Organize! Simplify! {a giveaway!}

By Beth

A few months ago I was contacted about having an organizing expert come to my house for a one hour consultation, the person would then talk to me about Kijiji, eBay’s free, family-friendly, local classifieds site.

I agreed to this for two reasons.  One, organization is really important to me, but I’m not really good at it, so any help would have been greatly appreciated.  The second reason is that I loved the idea that there was finally a safe website for listing items to sell locally.  Back in June I listed two couches on Craigslist, rather than being excited when people would respond to my ad, I found myself skeptical and actually scared by their responses.  I trusted NO ONE.  Especially to COME TO MY HOUSE.  Every response came across as shady.

Rather than responding to the interested parties, I hid in the corner with my hands over my ears screaming “what I have done, I listed my couches ONLINE!!  WE’LL NEVER BE SAFE AGAIN.

Needless to say, I did not sell the couches using Craigslist.  It was then that I read that people can actually sell sex on Craigslist and I thought “you know, maybe this place needs some work, some security and maybe I QUIT IT.“  (p.s.  if you’ve used it and it was a good experience, that is awesome, I’m just overly paranoid, I’m sure.) (Not that I have anything against selling sex on online except that REALLY I DO.)

So, when I found out about Kijiji, I was very excited and instantly felt better just by visiting the website.  And honestly, I wanted to tell all of you about it because obviously the more people who know about it…the better.

Posting on Kijiji is unbelievably simple and straightforward.  I did it!  It took just a few moments, LOVED IT.

GIVEAWAY!

To celebrate Kijiji and organization, I am giving away a $100 gift card to Organize.com which may be one of the greatest websites in the history of the world.  I’m not kidding.  If you go there be prepared to be inspired and also, be prepared to go broke because the laundry sorters, the closet storage, the kitchen organization, the office supplies…GAH!  It’s beautiful.  All of it.

And one of you lucky dogs will get ONE HUNDRED BIG ONES to spend in this glorious place.  *cough*totally jealous*cough*

There are many ways to win!

1.  Post about Kijiji and this giveaway on your blog and leave the link in the comments section.

2.  Tweet about Kijiji and this giveaway on Twitter and leave the link to your tweet in the comments section

Okay—LOVE this! I have a house-full of furniture to sell and I’m scared crapless to list it on Craigslist. UGH! (Though I did buy a fantastic Nikon D-50 from a struggling college student off of Craigslist… I met her at a Starbucks just down the street from a police station… just in case I needed reinforcements. Sad, but true.)

Definitely going to check out Kijiji! And mama definitely could use some organization in her life. My laundry room is a HOT mess.

Here in Nova Scotia kijiji is way, way more popular than Craigslist. I don’t think I know anyone who would even consider Craigslist. I’ve used kijiji numerous times (buying and selling) and haven’t had a bad experience yet. My brother has even gotten some carpentry work using it.

Anyway, since everyone I know already knows about it, and I’m in Canada and your contest probably doesn’t count for me, I’m not going to blog about it. But just wanted to tell you that I agree! It’s great!

    Hi Jaime,

We have automated spam/scam filters in place, but they unfortunately can’t catch everything. If you ever encounter a scam on Kijiji, please click on “Report This Ad” in the upper right corner of the ad, or contact our dedicated customer service team and they will be sure to remove it: http://info.kijiji.com/help/index.php?a=add

    Thanks!

Wow!! What a cool alternative! Over the past couple of weeks we have been trying to sell some stuff over Craigslist and we have been contacted by more spammers than I could imagine. It really is very SAD that people think they can be so dishonest…I’ve only sold 2 things to “real” people who wanted our stuff. I’ve had about 70 responses….not a good average if you ask me. I’ll be posting our stuff to Kijiji very soon (like right after I sign off here and go to Craigslist and copy and paste to Kijiji)! Thanks for sharing this alternative!
