{Handmade Inspired} What I Want for Mother’s Day
ByCan you believe how self-absorbed the title of this post is? At least I can admit it. The truth is, I’m pretty much missing out on Mother’s Day this year because um…I’m going to be in San Francisco without my children, which I’m certain is going to send me into therapy because HOWCANINOTSPENDMOTHERSDAYWITHMYKIDS?
Except it’s not even my fault because we are going there for Brian’s job and he can’t choose which weekend he goes and hello? It’s San Francisco. I’ve never been there and well, I need to go there.
I just wish we could afford to bring the kids along, but we can’t. So, I guess I’ll have to settle with sleeping in and having a vat of coffee delivered to our room just to get out of bed, take a shower and leisurely walk around the city taking photos ALL DAY LONG. (READ: heaven, yo.)
Last year Mother’s Day was pretty much one of the worst days of my life, so I’m hoping that last year sucked and this year I’ll be two thousand miles away from home and next year I can start fresh and start to love and adore Mother’s Day once again.
Man, did I used to love and adore Mother’s Day.
Long story short, I don’t think I’ll be receiving anything for Mother’s Day this year since my plane ticket was so expensive. (but I’m secretly hoping that I’ll still get my two lilac bushes. That would be grand.)
So, let’s pretend that I WILL receive gifts for Mother’s Day and that Brian said “Beth, darling, whatever you desire for Mother’s Day, I shall get for you, I just need a list. With photos and prices on your blog.” So, that’s what I’m doing this week, a small series on what I want for Mother’s Day, even though I won’t get anything.
(I have a sickness living in this pretend world, I realize this.)
I stumbled upon these unbelievable prints. They make my heart soar.
The selection is amazing, but I narrowed it down and I’d love to have all of these that I’ve included in this post. And before you look at these and fall in love, let me just encourage you to buy one for yourself because these are good for your soul. Tell your husband I said so. (and the seller is not sponsoring this post, she doesn’t even know I exist. so there.)
Behold the awesomeness. Each print has a message on the print.

Among the lines on her skirt are my favorites “wear red shoes,” “surround yourself with good people” and “speak of your gratitude.” Can you even handle the loveliness?
Hello, birdie. I love you.
This one is called “I heart your heart.” Oh my gosh, LOVE.
And this one is just breathtaking to me, the red, the power of the message, the butterfly. Oh, the perfection.
Not only are these so amazingly beautiful, the messages are profound and perfect and seriously could make me weep in the most beautiful way upon passing a collage on my wall (in my office, to be exact). The prices vary depending on the size, some are 5×5, some 8×10, the prices ranges from $14 – $18.
This shop, you must visit. LIKE NOW. Don’t you agree? And if you do order something, tell me so I can be jealous of you and also, feel free to go there and tell me which one is your favorite in the comments. We can dream together. That’s what girlfriends do.

Oh my GOSH. These two are making it kind of hard to breathe because I want them in my house RIGHT NOW.
Between my birthday and Mother’s Day, I can work it so Shane gets me at least one of those, right? I’m hoping!
Okay so yep the pics are cool. But I’ll admit, I’m so freaking excited to seeing what kind of pics you take in San Fran! I’ve been there once & tried to take ‘cool’ pics, but I never really succeeded. I just know your pics are going to be so much more awesomer than mine – okay so maybe I just made that word up. Anyhoo – I’m soooo glad you’re going! Can’t wait to hear all about it!
I hope it is better! Those pics are cute too.
You mean women actually spend mothers day WITH their kids??? Not me. That’s my day far from them…like at a spa or something. San Fran will be a wonderful time for you. And I cannot wait to see your awesome pics!
This artwork is beautiful! I am in love with it! When are you going to San Fran??
I love Kelly Rae !
Enjoy San Fran !
I think of Mother’s Day as a day for mothers to be indulged whether they are at home with the children (which includes taking care of their needs all day long when they’re little) or sleeping late and waking to special coffees in San Francisco, the city of romance? history? great photos? – whatever. I hope you enjoy your day and I’m betting I’ll see at least some of these prints on your wall soon.
I have not doubt that you are going to enjoy your time out here in SF. You’ll relax and take some of the most beautiful pics and fall in love with the city. I can’t wait to see the pics that end up in your shop! It will be a great Mother’s day weekend.
what a LOVELY and spirited and sweet post. thank you so much. i’m so touched that they speak to your spirit
ps – have a great time in san fran. it’s a great city!

Personally, I think a trip would be the best Mother’s Day gift ever! Although I love, love, love lilac bushes – the ones in my parents’ yard always bloom around Mother’s Day. Can’t wait to hear about your trip. Brian gets to go to some great places through work.
I want.
And I also LOVE this concept/colors/idea for a blog design. (MY blog design.)

Because I am the nosiest person ever (seriously, I knew I was getting engaged because I found the receipt for my ring), I checked the history on my computer this morning, and I’m pretty sure Shane bought me two of these prints for my birthday. I may have “accidentally” left them up on the laptop last night when I went to bed. With a post-it note saying, “Look how cute these are!” Subtlety is not my strong suit. So thanks, babe, for this post. You can totally come over and admire them ANYtime!
These pictures remind me of my Steph. Funny, I read her comment after sending this. San Fran…how neat! Are you going to eat some Rice-a-roni?
Oh wow! These are fabulous prints. Have a fabulous time in San Fran!
ah see but this is how it works, Mom’s get waited on for Mother’s day, and Dad’s do FOR their kids on Father’s day? So by going away your working on your end of the being waited on deal.
Those prints are amazing! I LOVE the Strong one. Gorgeous.
Have fun in San Fran! What a great trip for Mother’s Day.
So very jealous that you are going to San Fransisco! You will have a fabulous, fabulous time — and just think of the photos! (I’m so excited I could plotz!)
San Fran? Wow – that is a fabulous Mother’s Day trip, despite not having your perfect little munchkins attending with you. I am sure breakfast in bed, sightseeing and romance can soften the blow though ….
Those prints are gorgeous!! I am gunning for one of those awesome handmade necklaces you featured a while back and I have even gone so far as to not only print off the info for visual stimulation, but have also created it as our home page at home and in my hubby’s office. Sadly, I don’t think that he will take the hint and will procrastinate until the last minute hence causing me to get nada or a paperback book from the corner store. (seriously … that happens). But … a girl has gotta dream no?
wow.
wow.
oh my holy wow.

i could have about 17 of these all over my house.
Said in voice of Veruca Salt: “I want to go to San Fran. I want to go to SAN FRAN NOWWWWW!”
Seriously, that is rad. Enjoy!
This one’s my fave: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=23887852
Reminds me of my best girlfriends.
I. Am. In. Love.
And I’m going to borrow Erin’s technique and drop a hint or two to WonderHubby…
Very nice. Lovely. I’m hoping for prints…hmmm, maybe one of yours!

San Francisco is Awesome! You should get some great pictures. My grandmother lives in the Bay area and I used to spend my summers out there – it was awesome!
While you’re there make sure you enjoy some sourdough bread – sourdough just isn’t the same anywhere else! Oh and eat some chocolate for me at Ghirardelli Square, and… well just enjoy yourself! If all goes as planned I’ll get to be out at Grandma’s for Christmas this year and I’ll get to do the rest of the fun stuff I want you to do for me
I think that Mother’s day is a wonderful holiday that reminds us that the mother is the most important thing that we have in life!
I hope this year’s Mother’s Day is better than last year. Last year’s post made me cry, so if there is someone in southern California who is totally screwing up your stats, it’s me, it’s because it took me awhile to pull myself together and write a comment.
I just, I really really hope and pray that this year you have a beautiful Mother’s Day. You deserve it.
PS – When my mom had a childless Mother’s Day, she said it was because it wasn’t Kid’s Day. Every other day was Kid’s Day. So you can always use that logic!
I have seen this store before and LOVE it!
