I had a really cool weekend.

On Friday I headed to downtown Chicago where I spent almost 24 hours with five of the coolest, smartest, most gifted and compassionate women in the entire universe.  I am convinced of this, so you must take my word for it.  Right now I can’t tell you why I did this because it’s not ready to be public, but I will and you will love it.  It has nothing to do with blogging or the blog world or marketing (THANK GOD)…it has to do with LIFE and creating the best life and oh…you will love it.

I know I’ve said that twice.  That’s because it’s true.

I came home from Chicago at four on Saturday, Brian, the kids and I were supposed to jump into the car and head to the last two hours of a local festival.  I walked into the door, the kitchen was clean and I could hear tapping.  The kids didn’t come running to me, everything was calm.  I walked into the living and there they were, Brian, Anna and Noah playing The Beatles Rock Band.  Brian bought it and didn’t tell me, they started playing the minute I left on Friday afternoon and basically never stopped.

I love The Beatles.  I immediately picked up the microphone and we were our own version of THE FAB FOUR for the rest of the night.

It was awesome.

I took a break from “our set” and called my parents.  “YOU MUST COME OVER AND SEE WHAT WE HAVE.  I’LL ORDER PIZZA.”  So, they did and they loved it.  Although they didn’t participate, I could see how much they enjoyed seeing this awesome tribute to The Beatles.

They now own it.

Noah’s favorite song: “Eight Days a Week.”  Anna’s favorite song: “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.”  They have learned so many of these songs that were part of my childhood and it’s just awesome.  I love it.

Unfortunately, once the kids and I went to bed on Saturday night (freakishly early, I might add), Brian had to stay up and work and work and work.  He worked until 8:30 in the morning.  I was up with the kids, eating 700 bowls of cereal, I started laundry, cleaning, etc. and then I took a nap.  It was supposed to be a 40 minute nap.

I slept for over two hours and woke up SICK AS A DOG.

This morning sickness is kicking my ass.

I essentially spent the rest of the evening, despite completing some chores, on the couch.  I ate dinner lying down, I played the guitar lying down.  I hate lying down if I’m not sleeping, but sometimes I have to do it and I can’t beat myself over it.

After watching the train wreck that was the MTV Music Awards, I went to bed, when I became very, very sick and continued to be sick throughout the night.

It was a long night.  I blame my morning sickness, for sure, for being so sick, but I also blame Lady GaGa and her freakiness.

Here I am, Monday morning, another weekend gone, but this time, I’m looking back at it and not wishing that I had done something different.  I’m accepting what didn’t go as planned and I’m loving the way it turned out because I released control.

This morning I’m still sick, but that’s okay.  I’m growing this awesome baby inside of me, with tooth buds and nails just starting to form and the cutest little bootie ever, I just know it.

It’s a wonderful life.  I’m serious.  It is.
