see the results show. :)

I just got done watching both episodes. I think Anoop was smooth is butter. LOVED him. His song was my fave. Liked Chris, Danny, Megan, and Matt. And I loved Megan’s dress.

I thought Adam’s performance was bad and over-the-top, but is it strange that I find him very hot?! And I cannot decide if he is gay or not. I’m going to go with bi.

Too funny! I agree on Adam. Totally odd dude. Was disappointed to see Alexis go. I like her. I don’t care for Michael. Nice family guy…blahblahblah…but, not an exciting performer. Looking forward to more recaps from you!

I agree with you on Megan and Adam. I thought his performance the other night was terrible and a little scary! I wasn’t too upset to see Alexis go.

Beth! You crack me up! I DVR’ed the show and watched it last night so I could fast forward through all of Paula’s speaking parts. Seriously! She hurts my brain and makes me want to reach into the TV to clonk her upside the head. I don’t know how the other judges stand her ramblings. It’s crraaazzy!

As for Adam: scarey and downright freaky. Johnny Cash has now heard it all and he’s not happy.

I liked Alexis and thought Scott should go. He’s just not the best vocals in the group and it is a singing competition.

You nailed Megan. And Simon wants to. Nail her, that is. I think she is beautiful and lovely, but she cannot sing. Barry, Jane and I were watching Tuesday night, and we all turned away in discomfort… like, oh no, they are going to nail her with criticism.

But no. Maybe they all want to nail her. Really.

OMG… I cannot stand Megan!!! Every time J and I see her we both agree that she is horrible, but he ALWAYS has to point out that she is really pretty… lol.

My favea right now are Anoop and Allison!

    so funny…

i LOVE randy travis, too. i’m not all country, but my parents definitely gave me an appreciation for it…and a LOVE for randy & george strait.
look heart, no hands is one of my all time favorite songs.

paula and her pill…lol….seriously what is she on?!

i CAN’T STAND adam lambert either. ugh!

i love danny & agree w/ you about kris!

the only thing is i do like megan. i love her tone & yeah, she’s quirky, but i like it. =)

I am glad I found your blog…I like hearing what other Idol fans have to say every week. But you and I are total opposites! I think Adam is very original and he’s not afraid to be himself and the same for Megan. Those two, Allison and Danny are my top 4. I don’t care too much for Anoop, I find him boring. I like people who are different and take risks by doing something original and being themselves. I was a huge Amanda fan last year…plus she’s from my hometown!

It’ll be interesting to see what happens this season!

Thank you for putting words to the negative feelings that I have for Adam Lambert. Ick!

I think we are on the same page with the rest of the contestants as well. I wanted to DL Kris’s song today. Thanks for the reminder. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the shirtless performance next week. ;)

Your comments are awesome – especially the baseball boobs – I thought they looked quite round and awkward as well. At least she didn’t start crowing like a bird again.

And I couldn’t pinpoint who Allison reminded me of and you completely nailed it – that is your niece! Wow.

Danny and Matt are my favorites and I can totally see them going head to head.

Where to start. First of all, Adam as Amanda, LOVE IT! HA HA HA! But him, can’t stand him, at all. I think it’s more is attitude than his look.

Kris, oh yes, wonderful signing tthe other night. I melted right there.

I love Anoop, I’ve loved him since the beginning. I think it’s his energy and “realness.”

And lastly, I DO NOT get the whole Megan thing. As far as I’m concerned she’s sung the same song every week, standing behind the mircophone doing her little sway. Hate it. And I’m sure Simon likes her boobs, but c’mon the girl CANNOT sing or dance, obviously.

    Ok, think I’m done. : )

I’ve said this before, but Adam reminds me of Christian Siriano from Project Runway fame, but Adam is the taller, steroid version. I kept waiting for Adam’s eyes to turn red and for Satan to appear on stage while he was singing that horrific song. It was creepy beyond words.

Megan bugs me too. She over-enunciates the lyrics! Drives me absolutely crazy.

First off, according to my American Idol finatic inlaws, Adam has admitted on TV (or somewhere) that he IS gay. Which I had no doubt in my mind about that one.

His performance of Johnny Cash made me cringe. My husband and I are 25 and 27, and we are Johnny Cash fans. And it just so happens that my husband’s fave song at the moment is “Ring of Fire”. I thought that he was going to cry watching that performance. He really screwed up a good song.

I was VERY sad to see Alexis go. She was my favorite. I was hoping that they would see Michael Sarver home. I think that he stayed because people voted for him because he remembered all of the words.

I HATE Megan. HATE. Her dress was awful, that swinging thing that she does during her songs makes me want to puke, and I just can’t stand her.

I do love Allison, so now that Alexis is out, I am rooting for Allison.

I really like Meagan. I like her different voice, her tattoo sleeve and everything. ;) I also like Danny. Those are my two favorites. Although, I don’t think Meagan will make it too far. I hope Danny does. He has a great voice. Feels like I’m at church…just one of those powerful church voices, but with a cool and radio friendly edge. lol

I must like he/shes or weird because I LOVE Adam.
    Megan annoys me too.
Michael Surber (whatever his name is) I wish he’d open his mouth when he sang maybe then we would hear him, understand him and like him a little more.
    Allison rocks.
Matt…oh my heart sings…give him a little more upper lip and I might be swooning.
    Scott *yawn*
    Danny He is good.

Anoop. Anoop. Anoop Dog. I adore him.

I know it’s not everyone but overall, I think it is a good group this year.

The judges save is STUPID…but whatever.

And I’m glad YOU’RE a Randy Travis fan, because honey, SOMEONE has to be ;)

I am laughing hysterically at this because I have searched for someone, anyone, who will agree with my points of view regarding american idol this week and it just wasn’t to be found – until now. Right down to the ridiculous baseball boobs. WTH were those??? Ridiculous!

    Thanks for the laugh!

OMG. Even though I don’t agree with you on everyone, I still LOVE reading your American Idol recaps. TOO FUNNY!!! Even though I love Adam (thankfully people can’t throw things at me through a computer) what you said about him was HILARIOUS!! Barretts??? LOL LOL I actually do think he’s bi, like Melissa said. But he’s very talented. I accidentally told Amber that you thought she looked like What’s-her-name, and she wished I hadn’t told her that. Love Danny, love Kris, love Anoop, Megan? Eh. Scott? eh. …..Michael? He can go.

I am so glad that I’m not the only one who thinks Adam Lambert needs to go HOME! He drives me nuts with the screaming and tongue sticking outness. Ugh.

I like Megan, but I just don’t think she is diverse enough for this competition. And the twirlie thing, yeah, drives me batty.

I didn’t get to even see Adams performance, but I’ve heard lots about it.

I also didn’t get to see the results show, so who went home?

Girl…you crack me up! I’m SO GLAD someone else said something about Paula’s boobs. My husband said “did she just get a boob job or something…she’s really showing them off.” All I could say when she came out was GEEZ PAULA. Anyhow, I agree with you a lot, except I love Megan Joy, and Anoop Dog…he’s so stinkin cute. Megan reminds me of Madeline Peyroux. It would be nice for a nice guy to win, and Anoop is someone I think would be a good role model for the kids. I love to see the look on his face when someone compliments him. It’s sweet that he’s so humble…but not in an annoying David Archuleta way. OOOHHHH….I blew that out the box. Everyone on here is probably hissing at me right now. That’s right…I was a David Cook fan—-He could sing Lionel Richie’s Hello to me all night long. Keep up the great posts…I love them! I find myself skipping all my other blogger emails and going right to yours everyday!
