Erin posted about her CRAZY, WILD LABOR AND DELIVERY and the unusual place where it all happened.  It is a must read.  Grab a kleenex.

The World is Brighter Now

July 18th, 2009

A baby is born.

The baby?

Thomas 5616 WM

Perfect.

The Mama?

Erin & Thomas 5696 WM

She is Super Woman. (and so lovely.)

The birth story?

You won’t believe.  But it’s not mine to tell.  Hopefully Erin will tell you about it tomorrow on her blog.  It is nothing short of amazing.

Everyday

July 17th, 2009

I just finished a large iced mocha from McDonald’s.   Everyday for the last three days the kids and I have gone to Target and then gone to McDonald’s for an iced mocha.

My favorite part is the very bottom where there is whip cream and mocha and a tiny bit of espresso.  It’s so yum that it encourages me to get through the entire mocha, which I don’t think is all that delicious, just to get to the bottom.  It’s like crossing the finish line.

I definitely think I am feeling the effects of my thyroid dose being increased, I can’t believe how much better I feel, more human, less tired.  This week we have been so social going to friend’s houses and playing outside.  I have been telling people “no” all summer when invited over because I couldn’t go without a nap.  This week I have gone two days without a nap which is a big step in the right direction.

This is a random post, can you tell?

Erin is not in labor, but her time is quickly approaching…today she and I had pedicures, it was so great, not just to have someone rubbing my poor, neglected feet, but to just sit with Erin and chat.  We went to a very fun salon that actually sold some great clothing, jewelry and sandals.  I loved it and can’t wait to go back.  (just kidding, Brian, I won’t go back.)

(I’m totally going back.)

Right now the kids and I are eating Reese’s Puffs cereal out of the box.  Ariel asked if they were healthy because I typically only let them snack on healthy things, I told her no, but that’s okay, sometimes it’s fun to not follow all of the rules.

Blogher is next weekend and I am getting so nervous.  There will be so much to do and so many people to meet and I’m overwhelmed with places to go and parties to attend and clothes to wear.  I realize it’s a good problem to have, (I think?), but when I think about it, my stomach turns into a gigantic knot.  I spent the afternoon with Sarah and Stephanie and they are 100 times more organized than I am.

They’re such jerks.  I plan on posting my schedule on my blog in a few days, for those that are wondering.  (Steph’s idea.  I think it’s a good one.)

I think I need religion back in my life.  Since losing James and Jake, I haven’t been able to focus on it, or feel it.  I can’t describe what I’m not feeling, all I know is I think I’m gaining the need for religion once again and I’m really glad.  Not just for me, but for my entire family.  I think we are going to explore some different avenues and see where we are led.

Monday marks James and Jake’s due date.  They should be one right now.  I still can’t believe any of this has happened to us.

book

I took this photo at Lovelyn’s.  The Bible sat in her daughter’s room, so beautifully and simply, on her dresser, waiting to be picked up and read.  This book gave me encouragement, the gentle nudge I have been needing to go to church again. It just seemed so beautiful to me.

I’m praying it feels as good to me as I’m hoping it does.

But I admit, I have trust issues with God.  I’m trying to change, I’m trying to BELIEVE that everything has happened for a reason, but it’s so hard.

You Capture – Shapes

July 15th, 2009

Hi friends.  I have to say, I think I could possibly go with shapes as our theme every single week, wouldn’t that be fun?  No?  Not so much?  A little boring, you say?

Either way, I had a really, REALLY fun time with this one mainly because I was at my friend Lovelyn’s house and her house is AMAZING and I could take pictures of her house all day long and guess what?  I did.

The coolest thing is that Lovelyn is like a million times more amazing than her house which says a lot because her house is AMAZING.  (I can’t seem to stress that enough.)  And being the psychotic freak that I am, I walked around her house and took pictures for like three hours.

I’m good company.  Do not ever invite me to your home.

I had to sort through all of the lovelies I took and narrowed it down to six.  So, let’s get started.

First, I bought this bracelet back in April, it has four butterflies and four hearts on it and I adore it, so much.  It’s very much a part of me now.  I love that’s it’s in the shape of a circle yet is made up of two different shapes and it’s on Lovelyn’s orange couch.

I currently really, really like orange.  Don’t you just love the texture of her couch against the bracelet?  I do.

my bad ass bracelet

I love it when I really like my own photos.  I really like these.  Probably because I really like my bracelet.  And orange.

This is her entry way.  SO MANY RECTANGLES.

Lovelyn has four (adorable, well-behaved) daughters.  This pile of tin boxes was in her daughter’s room.  Perfectly situated.

squares

I love that this photo is filled with circles and cylinders.

so many circles

Here is Lovelyn’s backsplash in her kitchen.  Magnificent, no?

colored squares

I have many more photos that I intend to share with all of you.  I’m sure if you are half as nosey as I am, you’ll be back to see what else is inside her home.  Am I right or am I right?

So now, IT’S YOUR TURN, BABY, but first, some of you are signing Mr. Linky which is beautiful and awesome but you’re not linking back to You Capture which is NOT beautiful and awesome.  So, if you are new here…just a quick run through of the directions (below) would be very much appreciated, k?  I will be deleting links for those that aren’t complying this week which is annoying because deleting links is annoying.

1.  You can join in on this challenge at any time!  We welcome & love new participants.
2.  Please make sure you are linking directly to your specific You Capture post in Mr. Linky (and not just your site, for instructions, go here) and please make sure you are linking back to this challenge in your post.  If you don’t abide by this, your link will be removed.  (I know, I’m so mean.)
3.  Try your hardest not to reuse a picture from your archives, the goal of You Capture is to get you moving with your camera, get creative!  Challenge yourself!
4.  Do your best to visit the other participants’ site – everyone loves the traffic, the comments and the feedback (not just you!)
5.  And finally, post as many pictures as you want on your post.

next-week2

Next week’s challenge will be about editing – BLACK AND WHITE!  (to be posted on July 23rd.)

Whether you use, Photoshop, Picasa or Picnik, have fun with processing.  It’s my favorite part!  (Happy capturing AND processing!)

I did just find out about a new photo editing software that is being offered for FREE.  I have never used it before, but thought you guys may find it useful, especially since it’s FREE. Anyone can download Aurora to own it forever – for free – between 9:15 am EST on 7/15 and 9:15 am EST on 7/16.  Just visit www.lightcrafts.com/aurora, select “buy now,” and enter FREE24 at checkout.

If you try it out, let me know what you think!

Now’s it’s your turn to share!

Best

July 14th, 2009

Did I tell you that last Friday night I had insomnia?  It was HORRENDOUS.  I went to bed at one and laid awake until 5:30 in the morning.  I thought I was going to die.  Erin, Sarah and I had planned a Saturday morning walk, Sarah and I are trying to watch our girlish figures and we are trying to induce Erin who is about to have a baby any minute now.

I had to miss the walk because Mama needs her sleep.  I was so sad because I missed out on their walking adventure.

Couldn’t you just pinch and squeeze and squish on them all day long?

Last November we had all planned a night out at a charity event.  Erin was like “I’m not going to drink because I had a migraine and I took migraine medicine.“  We were all like “awww…poor thing, how do you feel now?”

I emailed Erin the next day and I said something to the tune of “I’d like to go on record and say that you are in fact pregnant and your migraine story was a lie.  YOU BIG PREGNANT LIAR.”

She replied back confirming my beliefs and telling me how awesome and brilliant and beautiful I was.

or maybe just confirming my beliefs, whatever.

Her big day is coming, LIKE SOON.  She doesn’t know what she’s having which just adds to this excitement, don’t you think?

I plan to be in the room with her, camera in hand, hopefully offering her something at some point during labor that can be of use to her.  I’m excited and honored to be there with her.

One year ago I did not know Erin, but when you connect, you connect and the amount of time you know someone just doesn’t make a difference.

We connect.

One year ago I was waiting for and dreading July 20th, James and Jake’s due date.  My arms, my heart, empty.

The last time I was in a delivery room was this photo was taken, while pushing with James and Jake:

I’m pretty sure that this experience with Erin is going to conjure up some emotions that I have become pretty good at suppressing, but I’m okay with that.  I think I’ll be okay.

I just know my boys will be with me, ready to introduce Erin’s baby to her, the baby I KNOW they already know.

and that just adds to my excitement.
