You Capture. Week Four.

By Beth
Mar 17, 2009

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT! Beginning next week, You Capture will  be held on Thursdays, rather than Wednesdays.  k?  It’s all American Idol’s fault.  Every year I have live blogged American Idol and now that this season is finally down to ten contestants I will begin live blogging the performances every Tuesday night.  So, that’s why the change.  No biggie, right?
______

I can’t believe You Capture is already four weeks old.  My little baby is growing up.  *sniff*

This week’s challenge definitely got my creative juices flowing.  I love that.

My shots for this week:

Shadow DSC_5116

Of course, I adore this bird shot.  It’s very meaningful to me.  Anytime I see two birds, my mind and my heart go to James and Jake.  These two birds sit on our front porch.

Now it’s time to share your shadow creativity with the rest of us.  If you’ve never participated before, feel free to jump in anytime.  I love seeing new names, faces and points of view.  Also, don’t forget to visit the rest of the participants to see what they’ve been shooting, too!  Part of becoming a better photographer is looking other photographer’s work for inspiration.  Don’t forget to leave a comment of encouragement.

Just a few important details: please make sure you are linking directly to your specific You Capture post in Mr. Linky (and not just your site, for instructions, go here) and please make sure you are linking back to this challenge in your post.

next-week2

Next week’s You Capture challenge is reflection.  For reflection ideas, you can visit here.

Remember, the point of these challenges is to break out your camera and take pictures based on the challenge.  Don’t just go searching through your archives to find an appropriate photo!  Pick up that camera and HAVE FUN!

I love the birds too. I love that you’ve managed to find your boys in such everyday, but special places. I wish when my brother had died that we had done somethings like what you’ve done to be able to remember them by.

Geez! I can’t believe how quickly a week goes by! I have been thinking about the shadows challenge all week, but never really got anything that I was super excited about. And now it’s Wednesday already!! I’m going to have to step up my game!!! Maybe the extra day this week will help. And I already have a BUNCH of ideas for reflection.

The birds are beautiful and it’s a wonderful way to remember James & Jake. *hugs*

I love the birds; they are so beautiful! I didn’t get any good shots to share this week of shadows, and didn’t have the time to dig through my old pictures, so I will have to work hard to get something to share for next week! I LOVE the “Capture You”, thanks for doing it!

The birds are my favorite, too. Not just for what they mean to us but also because it’s a beautiful shadow shot. Now if the birds picture wasn’t so impressive, I’d be raving about the candle so I must add, I love that one too.

    Saj says:

I love both shots, but especially the birds! I hate to admit, but at first glance, I thought they were pieces of cauliflower! :)

I’m glad for the move to Thursday. It will work with my schedule a little better, and that’s really the reason, no? :)

    Allie says:

How truly touching and beautiful those birds are along with their shadows. What a wonderful gift to have.

  27. 27

The birds are beautiful, and even more so now that I know they remind you of your sweet boys. My heart is hugging you right now, feel it? A little? Maybe?

At any rate, I think the best advice here was to have fun with the camera. It’s so easy to get caught up in what is a strong image and what is not, and so easy to forget that it’s not the end of the world if the picture isn’t perfect, as long as you like it =) Maybe I’ll participate next week.

    If I remember.

Big if. The baby seems to have devoured my brain this week, but we’ll see if I manage to remember despite it’s best efforts =)
