American Idol – Final Seven…again.

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009
By Beth

Whoa.  I almost forgot, two contestants are going home tomorrow.   Get your disco balls and your bell bottoms, we are discoing tonight, cats and dogs.

Lil Rounds - I’m Every Woman – Lil Rounds is ROUND.  Holy smoky.  Is that spandex?  I think Brian is just staring at her boobs. (I know I am *cough*)  My thoughts: she did a lot of yelling and it was out of control sometimes?  Maybe?  Yes?  And Paula just said that Lil has been ill and has been on vocal rest.  or something.

Cowell has predicted her dismissal.  I agree.

My boyfriend, Kris Allen (please take your shirt off, please take your shirt off, please take your shirt off.) -  She Works Hard for the Money – He’s turned this big song into an acoustic song with bangos, which I happen to think is super cool and creative.  I enjoyed this performance and not just because he’s fun to look at.  LOVED the ending of this song.  LOVED IT.

OMG, SOMEONE PUT A SHOE IN PAULA’S MOUTH.  or a fist or something.

Danny Gokey – September – I like Danny, I like his voice, I like his glasses and his story and I think he can dance pretty well.  But there was nothing really GREAT about this performance, but his voice was really perfect tonight.

Allison Iraheta - Hot Stuff – I love me some Allison, you all know she’s my favorite but WHAT IN THE HELL IS SHE WEARING?   It’s distracting me from listening to her.  Are those rhinestones?    And pleather?  And tails hanging from her jacket?  NO ALLISON. NO.  Fire your stylist.  Like yesterday.

I liked her performance, her vocals were good (as always) but I wasn’t wowed which makes me sad because she’s the best.  the end.

Simon says:  that was a brilliant performance. Right on, brother.

Adam “the screamer” Lambert – If I Can’t Have You -  I’m hoping this chap sings us a nice calm song tonight, that would be great.  He looks pretty freakin’ hot, if you ask me.  I have to tell you, he looks much better in a suit than he does dressed in drag.  Am I right or am I right?

Is Paula crying?  Somebody push her.  Hard. with a shovel.

Good performance by Adam.  He did a great job completely changing the song.

I love watching Simon while Paula speaks.  It’s probably why I continue to watch this show.  IN FACT, how about AI create a DVD with just his reactions to Paula talking.  It would be a best seller.  No doubt.

Matt Giraud - Staying Alive – Oh help me, I hate this song, but fortunately…Matt is changing it up a little bit.  And I like it pretty well, it was entertaining and interesting.

Anoop Desai – noideawhatsongthisis – I like his facial hair.  Some of his vocals are pretty good, but the last note was PAINFUL to listen to.  Oh, poop, Anoop, you can SANG but I’m concerned that your days are numbered.

Bottom three:  Anoop, Lil, Matt

Going bye-bye: um…Lil?

My favorite performances?  Kris, then Adam

The Print Shop

Monday, April 20th, 2009
By Beth

I have decided to do something that I’ve considered doing for a very, very long time.  I probably would have continued just thinking about  it for the next few years except I had a great idea that if I rolled it out now, it could potentially benefit the March of Dimes and our walk this Sunday.  You know, should anyone be interested in such a thing.

And so, YESTERDAY, I started this project, and today I worked with my team of consultants (my friends) on the finishing touches and out came this project:

I Should Be Folding Laundry – The Print Shop.

isbfl-the-print-shop-ad

Essentially, it’s a collection of some of the photos I’ve taken since losing James & Jake that are now available as prints in my new Etsy shop.

Right now, for every purchase that is made until April 30th, ALL of the proceeds will be donated to Team James and Jake.  This is something that I’m excited about but also nervous about because really?  Is anyone ever going to buy anything…except that you just never know unless you try, so here I am…TRYING.  And I’m pretty excited about it.

So, head on over and come back and tell me what you think.  Your opinion really matters to me.  Be sure to check back as new images will be added soon.

Loving

Monday, April 20th, 2009
By Beth

I am feeling the love right now. Deep, intense, inspiring, sick love. All because of James and Jake and all because of you. (continue reading, I’m giving something away. geeze.)

Next Sunday is our March for Babies walk and to say that I am excited would be a total understatement. Honestly, if someone were to say “hey Beth, would you rather see Brad Pitt with his shirt off weeding your garden or just be excited for this week prior to the walk,” I’m pretty sure I would take this week. (although, I really do need my garden weeded.)

There is nothing MORE BEAUTIFUL than watching our numbers grow. Our team goal this year is $5,000, right now we are at $4,103. I get a lump in my throat just thinking about the love that is being poured over us. It feels warm and cozy, what a gift.

Adding to my excitement is that I designed our team t-shirts this weekend and I am loving them. I can’t wait to see them in person. I want to thank the One2One Network for sponsoring this year’s team shirts. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.  (and my friend Amy for giving us a GREAT price!)  Having met the women behind One2One, let me tell you that their hearts are big and their passion is deep and them sponsoring Team James and Jake just doesn’t surprise me at all. It’s just the way they are.

SO, because I feel like celebrating I thought I would do a strange giveaway. It’s strange because I’m not even sure anyone would even want one of these, but I know that the thought of people wearing these special things across the country makes me so happy.  And the thought that some of you MAY want one and that I am able to share these with you, well, that makes me happy and it fills me with love and THAT is what this week is about.

Today, I am giving away a  Team James and Jake team shirt to five lucky (in my opinion) winners.   I know it’s not some big labeled item, but it’s really special, I think.  So, whether you want to wear them while gardening or sleeping or you cut the sleeves off and wear it with a headband and leg warmers, it makes no difference to me.

Would you like a sneak preview?

Here’s the front: (I hope)

Why am I doing this? I happen to know that there are so many people that would love to walk with us on Sunday but they can’t because they live too far or just can’t make it, I also know that there are many people who love James and Jake and would love to have something tangible, so, if you want one…just leave me a comment…right here.  And if only five of you want one, that’s okay with me.

This giveaway ends Thursday night at 9 CST, the winners will be announced on Friday, April 24th.

Feel like pitching in?  Donate here!

One last thing…I’m working on a project that is both scary and exciting…be sure to check back tonight.  k?

By Beth

So, I have three weeks of posts piled up over here, for you to read.  By the way, three weeks of posts equals three posts.  Anyway, head on over and catch up with me there.  And don’t be shy, feel free to leave me a comment, m’kay?

And I have this new blog that I read, I love it because her photography is peaceful and astonishing and her words are poetic and perfect and I just want to share her with you today, you’ll probably just want to add her to your google reader right now.  So, go there, too.

Finally, my friend Terri is holding an auction for a print of a breathtaking photo she took, the proceeds are being donated to team James and Jake.  You have to check it out!  (thank you, Terri!)

Happy Sunday, friends.
