Weight Loss
ByRemember last Wednesday when I told you that it was time for me to lose weight? Remember when I also told you that Brian and I had a challenge to see who could lose the most weight last week? (if I won, I could get a pedicure, if he wins then I can’t spend any money for a week?) Well, today was weigh-in day.
Let’s just say I’ll be spending money on a pedicure.
That’s right, I lost FOUR POUNDS and Brian, well…let’s say Brian did not have such a good week. (yes, I am wondering if he threw the contest so I would do something with these unattractive appendages of mine, but something tells me that’s not the case.)
This week definitely had it’s challenges, which included chocolate, pizza rolls, queso and chocolate.
And peanut butter. (which is what happens when your chocolate-loving sister comes to visit.)
But, I persevered and counted points and I lost four pounds, which makes me so excited.
What else is new with me?
Well, I took my measurements yesterday and then today before doing The Torture, I mean, The Shred, I took before pictures. But these aren’t my typical before pictures. Today I decided to show you everything, meaning, I’m just wearing my workout pants and a sports bra. My muffin top, sagging skin and ALL OF THE PALE all make an appearance. It’s not pretty, but it’s me.
And I’m only showing you these pictures because I’m hoping to inspire you to join me in my weight loss efforts. And if you don’t need to lose weight, then maybe you just need to be a healthier you.
So, here you go, my before pictures. And 30 days from now, well, 29 days from now, (I’ll be traveling on 5/1) I’ll be sharing photos of me after the 30 Day Challenge.)
Okay, so maybe I lied. I just downloaded the pictures and looked at them and they are seriously nightmarish. Perhaps I’ll just wait until I’m much smaller before I’ll show my before pictures.
Hey, I’m brave. But I’m not THAT brave. (plus, I’m pretty sure a few of you would be scared away forever and I just can’t stand the thought.)
Okay, I’ll show you ONE. Here’s my back.

Now I’m running away.
HEY! I see you clicking on the picture to make it larger, stop it and STOP LOOKING AT ME.
kbye.

Yay for winning and for the pedicure!
And seriously that before picture is not bad at all!? Kudos for being brave and setting an example!
I actually think you look good! Good luck with the “shred”.
You don’t even have back fat. So not fair.
Congrats on the win – enjoy your pedi! : )
I should be so lucky to look like you now. Unfortunately, we are our own worst critics. I’ll be spending the next few days looking for a copy of the 30 Day Shred. I was going to order it from Amazon, but the cost of two day shipping was as much as the dvd. I’m crazy, but I’m not that crazy. Hopefully, I find one by Monday. I want to workout with the cool kids.
p.s. Congratulations on your win!!! I love pedicures.
Considering all we ate this weekend, four pounds is amazing! I’m so proud of you for winning–enjoy your pedicure.
And silly, that picture is totally not that bad AT ALL.
You are hilarious and brave and clearly capable of great will power. I know how it feels to succeed in loosing a moderate chunk of weight (30 lbs) and I am always really happy and encouraged to see other people getting to experience that feeling / success. You are doing awesome!
Girl, you know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I think you’re pretty smokin’.
I have been watching what I eat and exercising 3x/week in preparation for BlogHer, so I’m hopeful I can eat least buy new shoes! Er, I mean capri’s, for the big event!
O.K. Seriously, you do not look bad at all. And you are way, WAY braver than I am. Hell’s no.
Congrats on the win and enjoy the pedi!
You won’t believe me when I say this but I think you look great in that pic! Your back has definition…do you know how hard that is for most women to achieve?? Congrats on your win!!
Beth, you are so brave and I love you for doing this! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but if you don’t feel good about the way you look, then that’s all just crap! You can do this for you, and I know you will! You’ve done it before and you’re off to a rockin’ good start. AND you’ll have beautiful, happy feet while you’re Shredding!!
Yeah – you are very brave and look good to me. Where’s this fat you’re talking about? Seriously? There’s no way on earth you would get me to post a picture in my sports bra even from the back side. Self conscious doesn’t even begin to describe it, but for different reasons. I have issues, but don’t we all. Congrats on your win – 4 pounds is something to be really proud of.
I have the Shred sitting in my cart on Amazon right now. It’s just sitting there waiting for me to buy it. I’m scared, really scared.
Um, Beth sweetie, I hate to tell you this, but you are so not fat or chunky, or pudgy!!! And you rocked those 4 pounds, enjoy your pedi!
You look unbelievable!
Hmph. I left a really nice, long, meaningful comment and it disappeared. SMFD.
I’m so proud of you, Beth! Posting your picture took guts (no puns intended!). And even though everyone thinks you look great (including me), you have to feel good about yourself and that’s what this journey is all about.
You can do it! We can do it! Now about that Shred thing. Oy! I’m not looking forward to the pain!!!
Congrats on winning! You deserve it after all of those temptations!
Congrats!! Pedi here you come!!
Seriously? You look great from this angle at least. I wish I looked as good, LOL! But I’m right there in the trenches, too, trying to get to my optimum weight by summer (as are many people).
What? You look awesome! Seriously, that is a great back pic! I only wish my backside looked so wonderful!
I think I just might be inspired to post pictures of my backside. Maybe. I am so proud of you for taking the leap of faith and going for it. BRAVO!
OMG. Now I am totally reconsidering doing mine cuz you look GOOD biotch!!
I can’t wait to shred with you!
P.S. Is that the Walgreens bra?
You are so brave! Way to go Beth! And may I just point out that you have no bra overhang? And that makes you beautiful! It also makes me jealous, because I have an ample supply of bra overhang.
I am proud of your four pounds!!!
shut! up! I’m soooooo not showing my before’s. and probably not my after’s
Good for you!! And wow, even in the face of queso? You’re a stronger woman than I am!
You rock for posting a before picture! And I don’t think you look bad. I wish I could show you a picture of my back when I started. UGH.
Am I the only one looking forward to the Shred?? We’re going to rock this…I just know it!!
Congrats on the 4 pounds and I agree with everyone else. That back picture is what I would be striving for. Good post though. Almost inspiring enough to get me started. I’ll get there someday. (Is that procrastinating?)
You look fabulous!! Now, my picture would be horrid….HORRID.
Congrats on the weight loss
You are VERY brave! I don’t even think I could take those pictures of myself! Your back looks nice, though! No unsightly bulge over your sports bra! I could probably pull that off.
I’ll hopefully be “Shredding” with you starting this weekend sometime! Good luck!
Awesome, keep up the good work – you look great already btw!
I’ll be joining you guys on the shred. I ordered it today (since I didn’t win, sniff) so hopefully it gets here soon!
way to go on the 4 lbs already — that’s awesome!! you look pretty great on my screen.
and didn’t you hear?
PALE IS THE NEW TAN
phew.
Um, you’re a freakin superstar! So very proud of you babe (and I mean BABE)!! hugs…
you are so brave! And not so bad from the back. I am not doing the shred, but my husband and I did start P90x last week and we took photos and I saved them on my computer with a password and they are never, ever, coming out….
I didn’t think I looked that bad until I saw the pictures.
Oh my gosh, are you kidding me? You look perfectly fine! I’ve been working out since the middle of January and I’ve gained two pounds. No idea whats going on. But Im thinking it’s all muscle. Has to be. Better be!
Im thinkin about ordering the 30 day shred.. Im hoping I win it from the shrinking blog first
Yay for the pedicure!!
This is your BEFORE picture.
Crap.
Yeah!! Four pounds lost is great! and well on the way to less Beth! So brave for showing that picture. There’s no way I’m posting a picture of myself like that, until I’m done!! Hope you do well on the 30 Day Shred! I’m thinking of trying it too!
I’m down 5 pounds from last Wednesday so I’m pretty happy!
Have a good day….
That’s a pretty good photo if you ask me. I’m with you on the shred challenge except I’m going to start Monday
I think a picture of my backside is going to be my motivation.
woohoo four pounds is AWESOME…
I’m sitting here eating a 9 month old Hershey bar dipped in chocolate while reading your post. That’s how pathetic (and desperate for chocolate) I am right now.
CONGRATS on 4 pounds. That is awesome. And props for posting the pic.
Waistlines are overrated.
Hooray, you beat Brian! Enjoy your pedicure.
I actually thought about taking before pictures like that. Only I would not be brave enough to post them! I was just planning on using them for motivation. Also, what back fat?
Four pounds! That is awesome! You should get a pedicure and a manicure for that. I can’t wait to see the results of the 30 day Shred.
Wow, you ARE brave!
And I have so much farther to go than you do! Hope the 30 day Shred works well for you though, once you get past the soreness!
Ok, that’s not fair. Just from the back you are in such better shape than me! You don’t have any back fat rolls! *sigh* Even though I curse you for being smaller than me I KNOW that 4 pounds is a triumph! Way to go! I’m still getting into the habit of the gym every other day. And it really should be EVERY day.
UM……HELLO!! You look fantastic!! And where is the muffin top and back fat????? I think you have a crazy mirror that makes you believe these things are actually there!! LOL!! Keep up the good work!
