March 29th, 2009

The party went extremely well, it was so much fun and was a great success.  Also, I met Natalie.  Natalie who reads my blog and lives in my area and came to the party where I met her for the first time.  I love her bravery and she’s also incredibly sweet, too.

At the last minute, my sister, Sarah, who lives in Louisville, came to my house on Friday night with her two kids.  We’ve been visiting all weekend with her and with friends and it’s been such a wonderful weekend.

Last night, Steph, Erin and Arianne came over and we were up so late.  At about 2:15, I finally fell asleep.

At 4:47 in the morning, our doorbell rang and someone was banging on our front door, the sounds jolted Brian, Sarah and I from our sleep.  A police officer was at our door, he told us that someone had broken into the two cars in the drive way.  As I scurried around looking for a coat and shoes, all I could picture was broken windows and stolen items.  With my sister heading home today, I worried about how she was going to take the trip home with broken windows.

I was more than relieved to see that the jerks had just opened up the doors and did not break any windows.  Apparently, they combed through our neighborhood searching for unlocked doors and helped themselves to other people’s belongings.  Fortunately, through the entire neighborhood, all they took was my sister’s GPS system and Brian’s cell phone.  Unfortunately, they took my sister’s GPS system and Brian’s cell phone.

The only reason my sister’s doors were unlocked was because we carried in a ton of groceries in the pouring rain and forgot to go back and lock the doors.

A neighbor was driving home and saw the suspicious behavior and called the police.  I’m so glad that neighbor was alert and called the police.

So anyway, that pretty much sucks and now I am feeling insecure about my neighborhood and I also want to punch the tool who did this, but I know that what goes around comes around, so I just need to trust in that.

Now I’m just so tired and am about to take a delicious long nap.

How about some pictures to lighten the mood?

These shots were talking while going for a walk with the kids at a local nature preserve.  The weather and the photo ops were perfect.

I practiced “flare” and came out with this shot.  I consider it a big success!

This shot makes me think of alien fingers.

And this is my niece, Mary.  She was eating powdered donuts.  She loves powdered donuts.  And I love her.

Try not to feel scared, it is probably just kids doing stupid pranks.

Well I’m glad the party was a success and that your sister was able to come visit! Sorry to hear about the break in! :(

We had the same thing happened in our neighborhood back in December. Unfortunately we had just gotten back from Disney World that evening at about 10pm and hadn’t unloaded every little thing or locked the cars so the jerks took 2 ipod shuffles and 1 nano. I totally know what you mean about feeling insecure about your neighborhood after something like that happens. They finally caught our guys and they were kids who had been kicked out of their homes and such, needless to say we recovered nothing but were glad they were off the streets. Take care, trust me when I say the insecurity will pass, it will just take a little time.

AH! Thanks for mentioning me on your blog! I had such a great time, you were so kind to welcome me into your home, and your friends are fantastic also! (And also, I forgot to tell you, but your house – LOVE IT.)

I’m so sorry to hear about the break in. People really suck sometimes. Glad to hear that no one was hurt and that there wasn’t any property damage. Few things are more frustrating than filing insurance claims…

    Let’s get together again soon!

It sucks when someone violates our personal space. I am glad everyone is safe and the loss was somewhat minimal.

LOVE, love, love the pics! Glad you had an otherwise enjoyable weekend.

Amazing pictures. The Alien fingers are freaky-leak but your description is so perfect. It really is a captivating shot!

Love the picture of Mary. She so looks like she’s totally in heaven. And thanks for letting me sleep today. I needed it so bad and I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t given me more rest. I think I just would have cried the entire day away while chugging mountain dew and coffee while spraying cold water into my eyes. You’re an amazing sister.

P.S. This weekend was awesome. Those punk ass thiefs can take our electronics, but they can’t take away all of the good times we had.

Oh how I know how you feel! It has been many weeks since our door was broken into, and I still jump a bit whenever I hear a noise. Hope they find whoever did this!

I love the alien fingers picture! It made me laugh thinking about it.

I am so out of touch lately, girl! I just realized you were having a PC party! I love the pics. The first one needs to be framed at my house. Thanks. And, your niece is so deliciously cute that I would choose to nibble her rather than a powdered donut.

Sorry about the jerks that stole your stuff. You’re right, they’ll get what’s coming to them :)

So glad your party was a success. I wish we could have gotten home a little sooner so I could have been there. I would have loved to have met Rhonda. I also believe that what goes around comes around. They’ll get it back in spades. Don’t be scared. It’s probably punk kids.

OMG! I so wish I was there for your party! It sounds fabulous. And you made a new friend? WOW!

Do you have any Miller Lites left? Can I come over and drink one with you? If you have leftovers, that would be good too.

    Miss you!

So glad the party was a success! And it’s cool that you met a new friend!

As for the car thing – that is a bummer. It sounds like you have neighbors that watch out for each other though – that’s a great thing to have in a neighborhood!

Glad the weekend went well – except for the obvious. It’s happening everywhere. Here in Portland there have been more break-ins for GPS units and car inspections stickers lately. We had cars broken into (windows shattered) in our work parking lot. Last year we had a couple home break ins in our neighborhood. It really makes you more aware.

We’ve been victims of the drive-by, drive way theft as well. They got my husbands blackberry, radar detector another gadget I don’t remember right now. I’m sorry that happened to y’all. It does make you feel kind of funny about your neighborhood but I think we just have to realize that it can happen anywhere.

Beautiful photos as usual. I do love the one with the ‘flare!’

This weekend was really, really wonderful. It made going back to work today just a tiny bit easier.

Sounds like a fabulous weekend despite the break ins. It is too bad that some anonymous jerk(s) have to take away that security feeling. And while electronics are minor in the big picture, you still feel violated and vunerable. Continue to focus on the fabulousness of the weekend and the purpose of the goal that you achieved. Wish that I were to there to partake in the activities. You are truly so lucky to be so surrounded by amazing family and friends. Love the photos as per usual. You have some serious screaming talent girl.

Oh, I hope those thugs get caught. Good thing your neighbor called the police. We had some stuff happen in my neighborhood too not long ago and it makes you feel unsafe, but it’s very important to have neighbors who watch out for one another. I am still craving that pasta salad from the party! Your niece is too adorable. I hope your sister and kids made it home safely. She was a pleasure to meet.

I’m so glad it was a success, but so mad that someone broke into your cars. I hope they find whomever did it and fry their butts for it. Jerks!!!

And what a full post this was… up until 2am…I do that, but because of the baby, not because of a fun time with girlfriends. I’m missing out!
