I love summer. Today was unbelievably hot, by far the hottest day this year. We spent the majority of the day, no, we spent ALL day inside the house all cooped up because it was so darn hot outside. I found myself getting frustrated that we spent all winter waiting to go outside and then summer finally comes and it’s too hot to go outside.
But tonight, I just had to get out. I started weeding my garden. And then I started sweating. And then my daughter came out to talk to me. It was very sweet. I picked up my camera and captured summer. Right there in my yard.
We moved into this house on July 1 of last year. Last year at this time, our yard was dirt, mud, weeds. It has come a long way. I love that when I see my house, I see summer.

This was my daughter’s third outfit today. For no other reason then to change clothes. But that’s okay. I don’t mind.

Summer sprinkling is always a necessity.

And you know what else screams summer to me? WEEDS. These particular weeds remind me of when I was younger. Back then I thought they were wonderful flowers.

But no. Just weeds. Really cute weeds.

Did you have fun this week? I hope you did. We certainly spent a lot of time playing in kiddie pools and sprinklers, have I mentioned I love summer? Because I do. A lot.
Now it’s your turn to share your summer goodness.
But first!

HAPPY CAPTURING, FRIENDS!

i’m no photographer, but i got some good shots of our flowers a few months back. thought i’d share!
Oh, I love these so much!!! Even the weeds. ;o)
Love the Americana of your front porch and you’re daughter’s dress? Makes me want to run in the grass barefoot – I have no idea why. I think I’ve conjured up a movie scene!
I love that shot of Ariel!
We spent the day indoors as well because it was just too hot, and I thought the same thing…we spend ALL winter confined to the house looking forward to summer. Hopefully tomorrow we can enjoy it a little more.
I love the one of your daughter! I think it’s so fun how girls change clothes so many times in a day.
Aww the weeds are cute! I love summer too
Yay! First week that i’m joining in the challenge!
Love the sprinkler photo.
Love that multi-change outfit shot! Nothing says summer like a big ol’ load of laundry! My son changes anytime he gets wet or dirty, so 3 is probably as average day too during the summer!
I was looking thru blogs I have visited in the past, and came back to yours. How fun to see everyone’s ‘birds eye view’ of summer. It is so neat to see how different, and yet the same in many ways we all are. Beautiful pictures of life!
Your home is lovely. Especially love your rocking chairs.
I have the opposite problem. I can’t get my children to change their clothes. LOL
We are 25 days into winter here and I miss summer so much!! love the pics am jealous and yes when summer comes around I will wish its cooler…
Great shots! And love those weeds…especially when they’re brought to you by a sweet baby (“Here’s a ‘flower’ for you, Mommy!”).
I love doing this every week. You have some really great shots, the lighting and composition in that shot of your daughter was really cool.
Love your shots! They are all so summery. The colors and lighting in your house shot looked so much like summer that I felt hotter! I love the crop on your daughter’s outfit. Awesome.
Your pictures seriously blow my freaking mind.
Just so you know.
Beautiful!
Great captures! I have one of those girls that changes all day long, too!
I love the picture with the sprinkler. They’re all really good. Thanks for doing this.
Gorgeous shots! I love the beautiful weeds!
I love the beautiful weeds, too! Just don’t tell our neighbor.
I also love changing clothes just to change clothes and sprinklers.
I had to miss this one because I’ve done nothing but sit inside and lament my swollen, stupid mouth, which is not very summery, and also, I highly doubt anyone wants to see photos of my half-swollen face.
This is my first week too!
I love the house pic. It looks so inviting.
Uhh, when I hit enter to enter my comment, it somehow jumped up to the mr linky and entered my link from last week. Auto fill and spazzy Erin fail! Can you delete it?
Beautiful summer captures.
awesome pics, beth!! this week’s theme rocked hard!!
love all of your pictures! Yay FOR summer.
Leave it to you to capture the different angles and aspects of summer. What a great job. I love the house, the clothes and the sprinkler. But your Queen Anne’s Lace and daisy weed shots almost make me nostalgic and definitely make me grateful. I appreciate the fact that you thought my weeds were flowers when you were little. What a good girl!
Great photos!
I absolutely love this whole idea…I’m very excited to start doing it!! I’ll need to brush up on my picture taking skills :]
Love the pictures–and I never thought I’d say this, but I’m jealous of the “hot” you’ve been having. We’ve had nothing but rain this month. We had our first glimpse of sun in almost two weeks–today. So I got a few shots in of the boats who have been waiting all year for June to arrive.
Thanks for hosting this. I just found it via HeatheroftheEO and I’m so glad I did!

Your house is lovely!
And an outfit change several times a day is VERY necessary. Every day is a fashion show, right?
Beth,
I just joined the site, and I’m not sure I’m doing the linking right. When I hit your “go here” link, it took me to a page that claimed nothing could be displayed.
I love your weeds shots, and no I did not know that those were weeds. They are to perty to be weeds!
My daughter also has MANY outfit changes throughout the day which drives me mad. So much laundry and the whole debate, is it clean or dirty?…how long did she wear it?….are there any visible stains?….nope, still clean!
Your house looks so warm and inviting. Can I come sit on the front porch with you and sip some spiked lemonade? Pretty please?
I have several good ideas for You Capture! How about some shape challenges? Lines, circles, squares. Maybe movement. You could do some that focus on facial features, like eyes. Girl, feel free to pick my brain anytime
Thank you so much for You Capture! It’s really my favorite time of the week!
I know what you mean about it being too hot to be outside. It is like that today out here.
I wish I could come up with some ideas for you, but I don’t know you have done before because I’m pretty new to this. I’ll offer some suggestions and you can “weed” them out like you would your flower bed!

Lovely pictures! My favourite is your daughters summer outfit
I have just discovered You Capture. What a lovely idea! Your summer photos are beautiful. They bring back good memories of being a kid and running through sprinklers
I finally got a post up for this week! Seems like forever since I got any pictures up!! Thanks for hosting this every week! It’s so fun to see everyone’s idea of your choice of topic!
Those are great! I love Summer! Spring is my favorite but Summer is just so much fun…especially this year since school is over!
Check out my “SUMMER ROCKS” collection of photos
These first two really scream “summer” to me. Especially that pretty white skirt!
Great summer captures. I love your daughter in the grass. Also love your front porch.
I’m so glad summer is here!

very great idea! beautiful pictures you have for summer. i use to pick those weed flowers for my mom as a child – she, of course, loved them.
