I’m hearing that many of you struggled with this week’s subject and last week’s subject which is GOOD, in my opinion, because everything good is worth looking for. or something. I could easily say “take a picture of your child’s smile,” but how challenging would that be? I want you to think and open your eyes to this vast and beautiful world that surrounds you.
I also enjoy the subjects I pick because many can be taken in 100 different ways and I like that. Wouldn’t it be boring to visit everyone’s sites and see that we all took the same photo? I think so, too. So, keep rockin’ it and keep taking lots of pictures. BIG TIP: Take lots of pictures.
Wait, did I just say that?
I take approximately 2,500 pictures A MONTH, last month I took 6,000. Practice makes perfect. Take your camera everywhere and if you feel compelled to take a shot…TAKE IT. Several times.
Okay, let’s get going. This week’s subject was letters and man, did this one get the wheels in my head turning! Up until this morning I had NOTHING. No shots and no ideas. So, I grabbed my coffee and drove around and I found some things that I am quite pleased with.
We have an abundance of these big x’s (and r’s) around here:

And we all have these “t” intersections, don’t we?

Little letters. Big purpose.

Love this.

And finally. What’s for dinner? I’m hungry.

Yes. It WAS delicious. Thankyouverymuch.
Now it’s YOUR turn to share your shots! And if you didn’t get any and you’re now getting ideas after seeing everyone’s shots, get out there and take some pictures and link up. It’s never too late, my friends.
Just a few things to keep in mind:
1. You can join in on this challenge at any time! We welcome & love new participants.
2. Please make sure you are linking directly to your specific You Capture post in Mr. Linky (and not just your site, for instructions, go here) and please make sure you are linking back to this challenge in your post. If you don’t abide by this, your link will be removed. (I know, I’m so mean.)
3. Try your hardest not to reuse a picture from your archives, the goal of You Capture is to get you moving with your camera, get creative! Challenge yourself!
4. Do your best to visit the other participants’ site – everyone loves the traffic, the comments and the feedback (not just you!)
5. And finally, post as many pictures as you want on your post.

Joy.

This is the first time I’ve visited this and can’t wait to participate next week. HOW FUN!
LOVE your shots! Very creative. So lovely and striking. Oh yes, I adore your challenges.
It did take more out of me to “find” shots this time around, and I really enjoyed that.
I was a picture nut before I got my DSLR. I’ve always been told I have a good eye for photography, but until I got my SLR camera…well, I guess had no idea what I was missing.
I take this bad boy everywhere with me, and snap as many shots as I can. I must say, you have me beat in how many I take, though.
I’ve got a date, just me and my camera, and a little spot 45 minutes away… that little spot is loaded with photo-magic moments, and I can’t wait!
Nell
Ooooh…weathervane. I love it.
That burger looks GOOD, even at 10:30 at night!
The weather vane shot is lovely and reminds me of my grandparents farm…
I had a lot of fun figuring out what my “letter” photos were going to be. Thanks for hosting this! : )
I love them! You make me wish I had a Nikon or a new lens or something. I take ten zillion pictures too. Maybe not as many as you do, but still ten zillion.
You have such a great eye for photography. Once again, you did a wonderful job.
I love all of these, but I think the first and last are my favourites!
Excellent captures! Thanks for the challenge!
Your captures are great. Not bad for a morning’s drive!
You always get such fabulous colour in your photos!! You are totally, amazingly talented my friend!!
And, I must admit that I initially found this week’s challenge initimidating, it is the one that I had the most fun with yet!!
Thanks for doing this! It truly is so eye opening!
oh these are great – you must live in a rural area!
I MUST PUT CAMERA IN CAR!!!!!!!!
I don’t think we have T stops here? Ummm.
Great shots!
Except the hamburger you tease. I’m going to go have a cup of tea and TRY to forget about it.
Your captures are amazing…as always!
I think my favorite is the Library one. They are all so striking though.
I loved this challenge! It was alot of fun. Although I didn’t get terribly creative it was still a challenge to think about where I would go and what I would do. Thanks!
ok…that burger, looked really, really good
and 2nd this was so hard! I tried to think outside the box and well, I don’t do that very often so take a look and let me know what y’all think
Love your letters – my take on letters is up on my blog.
6000 – wow! My max is usually 2500.
Your photos are all great!
You are so creative. Those are great pictures.
Great shots! I also see letters everywhere. The burger looks delish!
BTW, what editing software do you use? I have a copy of CS2 from my brother, but I’m debating purchasing Photoshop Elements. Any thoughts?
I had comments about all the photos, but then I saw the fries. And now all I can think about is how badly I want fries because those look amazing! But since it’s not even 8AM, and I’ve already had skittles and a cupcake, I probably don’t need to add fries to my stellar diet.
Love your shots!! The weathervane is my favorite.
Wow, fabulous shots today, Beth!! I haven’t been able to get out and take pictures this past 2 weeks but I hope to be back next week.
I wanted to participate but this was hard! And it would require me to leave the house or get creative and I just never made it happen! Yours are fantastic!
Steph
BETH! Great pictures.
Funny story about the RR…our house is for sale…and someone viewing it said, TOO MANY TRAINS…and then I said *giggle* have you BEEN to this town before and wished them luck in finding a home that DOESN’T hear TOO MANY trains.
Anyway.
On to thinking about JOY!
I loved this theme!! I didn’t take pictures of letters, but … well, I don’t want to spoil my post.
I love your pictures, though — you make letters look GOOD!
You don’t even want to know how many pictures I take in a normal week. I took 186 yesterday alone. Yikes.
Of course, I’m lucky to get 3 out of those that are worth editing/uploading, lol.
Beth, you’ve got the BEST eye EVER! I love, love, love the X laying in the road for the railroad crossing and the wind directions on the beautiful, picturesque weather vane. You found so many great letters including the one on the cheeseburger but most importantly, your pictures are gorgeous!
Love the “t” intersection shot! You have such an eye for great shots.
My favorite shot is the cheeseburger. Mmmmm.
Can you tell I’m on a diet?
Personally I LOVE your challenges, Beth. They do get me thinking and yes I find that I am taking my camera everywhere with me. This is just the inspiration I’ve needed to get my creative juices flowing once again. Thank you sooo much!
I LOVE the challenges too, Beth. I love the creative aspect of this challenge, and I’ve always wanted to be able to sue my camera to capture what I feel inside about a place or a scene that inspires me. Now, I have a big question – I posted a pic that is quite ‘normal’ from my camera, and I want to know – is it a user-problem? Or an equipment problem? AND I need to know how you organize your gazillion photos – that is a problem that actually stops me from taking pictures. I don’t want so many that i can’t find what I’m looking for. So, how do you do it?
Thanks for the challenge next week – THAT will challenge me!
Your shots are great… as always! I just love this carnival. It’s good to shoot with a purpose!
Beth! Superb! Try as I might, I cannot get the sharpness and clarity that you do in your “captures”.
I’ll post my letters that I did this week when i get home from work and please stop by and give me some pointers.
Just decided to join in on the fun this week! I’ve been reading the blog for a few weeks now and love it.
I really enjoyed your photos today! I especially loved the weather vane. I would have never thought to try and capture one. Now I’m going to be on the look out for one. Which may be hard to find living in the city.
Whew! It took me forever to get all my photos edited and put together in a post that I was happy with.
Beth, I love them all! What else is new!?!? My favs are the railroad crossing, as well as the library. Especially the library. Happy times.
I had a tough time coming up with an idea this week, but once I did, I had a great time with it! Thanks for the awesome challenge!!
Beautiful shots, as always
I do not know if you will have a chance to answer this, but I have a question. A lot of your pictures are a very interesting tone to them. Please forgive me for not knowing the right words to explain what I am talking about, I hope you can figure out what I mean.
For example, in all but the burger shot above, the tone and colors in all of your pictures do not look exactly like how things look through my eyes. It is very cool. Is this something that you achieve through the settings on your camera or through editing software later? Gosh, I hope this makes sense.
awesome! I didn’t check the challenge this week-I need to get started. I am going to go out to shoot tomorrow. Altho I did see some letters this past week taking photos. I may have to bust it out. I love looking for things like that. thanks for doing this!!
P.S. LOVE LOVE LOVE the library shot!
Terrific shots! I especially like the weather vane…letters we often overlook, but are very important. Great captures! Thanks again for the challenge this week.
Beth – take a look at my entry! There’s plenty of thanks to you for your terrific challenges there.
I love your blog.
I love your pictures and I love this challenge that I can now participate in to keep my photography obsession goin!
I played this week, thanks!!

I have a u capture post up for today… I love your photos… Thanks for including me in the fun…. Blessings. Jaime
I looooove your challenges! For the first time in 12 years, they’ve got me thinking about taking pictures of something other than my kids.
Your pictures are awesome! Especially love the weather vane!
I thought this one would be impossible, but my little guy presented me with 3 great opportunities for Letter pictures!! Check them out!!
All your pictures turned out great! I love the library and the weather vane. I’m really loving your weekly challenges – they give me a creative outlet when life as a SAHM can be all school/sick kids/dishes/laundry. You know the routine. Thanks!
I really love your pictures this week. I love the fact that you make us think about your assignments. I also take tons of pictures! And I think that alone makes us better photographers.
Thanks so much for doing this!
These are gorgeous!!!
Pokey, but I made it!
I enrolled for the first time this week. Love it. I was soooo exhausted today but I dragged myself down the street to take my shots. I had found a spot earlier and knew I wanted to go there. I had a great time.
i just got my first DSLR last week. I am so thrilled with it and have sooo much to learn! this is a fun way to get practicing!!!
I’ve always enjoyed taking photos. It was until around 2000 that I realized how much I enjoy it. I got a new digital camera in 2000 (Sony camera that took 3×3 floppy diskettes). I started taking photos at every opportunity. Then I got a Nikon N65 film camera. I became an addict. I took photos at every opportunity. Next was a small Kodak digital camera. I truly entered the world of digital photograph at that point. Two years ago my husband got me a Nikon D40 for my birthday. I take photos of everything, all the time. Right before I left for vacation this year (in February), I was having a problem with the autofocus on my D40. I was kind of bummed about it because sometimes I use the autofocus. My husband saw how distressed I was about possibly having my beloved digital camera in the shop while we were on vacation that he went out and got me a Nikon D90! I’ve taken THOUSANDS of photos in the past two months. I can’t put it down.
Now, because of your challenge, you’ve given me even more inspiration to get out there with my new, AWESOME, digital camera. Thanks for hosting this challenge. It is such a wonderful idea!
