Thanks for stopping by today, if you are new here, I’m going to tell you some things about me, if you are a regular reader of mine, then maybe you’ll learn something new about me!
First of all, this is my blog. It’s very shiny and busy and I like to keep it nice and updated all of the time. When I don’t post, sometimes I feel bad which is something I should talk to my therapist about.
I started this blog back in January of 2006, I had no idea what a blog was, but my friends and I decided to all start one on the same day and we did and it was fun.
I’m 32, I have a handsome husband, Brian, who is 32, he’s a workaholic and he’s very friendly. He empties the dishwasher for me each morning and makes my coffee for me. He also bathes the kids. Once the kids go to bed, he always says to me “do you need anything, baby?“ And I usually say “no thanks” and then he sits down and stares at his laptop and works for hours and hours. And hours. He works with computers for a law firm in downtown Chicago.
I have a six year old daughter that I call Ariel. I call her Ariel on the blog only, not in real life. In fact, if I tried to call her Ariel now she would look at me and say “mother, that is so three years ago, call me Hannah Montana.” And then I’d throw up a little bit in my mouth because Hannah Montana is on my nerves but I still watch her show because it’s funny. Ariel is smart and we read chapter books together now and she loves lip gloss and fashion and the thought of her growing up and becoming a teenager makes me weep.
The thought of her becoming a mother makes me weep, too, but in a different way.
I have a five year old son that I call Racecar. I do not call him Racecar in real life, if I did he would look at me like I was crazy and say something like “Mom, you’re the nicest mom in the wholest wholest wholest wholest wholest world but please call me Short Round.“ He’s a very sweet kid. He’s addicted to playing Wii and his eyes make my heart stop, they are so beautiful.
My kids were born 360 days apart. We did not plan it that way. The first year was the hardest year of my life – but we came through it with flying colors and the fact that they were born so close together is the greatest gift ever. I would do it again. (next time, I would consider more alcohol in the first year, however.)
Let’s talk about me, shall we? I’m always trying to lose ten or fifteen pounds but it just won’t come off magically. Which leads me to the next fact that you can usually find me with a handful of teddy grahams (the chocolate chip variety) in my hands throughout the day. Also, I love graham crackers, so much so that I can not keep them in my house. I also love Taco Bell, recently, we had Taco Bell three times in one week.
I haven’t had it since.
I love photography. I just started a photography business last fall. I could take pictures all day long, everyday and never grow tired of it. I have a lot of hard drive space on my laptop because I take so many pictures. I upload pictures to Flickr quite often. Every Thursday I host a carnival called You Capture. If you enjoy taking pictures, you should join us, it’s fun.
I also started a blog design business with my friend, Christy, last year, it’s fun and very busy.
I also get paid to write over here. Which is just weird to me, but that’s okay, I’ll take it.
I’m addicted to Etsy and I’m pretty sure I’m turning into a tech geek. I love twitter and my iPhone and sometimes I think about going to Best Buy or the Apple store rather than shopping for shoes or handbags.
As you can see, I’m terribly random.
This blog is very real. I’m quite honest and sometimes I talk about my periods, sometimes I confess to you how dirty my jeans are, yesterday I admitted to buying my bra at Walgreens and sometimes I talk about grief.
In February of 2008, we lost our identical twin boys, James and Jake at 19 weeks. Our lives changed forever. and it continues to change.
We are now unsure of what the future holds, we were once certain of a larger family but since having another miscarriage this past February at nine weeks, we just aren’t sure what’s in store for us. Rather than bury ourselves in our grief and the fear of the unknown, we try to pay closer attention to all of the amazing gifts that surround us, from our children, to our home to the blue of the sky. We also know that we have the most perfect angels watching over us, which brings us comfort.
Whew. I think you’ve heard enough.

Wow, that’s a mouthful! Party on sister! ;o)
So great to meet you!
Our girls are thirteen months apart, so I know what you mean about that first year. Only difference is that I also had a 3 1/2 year old at the time, and he was like my extra set of hands
I really enjoyed this post and I will be coming back to visit you again soon
P.S I LOVE your photography. Absolutely gorgeous!
I’ll be partying next week but I want to say that I LOVE your photography – keep up the great work!
What a great summary of you in a nutshell. I loved it!
You’re absolutely adorable! (Hannah Montana makes me throw up a little in my mouth, too.)
So pleased to meet you via the UBP ’09!
I think you covered everything in that post! Wow! It is nice to meet you….Im here from the blog party. I love how you describe your hubby and kids. And I wish my hubby did those things for me….sounds like you have a keeper!
Just popping over from the UBP! Nice to meet you! Your kids sound adorable and I am so sorry to hear about your m/c.
When I had mine at four months along we planted a rose in the garden for the little baby that we would never got to have. Each of our family has a rosebush of their choice planted in the garden, so it seemed only fitting to give our little one a rose too.
I know it hurts but I love your attitude about embracing all that life holds, especially your family!
Hi,
I’m not sure how to start. I recently came across your blog and have been meaning to get in touch with you, but just haven’t found the right way to do it. I lived next to you for a short time and you’ll never know how much of an impact you’ve had on my life. Just wanted to say how much i’ve missed your family and our mom’s group. I’ve yet to find one as cool. I know now how rare some people really are, especially when you’re so far away from family. Anyways, just wanted to let you know that I will be praying for you. I know we don’t always understand why things happen, but He has a plan. It’s taken me sometime to understand that. We’ve had some saddness in our lives also, if you want to talk, feel free to e-mail.
angie

I never knew Brian worked for a law firm! Man, do I feel sorry for him. I hate lawyers… (shhhhh, don’t tell anyone that I actually am one

I adore you and every single word you write. Total adoration.
I’ve been following your blog for the past month or so, but I love getting the snapshot view with this post. You are such a real person. I love it! Take care & God bless!
I’ve loved your blog since the first time I visited. I admire the open honesty and realness in which you write!
I love you, too. I feel I know you better than I know members of my own family. No. I KNOW I know you better…
Honey – the look of your blog is really fantastic. I love it. I love it so much that I am, deep in my heart, envious. Which is bad, and if I had a therapist I would totally bring it up.
Thanks for joining the UBP, I, of course had to subscribe so that I could keep up with your oh-so-honest writing.
I totally agree with Sharon. I couldn’t have said it better myself. So, tell me the truth, am I too old to host a party? Is it just for you young mommies or is it open to the mature mommy like Sharon and I? You can tell me the truth, I can take it!
Okay, I can already tell that I would love to hang out and chat wit you over coffee (except, I’d drink sweet tea. Coffee! Bleck!).
I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your babies.
I’m adding you to my reader, so you may be hearing more from me in the future.
Hi.
I love to take pictures so I will totally check out your carnival.
I’ve been lurking for a couple of weeks and love your blog so far.
Very informative introduction, I am please to meet you!
Love your party post, thanks for hosting! Yor lin caught my eye from Mr. Linky because I SHOULD be folding laundry. lol. Or picking up the living room. Or any othernumber of household chores. Great blog, I’ll be back for sure.
I love Racecar’s cheeks and impish grin. Seriously, he’s one of the cutest little boys ever.
You have an awesome blog! Sometimes you word things just the way I would if I was good with words.
You werent at brookfield zoo on St Patricks day were you? I swear I saw someone that looked just like you!
Well hello stranger! You’re a little late to the party, aren’t you? I have been partying since midnight and I am TIRED. Why don’t you come and sit on my back deck and have a margarita with me? Or two or three? You already know that I have a girl crush on you, LMAO.
Okay I usually don’t read through posts that long, but I LIKE YOU! And I’ll be back!
1. Thank you for the thoughtful comment you left me. It cheered me up.
2. I really liked reading this! I am pretty new to you and your blog and… you seem fabulous!
So sorry to hear about your losses… You have a beautiful blog.
Just getting started in the blogging world…and loving it – love your frank honesty…don’t think I am quite there yet!
I love your party post.
You’re pretty groovy
My older boys are 17 months apart and I SHOULD have added more alcohol during the first year. I never thought of that!..lol
Great post. So you! What a perfect way to introduce yourself. Your descriptions of Ariel, Racecar, and Brian are so perfect. And so is your description of you. Very nice!
I love the title of your blog – that’s SO my life! Well, that and “I should be working”! (the downside of working from home – it feels like every minute should be spent catching up!)
I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your babies. I admire your strength to share your story. Your post on grief was really helpful. Thank you.
I will be subscribing to your blog as I instantly fell in love with it! I love your humor and how you are so open. I am so very sorry for the loss of your babies and I hope that you may still have that big family if you want. Thanks for posting.
I love Etsy, too!
I’m so sorry for your losses. Grieving our little ones is such a difficult journey.
Blessings to you,
Michele
I have loved your blog ever since I discovered it a few weeks ago, on the first week of You Capture. I am a fellow photography nut. I love to learn from other photographers!
Hi there! It’s nice to meet you! I love teddy grahams too…and other “toddler treats” (have you tried the earth’s best cookies?).
Nice to meet you! From UBOP 09! I read your blog several times when Step from Adventures in Babywearing has written about you or whatnot. Your post was quite funny and a bra from Walgreen?! I didn’t know they sold bras! How funny! Love your humor and honesty!
