Snapfish Giveaway.

August 11th, 2009

Giveaway is over! *WINNERS*  Lindsey & Helen!  Congrats!

***

I feel so lucky to have been sponsored by Snapfish for Blogher – I love the company and their products and it’s all focused on photography, which makes it double (triply?  quadrupally?) awesome.  (leave me alone, I’m allowed to make up words.)

As if them sponsoring wasn’t generous enough, they are hosting two really cool giveaways for my (beautiful and friendly) readers.  (that would be you.)

So, let’s cut to the chase.

Today I am giving away a $35 gift certificate to Snapfish to TWO LUCKY READERS.  Have you been to Snapfish lately?  You can buy A LOT with $35.  Cups, post cards, PRINTS, calendars, it’s a DREAM OF A GIVEAWAY, if you ask me.

What do you need to do to win?

THAT’S EASY.

Just leave me a comment telling me one of your favorite moments of summer so far.  Maybe you went on a picnic with your family or you sat alone on your front porch and watched the storm clouds roll in.  ANYTHING.   Just tell me about it.

The winners will be chosen randomly, so please do not say PICK ME because that, my friends, is annoying.

But wait, you can gain other chances to win, here’s how:

*tweet about this giveaway and leave the link to the tweet in a separate comment.

*blog about this gvieaway and leave the link to your post in a separate comment.

*post about this on Facebook and leave the link to your post in a separate comment.

Wow.  That’s a lot of chances to win.

The contest ends Thursday, August 13th at 9:00 pm CST.

Good luck and special thanks to Snapfish!

One of my favorite summer moments has been when my sweet little 4 year old daughter threw her floaties to the way side and decided to swim without them! Her 2 older brothers swim, dive off the diving board and go down the slide and she wanted to be just like them :) I love watching her swim!

I love snapfish. It’s the main place I get my photos developed!

My favorite memory of the summer thus far would be from June when we went to a good friend’s wedding. It was a beautiful day!

My fav moment of summer? Not sure of my fav, actually, I really loved cherry picking, and going to the beach, and gardening with my daughter… plus a ton of other stuff.. I think cherry picking was awesome, though. Sweet, sticky, fun!

One of my favorite summer moments, was our backyard camping trip. We had a campfire (in the fire pit) and roasted marshmellows, sang camp songs (our neighbors probably thought we were crazy) and all slept in the tent with the dog (he loved it). It was a great memory and anyone who knows me knows I took enough pictures of every moment to fill a scrapbook!

So many, especially since today was the first day in about
a month that we had summer weather. We set up everything
this year for the first time, i.e. garden, pool, deck extension -flower gardens and it’s been freezing.

However, our highlight, definitely, was an abandoned
bird (a beautiful bady robin) who we named Fred.
Fred is hard to describe, but within days, he became our
baby. Fred sits on the end of a shovel waiting for his
worms, he walked down the street (instead of flying) behind
my dog and I. He has brought a smile to everyone who
meets him, even people who are skittish about birds.
An elderly couple who saw Fred walking behind us – they
took videos! Fred lands on the front railing when I go to
let the dog out. Thankfully, we are doing renovations in
a big way, as Fred literally thinks it’s fine to come in
side and walk around. He greets my son everyday when he
comes home from work, hops on his Jeep and up on to his
shoulder. He likes sitting on my head more. I can’t begin
to tell you what this little abandoned robin has done for
everyone who meets him, and watching our 3 year old neighbour and her parents come over and feed Fred, and
teach their daughter about him, and her special Fred
conversations (like let’s go for a walk Fred). Fred lets
you know when he is hungry, when he is tired, and other than
spraying off the deck, he truly is the epitome of taking
    a village to raise a … bird :) Can’t imagine when it’s
time to fly south, but my son bought Fred a cockatiel cage,
complete with his own bath. Fred, once in awhile, flies
away now that he is older, but comes back to sleep. I’m
sure he’s socializing. :) Hard to write a short comment
when it comes to this little bird. He is pure joy and
smiles. And he goes to sleep when we cover him!

I’ve loved everything about summer! Living in the midwest means we don’t get such nice weather all the time. I’m enjoying the sunshine, the birds, weekends at the beach, cookouts, taking my puppy for long walks, the humming of our a/c, driving with the windows down, the smell of fresh cut grass, cold showers and digging/planting my very first garden.

Thanks so much for the contest.

One of my favorite moments this summer was during my 12 year old’s – 12 and under baseball team’s tournament play in Cooperstown. His forte is pitching and is usually the starting pitcher but struggled in the first game they played and he had to be pulled. Because of the no substitution rule they have there, he was completely out the whole rest of that game. He didn’t get a chance to get his nerves calmed and get in the swing of the tournament like everyone else. He struggled in the next game too.

In the third game we had bases loaded and two outs. Guess who was up to bat? Yep, it was my young one. I take all the pictures for the team ( and even started a group room on snapfish to share our Cooperstown pictures) but I walked to the back of the observation area and closed my eyes. I actually started crying as I was praying – please Lord… just give him good memories from this once in a lifetime opportunity. With that I heard the crack of the ball on the bat and everyone started screaming. Hit he a GRAND SLAM OVER THE WALL HOME RUN. His hit brought in 4 runs. He was the only one on the team to hit a grand slam (there were several home runs). My prayers were answered as ran around those bases with a huge smile .. and a great memory for a life time!

Its hard for me to choose the best memory of the summer for me. It could be all the time I’ve spent with my mother working on invitations and other projects for the wedding but I think it has to be the trip to Holiday World with old friends. I know it seems silly to call them old friends being as I am only in my 20′s but one of said friends I believe I hadnt talked to in almost three years before running into them at another friends wedding. Its really sad that I let that happen as our town is NOT big in any way. We had so much fun remembering the same trip we took six years ago fresh out of high school. I will miss my friends dearly when I get married as I am moving two hours away so it really has to be the best memory of the summer for me. It was a day full of memories (and pictures) that I will be able to take with me.

The summer has been great all-around. But I think the best was the one day the ice cream truck came through the neighborhood I actually had cash on me (that is a small miracle) and we ran out to get a treat. This was the first time it has happened all summer so my 4 year-old was beyond thrilled. I’ll remember the way she enjoyed it too. Like it was Christmas or something. Good memories from this summer for sure.

    Thanks Beth!

It’s a tie. I was going to say my favorite summer moment occurred yesterday when we took our 3 girls to Cedar Point (amazing amusement park in Sandusky, OH). We stayed from opening to closing and had a blast.

But there’s another part of this summer that I will never forget. My 5 year old has been a “reluctant swimmer.” Never comfortable in the water, never keeping up with kids her age or her older sister. Lots of swim lessons last summer and a few weeks this summer, but still nothing. Then she got a new teacher. An older woman who wouldn’t take no for an answer. My baby finally got it and with it came the best part — the true joy of being in the water. I never cared if she was a swim team type swimmer. I just wanted her to have fun. And now she does. So, for me, the joy of summer of 2009 is best summed up by watching my beautiful almost-kindergartener throw herself in the water with reckless abandon and a huge grin on her face. It’s nothing other kids aren’t doing — but she is doing it and she is beaming with pride and happiness. What could be better?!

My favorite memory of this summer comes from our vacation in Maryland. We visited a small town carnival. Oh the joys! The carnival rides were not run by carnies, but by the volunteer firefighters. It was so great and we have decided that we are going to move to the area in about 2 years, after we get some things done where we are currently living.
