Time of Year

Monday, November 23rd, 2009
By Beth

This week is absolutely, without a doubt, one of my favorite weeks of the year.  Even though my house gets messier, despite my constant cleaning and my legs hurt from the baking and the running, there is just something so magical about it.

I wanted to let you all know that tomorrow, individuals who have Etsy shops can come here and link to their shops on Mr. Linky making it easier for shoppers to find their stores.  It’s something new here called Handmade for the Holidays.

In addition to that, I’ve gathered up my friends and we have come up with some super fabulous items that we LOVE that we think you’ll love, too.  I’ll be featuring these through the middle of December.

For instance, just look at this clutch that Arianne LOVES:

forest clutch

It’s the cutest clutch EVER and it’s homemade.  See?  Things like that.

Shopping homemade is awesome.  I purchased many items from Etsy last year and received many, too and they were my favorite items to purchase (and receive!)

My goal is to make your holiday shopping not just easier but also more unique and also to help out that courageous person who believe in themselves enough to share their talents with the rest of us!

P.S.  Any help you can offer by spreading the word would be GREATLY appreciated!

PPS.  If you have a product you’d like to see featured, you can contact me with the link for consideration.  Just email me at handmadepieces (at) GMAIL dot com.

Our own

Saturday, November 21st, 2009
By Beth

I took my family on our own photo shoot.  I’ve been doing many shoots for families recently with the upcoming Holidays and felt very strongly that I should try to do the same for my little family.

It was fun.  It was hard.  It was frustrating.  It was worth it.  But honestly, there is not a single shot of our entire family that I love or even really like, which is understandable considering a remote was in charge of the shots, but I can’t complain.

Especially since Anna set up this first shot which makes me want to wallpaper it to my walls.

I can’t get over how handsome Brian is.

How funny, though, that this shot is my favorite of the whole bunch.

I love my family.

I love my life.

and I love that I’m not afraid to admit it.

You Capture – Sunrise/Sunset

Hi friends.

So…what’s new with you?  Nothing much here.  Look, I’m sorry I picked such a crappy subject this past week, who knew the sun would be SO ELUSIVE.  Even right now, the sky is dull and it’s raining and it’s looked this way now since well, Sunday, maybe?

DULLLLL.

But I’m annoyed because last week…the sun did come out!  But I did not take out my camera because I AM A PROCRASTINATOR.

But I was busy while the sun was out…I was making cinnamon rolls!

And eating them!

(no pictures of that because of the sticky.)

And I took pictures of my sister who is 36 weeks pregnant!

and her kids!

And I went shopping!

And Look!  It’s Stephanie and I!

(wondering if you guys are distracted, yet…)

What I’m trying to say is that this is the only picture I have of the sun and it’s shining on my morning coffee and well, it may not be exciting to you but coffee is awesome.

So, yeah.  WHATEVER.  Better luck next week.

Now it’s your turn to share!  But first…THE RULES.  *please read – REVISIONS HAVE BEEN MADE.*

1.  You can join in on this challenge at any time!  We welcome & love new participants.
2.  ONLY SIGN MR. LINKY IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE ACTUAL CHALLENGE.

3.  Please make sure you are linking directly to your specific You Capture post in Mr. Linky (and not just your site, for instructions, go here).
4.  Make sure you are linking back to this challenge in your post.  If you don’t abide by this, your link will be removed.  (I know, I’m so mean.)
5.  The goal of You Capture is to get you moving with your camera, get creative, don’t use photos from your archives, you’re missing the point, if you do.  Challenge yourself!
6.  Do your best to visit the other participants’ site – everyone loves the traffic, the comments and the feedback (not just you!)
7.  And finally, post as many pictures as you want on your post.

I can’t help but do this challenge again because it’s so heavily on my mind:

FOOD.

Happy Capturing! (and eating.)

Love & Light

Update: A caringbridge site has been created for updates on Anissa.  You can also donate directly to her family via paypal by clicking here.

Last night, my dear friend Anissa had a stroke.  We met through blogging, she lives in Georgia and through my darkest days after losing James and Jake…Anissa was with me, leaving me comments and sending me emails.  I often marveled at the fact that Anissa always said just the thing I needed to hear on that day.

And here I sit…speechless.

This isn’t her first struggle in her life, she’s so strong.  In 2005, she suffered her first stroke, she recovered and then her daughter, Petyon, was diagnosed with cancer.

Anissa is strength.

And Anissa is hilarious.  Truly one of the funniest people, one of the best writers in the blogosphere, probably one of the best huggers I have ever encountered and certainly one of the brightest lights in life for so many of us.

sweet Anissa

Anissa needs your prayers.  Please close your eyes and send a prayer to God for Anissa and her health, for the team of doctors working on her as she lies in the ICU, I need you to pray for strength for her husband and her three beautiful children.

If you’d like to contribute to her family in the form of gift cards for food, gas, etc. a P.O. Box has been set up, please, if you can…contribute.

She’s a Mom…just.like.YOU.

Well, well, well.

YOU people amaze me.  I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to be able to express something so personal to me and ask for help and so many of you share your personal experiences and thoughts with me.  AMAZING.

And yes, we have decided (for now) to continue with our original desire and NOT find out.  I’m excited about this.

Except I’m MORE than excited about it but words are failing me right now.

My sister, Sarah, who does not have a blog (which is totally annoying), well, this is her:

My sister, Sarah at 35 weeks.

She’s my best friend and my sister which makes me the LUCKIEST person alive.  I took this photo of her on Friday while she was visiting, her last visit before she delivers baby #3, she’s due on December 15th and she does not know the gender. (like me, she found out via ultrasound with her first two.)

It’s really exciting except her personality type, she realizes, is not the type to NOT find out, it’s kind of killing her because she wants to prepare but feels she can’t prepare the way she’d like.

She’s due in less than a month and I’ll be one of the lucky people in the room when this baby is born.

Shawhan 200911 WM 2308

I get to be one of the first people to know whether this baby is A BOY or A GIRL.  And when I witness that moment,  that amazing, miraculous and historic moment, I want to be able to decide for myself whether or not I want that moment, too.

Sister. Mom. Me.

(this is my sister, my Mom and I on Saturday having a fabulous time shopping and eating cupcakes.)

And I know, way deep inside that not only will my sister and I both be having our third babies within a few months of each other, but we’ll also both experience one of the biggest surprises life has to offer.

Just another wonderful, amazing thing we’ll have in common.
