We took the kids to the fair tonight. They got to choose whatever they wanted for dinner, they chose corn dogs and I do not understand that decision at all.
You don’t understand that your kids made the BEST FOOD CHOICE EVER? Because I totally would’ve gone for the corn dogs, too, unless you were offering cotton candy as a dinner choice (and I’m pretty sure you weren’t).
I LOVE fair food, it’s like my favorite thing in the world. I have to walk around to every stand before I decide on what to eat. Then you order and someone has something that looks better, so you just gotta get that too.
Don’t even get me started on the funnel cakes and elephant eats… ok, need to go to the fair now.
My husband and I keep toying with the idea of making gourmet corn dogs with real German bratwurst and super yummy cornbread (made home style with – yep you guessed it – bacon fat) and served with gourmet honey dijon mustard. I’m pretty sure it would be beyond amazing. And also add 3 inches to my waistline.
Having grown up in Indiana and going to the HUGE state fairs (not to mention all the lovely county fairs), I still (almost 14 years later) have culture shock about our State Fair here in Delaware. There are no county fairs. And while ours is getting bigger, it’s no where near as big as yours.
ANd after a week solid of fair food, a corn dog did sound okay to me.
Zakary…I actually did see several veggie options at our fair, but alas not a corn dog.
Mmmm…I loves me some corndogs. Especially at the fair when they are all crunchy and delicious on the outside with that hot dog goodness on the inside! Then, it would be funnel cake time.
YAY! POGO!! is the brandname of these up here. We buy them by the box as a “treat”. I dont’ like them as much as the boys do. I thinkit’s because the bun doesn’t fall part.
Yum…those corn dogs look delicious. I never liked them as a kid, but do as an adult…go figure. How is your county fair going on now, simultaneously with the state fair? I thought the state fair occurred after all the county fairs were finished and then all of those winners went down to Indy. Just trying to wrap my brain around it…I’m no 4-H”er”
hmmm…good question, Amy. But I have no idea. We went to the Lake County fair and come to think about it, the only animal we saw was a camel, who was charging $5 to ride on him, so maybe the animal exhibits were over. I thought I was purposefully avoiding the smell, er, I mean, the animals. But maybe they weren’t there!?
Would you believe that I have never had a corn dog? I don’t think that I’ve even ever seen one in person… My favorite fair food is french fries with vinegar and fresh squeezed lemonade.
Mmmmmm corndogs…..I think it’s the stick. Everything is better on a stick! Bananas on a stick, meat on a stick, pie on a stick, cheesecake on a stick….
OMG!!!!! if i had the choice to have corndogs every day (and also the guarantee that i wouldn’t gain weight!) i would have three or four a day……i think it’s an acquired taste!
I’m with you on the corn dogs but I have to say those are two beautiful children which helped you create this very beautiful picture. No wonder you’re such a great photographer!!! lol
I totally missed our state fair this year, but our county fair is in 2 weeks and I am very excited to go this year! A couple of years ago a couple got married on the main drag (why can I not remember the name of it) I got a shot of them getting their food from a stand full bridal get-up and all!
And corn dogs are the best!! Well, I could just eat the outer part and leave the dog for the trash, but hubs doesn’t like that much.
In the great state of OHIO (go Buckeyes), the state fair is weeks before most county fairs. All 4-H exhibits other than animals go, like the creative writing and sewing projects, but the animals don’t really go to the state fair, because they are sold at the county fair and then, you know, made into corn dogs. But don’t tell Ariel and Racecar that.
Oh. my. Gosh that looks good! I personally LOVE corn dogs and the ones at the Texas State Fair are world renowned (Fletcher’s) and perfect with a ton of mustard slathered on. OH YEAH! Of course now I want one or two or three…
#1. It’s really quite unfortunate that your children aren’t even a little bit cute. *Ahem*
#2. I’m insanely jealous of their dinner. In fact, I have just now decided to take R&B back to the fair one day next week JUST so I can have a corndog for lunch on that day. Thank you.
#3. Is 10:22 p.m. too late to call your house? I’m assuming the answer is yes. So…I’ll call you in the morning! M’kay? M’kay!
Looks like a great choice to me! Do you know I’ve never had one before …. ever…so neither has my kid. But he will and I will. We’ll have one together!
My kids would totally choose the same thing! I personally don’t care for them at all, but they would eat them all day, every day if I’d let them!
I wonder what the allure is…must be the stick.
You don’t understand that your kids made the BEST FOOD CHOICE EVER? Because I totally would’ve gone for the corn dogs, too, unless you were offering cotton candy as a dinner choice (and I’m pretty sure you weren’t).
But just look at those faces…pure happiness in their food choice. And I’m still bummed about the stale funnel cakes. Boo.
We call them Pluto Pups. Yum!
oh, they are YUMMY….all 4 of them! =)
I LOVE fair food, it’s like my favorite thing in the world. I have to walk around to every stand before I decide on what to eat. Then you order and someone has something that looks better, so you just gotta get that too.

I did the same thing with the food, walked around FOREVER trying to decide.
And I was saving room for a funnel cake but the ones I found were sitting under a lamp. I need mine fresh!
Corn Dogs… Yummy! Yummy! Yummy!
Maybe it’s the kid in me, but I love a corn dog at the fair. Yummy doesn’t even describe it.
What???? Fair Corn Dogs are THE BEST!!!
My kids are only allowed to eat vegetarian corn dogs.
I’m pretty sure the fair doesn’t have that.
When you open up your fair food restaurant, please have that as an option.
P.S. How did Ariel not get that ketchup everywhere? Man, your kids are magic.
K, will add veggie corn dogs to the menu! Just for you.
The person at the stand slathered her dog with the goods.
OMFG I <3 corndogs. Gimme.

Corn dogs would be pretty high on my list, too, probably. What’d YOU choose?
Nachos supreme, of course. And deep fried cheddar bites.

What?! Not every state has county fairs like us? That’s horrible!
And I’ve never been to the BIG ONE, maybe next year.
Oh, man. They went all healthy on you. Now me? I would have gone for doughboys with a ton of powdered sugar. Nice and nutritious.
I totally get it. Corn Dogs and me go together pretty well.
I would sooo have chosen a corndog for dinner if I could! Loved them when I was a kid. I love the little miss’s expression! Great picture Beth!
Mmmm…I loves me some corndogs. Especially at the fair when they are all crunchy and delicious on the outside with that hot dog goodness on the inside! Then, it would be funnel cake time.
YUMMO!

I totally would have bought a corndog for dinner too. Especially a footlong one! YUM. My favorite fair food. Followed closely by Saratoga chips.
I love the fair and the corndogs!!! They are my favorite!
My kids LOVE corndogs…but they take all of the breading off! I think the allure is the stick!
My fave fair food is Navajo Taco’s! (Like scones, but with taco food on top!)
Ohhhhh, I love corndogs. I think its that sweet/salty/fried thing. And mustard, for sour. It’s the whole package.
And the stick.
Meat on a stick. Awesome.

i LOVE corndogs. the end.
Oh don’t you? I could eat fair hot dogs, big pickles, and funnel cakes all day long! If allowed…which I’m not. lol
Nell
Love the pic. Not a huge fan of corn dogs per se, but am a fan of the fair food in general. Dangit now I am hungry.
P.S. How to you get the Twitter ID think in your comments. Is that a WP plug in?

Yep, those both trump a corn dog for me, too. Next year I’m coming with.
I love fair food. Hubby went to a concert last night at our county fair, had fair food without me. How he is still alive I don’t know. lol
My kids would pick corn dogs. At the State Fair they get the foot long ones. So yummy…
Oh. my. Gosh that looks good! I personally LOVE corn dogs and the ones at the Texas State Fair are world renowned (Fletcher’s) and perfect with a ton of mustard slathered on. OH YEAH! Of course now I want one or two or three…
Great pic! Perfect Summer fun…
Did you see the corn dog booth that had corn dogs with little faces on them? Creepy!
Because corn dogs are delicious! With mustard especially! Smart kids.
Corn Dogs from the Fair are THE best Corn Dogs in the WORLD! Yummy!
