American Idol – Season Finale
ByThe judges are all dressed up tonight. Simon has a sports jacket on and Randy just got done at clown school, apparently.
Is anyone else as surprised as I am that the season finale is already here? What am I going to write about? How can I get The Nester to visit my blog once a week? Somebody help me!
Adam Lambert - Mad World - Well, he is a smart boy singing this song, I was just listening to this song yesterday thinking that it was my favorite performance of his. Right now, with the smoke and the long coat it could be Ozzy Osbourne walking down the stairs, for all I know. Oh, wait, no, it is Adam.
I’m anticapting hearing the judges rave about him no matter what he sings, no matter how he performs. I’m pretty sure he could do the chicken dance and do somersaults after wards and Paula would call him a “shining star” and Simon would agree.
This song was good for me (again) because he didn’t SCREAM. HATE.THE.SCREAMING.
Simon’s shirt is pretty much completely unbuttoned, does he know this? Simon dared said “over-theatrical” and the judges are booing him. These judges truly have been soo annoying to me this season. Is it me? Is it them? I don’t know.
Kris Allen – Ain’t No Sunshine – Hello veins popping out of your neck. Hello arm muscles…how you doin’? I love it when he plays the piano, but my mind always drifts to him laying on it topless. It’s very distracting.
Seriously, though. I think he sounds great, but he’s awesome, so why wouldn’t he? He is a definite contender, I’m super glad that it’s him in the final two and not Danny. Much deserved.
I’m waiting for the judges to not like it because THAT’S WHAT THEY DO. But…HOLLA!!!!! RANDY LOVED HIS PERFORMANCE AND KARA, TOO! I don’t care what Paula says and Simon enjoyed it, as well..

Adam Lambert – Change is Going to Come - He looks very svelte in his shiny gray suit…When he furls his eyebrow he looks very angry, very gassy.
His vocals sounded very good, he did the yell that I can’t stand, but he still didn’t SCCRREEEAAMMM like he normally does. His did great. (see? aren’t I a good sportsman? vote for Kris, he loves kittens and gives his Mom singing coupons…)
Kris Allen – What’s Going On – I love how different Adam and Kris are, don’t you? I don’t think this is one of my favorite songs ever, but his vocals are great and I totally love the beat and the fact that he’s playing the guitar.
Wasn’t super duper, but wasn’t terrible.
Adam Lambert – new song I don’t know - So, I know I don’t know this song, but I’m thinking that maybe Adam doesn’t know it that well, either. He sounds very pitchy to me and he seems to be running out of breath a lot. Then again…he is not my favorite contender.
I don’t like this song right now. Maybe I will some other day, but right now, it’s totally annoys me.
Note to self: do not hire Kara to write a song for me.
Did you notice that Adam never really screamed tonight? Play it safe, much? Well, it’s true, man.
Kris Allen - new song I don’t know – ah, the song is called No Boundaries and it pretty much sucks – But already, his version is less annoying to me than Adam’s but that’s because Kris is awesome.
I honestly, honestly, honestly like his version better than Adam’s, it just made more sense.
Paula is dumb. The End.
But Simon said some kind parting words. And the show is over.
Sidenote: Carrie Underwood’s boots are rockin’. LOVE THEM. She and I look just alike. Didn’t you know that?
Well, I personally am hoping and praying that Kris wins…but I am not expecting it. We shall see.

I wish Kris would win, but I’ll bet Adam does.
Also, I just want to say, you could write the phone book, and it’d be amazing. You just have mad writing skillz, dawg. ;o)

I think that last song SUCKED all around and I don’t fault either one of them for not singing it all that well. Kara should have written a better song for petes sake.
It was a coin toss for me. I thought they both had good songs, great songs, and not so good songs. I’m anxious to see the winner.
Either way, they all will be big stars. And I bet Danny will be, too.

First of all, your comment about Randy being dressed for clown school made snot fly out of my nose with laughter. Second, I cannot stand Kara and her dumb comments and her animated head and neck and words all around. Third, I TOTALLY agree about Carrie Underwood’s rockin’ boots. I was actually annoyed when my DVR cut off because I was totally not done admiring them.
But Kris Allen on the piano, topless? Not for me, dawg. He seems like he’s so young, maybe even in middle school to me. I do think he’s extremely talented but I also think he’s very vanilla overall.
Now, I would not have pegged myself as an Adam Lambert fan and I still really don’t however I do think he deserves to win. He’s extremely talented, very unique and seems like a nice guy. I totally think he should win…I even voted for him tonight. Crazy!
Also, I don’t think it’s Adam’s screaming that turns you off because Steven Tyler screams and you’ve seen him in concert like 4700 times. I think it’s just that he reminds you of Amanda Overboring. The end.
Wasn’t that the sweetest about the singing coupons. His family is so stinkin adorable. He was awesome tonight and deserves to win…can’t wait till tomorrow!!!

I HEART Adam… always have… I think they’re both really good, but I think Adam is more of a performer… but Kris is more of an artist (in that he does the piano/guitar thing). I think they’re both good but as far as showing diversity… that has to go to Adam, no other contestant has sang EVERY TYPE OF SONG imaginable this season and done it his way… Kris sounds the same every time to me. And he totally forgot a lyric on the new song. I loved how at the end all of the judges said everything BUT what they wanted to say, which was he sucked on the final song… they kept saying “Judge him on the entire season! Just remember the rest of the season!” I think it’s going to be neck and neck.
I think Kris may well win. ANd I thought Carrie looked and sounded AMAZING.
Ok, this is my first time commenting here, but I always love your American Idol recaps. They always make me laugh and you can never have enough Idol, right?
As for the show tonight, I was completely disappointed. The first songs were great, but it just got worse from there. The songs and the judges were not making me happy tonight.
As for the boys, I, like you, am not an Adam fan. He is much too much of a performer for me. He certainly has a great voice, but I can’t stand the screaming.
I hope Kris wins because I think he has a great voice, even if I can’t stand actually watching him sing. And I think Adam will have a career either way. I wonder who Danny fans are more likely to vote for?
Can’t wait for tomorrow! But why is it that they are going over time when all they have to do is tell us who won? Their schedule drives me crazy!

Hi there! I am new to your blog and I love the lay out and the blog name and what is in it too. I just can’t relate to this even I am an avid viewer of American Idol because in this remote town in the Philippines that we moved in, there is no cable. I can’t watch my fave shows abroad now since we are living in the boonies.
Well, based on last night, Kris deserves it. Adam wasn’t all that great. If we’re going by commercial appeal alone, kris would sell that awful song better because he sang it better.
I think Kris had a chance, we’ll see how Adams fans voted. Plus, Kris gets gokey fans.
@ Rachel – Adam is the poster boy for singing every single song the exact same way! (Regarding Kris sounding the same every time). They both really showed their styles very well and very consistently through the entire season.
I prefer Kris, and it’s due completely to the fact that I prefer to listen to singing, not screaming/screeching.

Kris is my fave. I hope he wins, but am expecting Adam to win. As I was watching last night I said to my husband that I would buy an album by Kris right now. Adam – nope. He’s very talented and quite the performer, but just not my thing. And the screaming. oh the screaming.

Yep, I noticed there was much less screaming last night as well. At one point he did get to a screetching level and I finally realized why I have hated that all season. It reminds me of the noise my kids make right before I send them to timeout…FOREVER!

I have never been a fan of the American Idol song. Every year it is a disappointment. I think its very sad that Kris is (probably) going to lose to Adam because of the last song. I was really rooting for Kris, but over all, I think Adam just sang better. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if Kris manages to win!

Kris wins – I think most of Danny’s votes are going to go his way. I like them both, but edge towards Adam almost solely because of “Mad World”. But I still think Kris will get the popular vote.

I hope Kris wins. I’m an ’80s big hair metal band girl, so you’d think I’d prefer Adam, but he just gets on my nerves. Kris is so sweet and humble. And doesn’t yell.
I thought Kara’s song really stunk too. I think she kind of knew it…did you notice the look on her face after Kris had finished singing it? Kinda like, “Oh, well I thought my song would blow everyone away, but it really didn’t.” They should have stuck with doing the song-writing contest for the average joes like they usually do.
As usual, you do not disappoint. Loved Simon’s unbutton shirt, loved that Paula didn’t have on 76 accessories.

So, did you watch Glee? I hate to admit how much I’m gonna adore that show. Too bad it doesn’t come on till next fall or you could talk about that. I guess, you could talk about So you think you can dance but I don’t watch that show so it wouldn’t be that funny to me to read what you say.

I haven’t commented every week, but I have to tell you that I have thoroughly enjoyed your Idol recaps. They crack me up. Oh and now I’m going to have fantasies about Kris and the piano, so thanks for that too.
I have been an Adam fan from day 1 at the auditions and had him picked out to win before they even picked him for Hollywood. He just reminds me of a New Elvis. I hate the polish, eyeliner and buttons on the lobes though, Oh and the screaming. I love your Ozzie comment. I was trying to figure out what that reminded me of when he came out in that black coat..LOL…So, why do I like Adam??? Not sure, but I do. Kris has always reminded me of a fish. He is a cute boy and his parents are so sweet. He would make a great idol for the young kids. I do like how talented he is though with the piano and guitar. It’s anyone’s game and I will be happy for either one.
I cannot stand to watch Kris sing – looks like he’s having a seizure or something. I haven’t always been an Adam fan, but if you are going just on talent Adam wins hands down. Yes he screams, but he’s a rock and roll singer – ever listened to Steven Tyler, Mick Jaggar, even The Beatles – lots of screaming – that’s just what they do. Adam can sing every genre of music and make it his own – look what he did with Ring of Fire – not my particular favorite, but he made the song his own instead of trying and failing to imitate Johnny Cash. GO ADAM!!!!!
