It wasn’t my intention to run away from my blog like that. Nope, never thought I would have gone so long without posting in a million years, but I did because we’ve been so busy. I would sit at my computer and open up my blog dashboard and be like “oooh, how about I don’t blog right now and instead I go to twitter?“ or “look, there’s something shiny!“ or “Maybe after one more ice cream cone I’ll write a post.”
And then I didn’t.
We had the garage sale and the weather was great on Friday, on Saturday it was foggy, rainy and then all of a sudden it was freezing outside. Then I took a nap and ate Papa John’s.
It was delicious. (goes without saying, right?)
But then I ate too much and wanted to throw up. Overall the sale was a huge success.
Then on Sunday we woke up to the most amazing weather day ever. We worked outside, I cleaned (booo!) and did laundry (double boo!) and then I went grocery shopping. Later in the day I thought “I know, let’s have a WAY LAST MINUTE COOKOUT!“ So, we did! Sarah and Stephanie came over with their families. It was so fun. I decided to make steak kabobs which is funny because I had never made kabobs before and I also don’t make steak because I suck at it.
I decided to try again, this time for a whole group of people. Some people call me stupid…I call me, um…stupid. Because although the flavoring was quite delish, instead of plain ol’ steak, I made steak bubble gum. Which is not technically what people are looking for when they go to a cookout, so, let’s put a big red X in the STEAK COLUMN because FAIL. Steak should not take 29 minutes to chew. One piece.
But, Sarah Viola saved the day with s’mores and not just any s’mores but s’mores with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Stephanie’s son got the first one because he so DANG cute. He thought it was good but then I saw Stephanie eating it so he either changed his mind or Stephanie kicked him in the shins and stole it from him.
(I’m pretty sure she stole it.)
Sarah also brought strawberry marshallows to have with the regular Hershey bar s’mores. Ariel thought it was the greatest thing ever and came back about 50 times to the s’mores line.
It was an amazing night, the kind that was just too perfect and could never be replicated, but that’s okay, because OH MY GOD I’ll never forget it. The husbands may forget about it but that’s because they drank (A LOT) beer.

Then today Brian was home because he’s actually on vacation for the first time in years. (like a real vacation without working from home.) We went for a picnic and then to a park. It was fun. Really fun. (are you noticing that FUN is our theme this week? It’s true. It is.)

We took our shoes off and played in the grass.

I did a cartwheel. I’m sore.

Then we went for ice cream and shopped at Target.
Tonight, we grilled chicken and ate outside, the slight warm breeze and the birds and the sun starting to set and the beauty of my family sitting around our table was so perfect to me. (also? The chicken was grilled to perfection. Note to self: stick to chicken.) This day, I want to wrap it up and put it under my bed and take it out when I’m feeling down. It was perfect.
And now tomorrow are going on vacation…
A few months ago, Ford asked me to test drive one of their Hybrid vehicles and then we were planning on going on a road trip this summer so we put the two together and we leave tomorrow. We are staying at my sister’s in Louisville until Sunday, then we are driving to Michigan on Saturday and staying with my other sister. (where we will fish and go on a boat which is crazy because I DON’T DO WATER…but I’m going to, for the kids.) (I think.)
(probably not) (OKAY, I WILL, LEAVE ME ALONE.)
We have many fun (and inexpensive) things planned for this week and I can’t wait. FUN. That’s what this summer is going to about and it’s already blowing my mind.

I will be around a little bit this week, but I do have some guest writers coming this way, too. It’s going to be a great week.

HEY! The steak wasn’t that bad, FYI. And I loved Sunday night, too. Except for Monday morning when Asher woke up for the day at 7:05. Booo. He was probably hoping you were still going to be there when he woke up…
*cough* WOOO FIRST!
Have a great week!!!
Have lots and lots of fun and don’t miss us all too much!
ohhh. and dont see so much that you want to throw up.. not fun…
Laughing at the “a lot beer.” these photos are awesome and so were your kabobs!
Steph
Have an absolutely wonderful time on your road trip! And I’m seriously considering making those PB S’mores sans the marshmallows because marshmallows are horrible unless they’re in rice krispies treats and then they’re wonderful.
Yeah. So have a great time!
Glad to hear you are having so much fun. I’m jealous of your road trip. We have none planned for this summer. That is the sad part of going away for spring break. Loved your garage sale. Unfortunately, my girls liked a lot of my finds and they made their way to their houses. The joys of motherhood! Keep having fun and tell my friends I said hi. Wish they would have been awake when I was there. By the way, the toys were a huge hit.
Sounds like a blast!
And have a great time on your road trip.
While you’re talking to Ford, tell them they should honor my warranty. It was only 500 miles over. BAH.
I’m not bitter. No.
laughing at:
the woo first comment…seriously.
and that you’re sore from a cartwheel. (only because i thought i seriously strained something a few weeks ago as i tried to teach chloe!!)
and steph kicking her son in the shins. =)
seriously, what is better than a reese’s cup and toasted marshmallow?! LOVE.
SO happy you’re enjoying summer…have a great trip!!
Fun is supposed to be the theme of summer!! So enjoy it this week!! and make sure you come tell us all the fun things you are doing so we can live vicariously through you!! Enjoy the road trip!
That is awesome! Have fun.
Most of the best moments in life are spent with the ones you love. The comfort and security of great friendship is such a beautiful thing. Have a fantastic vacation!
Have a fantastic and reenergizing vacation!
Vacation…you lucky lady! Hope you have a great time.
I am awful at steak too, so you are not alone there. Hubby has to do it. I ruined a pretty big cut of meat and have been banned ever since!
Have a fabulous time!
And I must try Sarah’s smores. YUM!
So glad you had a good time! YAY FUN!!
And yeah, that’s why I don’t cook. I can burn water….let alone the high talent of cooking the perfect steak. That is, after all, why I married my husband!
before I even started reading…I scanned down and saw the picture of “THE S’MORE”!! OMG…I just have to say that I have recently discovered “THE S’MORE” and am in HEAVEN!!! I am obsessed!! So much so I even tried to make them in the microwave when it was raining (doesn’t even compare!!)…ok…now back to your blog..I’ve missed you!!!
I know what you mean about the moments that you would like to wrap up and take out when needed!! What I love so much about you, is that no matter how busy or hectic life is…you notice those moments and savor them. You place them right there in your heart….thank you!!! I will keep you in my thoughts while you are travelling….enjoy your family!!! xoxo!!
Wow, sounded like a fun time. I might have crashed the party if I weren’t sick in bed with the flu. I love the picture of my little Noah with the s’more. Have a fun road trip.
I see you are first in your voting! WTG!
I hope you win.
Totally awesome that you get to get a car to try out! Have a great time!
And I am glad you are ok-I was checking every day for an update to your sale
Ohmygoodness!! A Reese’s cup on a S’more!! What a great idea! I am SO going to the store to get S’more fixin!!
Looks and sounds like you got your vacation off to a wonderful start. Have fun and be safe.
P.S. Totally making s’mores like that VERY soon…
WOOHOOOOO! A review of a car, coolbeans! enjoy you trip and as for the water? I try so hard not to let my kids know that I hate water, but uh I think they are on to me!
Those smores look fabulous!!! I hope you have fun on the boat on the lake. I’m on Lake Michigan! (Just don’t go swimming…it’s still really cold!)
I am still so sad that I had to miss out on those killer s’mores thanks to school (And Shane is pouting that he missed out on all the beer, of course), but I am so, so glad that you had a fabulous weekend.
Give your sister a hug for me because I miss her. I miss you, also. We have to get together when you get back before I start to go into some serious Beth withdrawal.
That picture of you daughter is most beautiful!
Jen
I hope you have a great time on your trip!!!
Those s’mores look/sound so good! So does the thought of Miller Lite! But not together because that would be gross. Sometimes.
Peanut butter cup s’mores will definitely make an appearance next time we go camping. I’m going to dream of them tonight I think.
The flower picture is beautiful and I want to put it in my house even though it matches absolutely nothing.
ok, so all turned out well at your impromptu bbq is what I read and everyone was happy!
Have fun on your trip and be safe!
amazing, to find the fun in everything! sometimes it takes work and sometimes it takes energy! Just enjoy!!
I’ve made my share of horrible steaks, too! I’m pretty sure your kabobs were tough simply because of the cut of meat. It’s pricy, but you can never go wrong with tenderloin.
I am seriously craving smores now! I have a package of strawberry marshmallows in my cupboard so I am set. I am usually a lurker, but just wanted to say how much I look forward to reading your blog. And I love the design! I am saving my pennies to hire Ruby & Roja. (I don’t have a “real” blog, but I would like it to look pretty.
Anyway, have a great week!
I had a similar weekend in that I had a yard sale and also had a really nice time doing relaxing “summer stuff” with my family! Enjoy your trip
Oh, and one other thing…S’mores with reese’s cups should be illegal. That’s way too much goodness in one dessert. I must try that sometime soon.
Looks like you had a great week!
We’re currently having our first day of sunshine after two weeks of rain. Two weeks! I’m looking forward to some summer fun too!
Beer and s’mores with Reese’s? Sounds like heaven!
I’m going to have to introduce these smores with peanut butter cups to my kids – I’m sure they will be a BIG HIT!
Looks like a great time! Strawberries and Smores….yummy!
(Wants to move to NW Indiana every time you blog about doing stuff with your “girls.”)
Other than that, I just love to hear you sounding so happy. For Pete’s sake don’t blog – go enjoy that beautiful family and take a million pictures.
