You Capture – Winter

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010
By Beth

This is a painful topic for me considering I do not enjoy winter and also while pregnant walking around in 12 inches of snow is never, ever smart.  So, I got creative.

and took photos while driving, just this morning because the sun was out and it was above freezing for the first time since Christmas Day.  I can’t get over how the cold and I are just not friends.  (Mom, I wasn’t actually driving, I stopped the car and then took the photos, I promise.)

But, on the upside…I do enjoy photographing the snow, that beautiful, diabolical snow.

First, this photo was taken in Wisconsin where the sun was shining the entire time we were there.  Maybe I should be there?

snow from the inside

Of course, I was inside looking out.  because…BRRR.

Now onto today’s photos:

and finally, it wouldn’t be a post without me posting a photo of food, am I right or am I right?  So, my wintry comfort food is my world famous Chicken Noodle Soup.  Which isn’t really famous at all, but it is delicious and so easy to make.  I’ll be sharing the recipe with you very, very soon.

That’s it from me, friends!  Now it’s your turn to share!

PLEASE READ THE RULES RIGHT HERE.  I actually had to delete links last week because the links weren’t linked properly and that made me so sad because I love links.  So, read ‘em. K?

next-week

Love around your home.

I had this moment the other day, where I was walking around upstairs and looking at things and it took me a second to realize that I often think about how I love certain things.  For instance, my son’s blanket and this particular bird on my shelf and these plates that my sister-in-law bought for me.  There is so much that surrounds me that actually fills me with joy, so I want you to share it with all of us.  What you love, what fills you with joy but remember…GET CREATIVE with your photography.  Try new angles and different perspectives, edit the photos differently, make these everyday items into ART.

You can…I promise you can.

Happy Capturing!

What happens at Cupcake

I had never been to Wisconsin before.  I never thought that was a big deal until I told my friends “I had never been to Wisconsin before.”  Apparently Wisconsin is a big deal…I had no idea.

That’s where Cupcake 10 was held.  What’s Cupcake 10?  Cupcake 10 is the brain child of Heather of the EO (the one almost kissing mah belly up top there) and Stephanie.  They wanted a blog get together that wasn’t a blog conference, there was no talk of SEO and very little talk of advertising and HOW DO I SELL MY BLOG?  HOW DO I INCREASE READERSHIP?  It was more like “hey, tell me your story.”  or “I love your blog and I’m so happy to finally meet you.”  or “can I kiss your belly?” or “Who made the oreo truffles?”  (the answer to the oreo truffle question would be Kim.)

That sort of thing.

{this is Allison of O My Family with her son.  HIS EYES?  OHMYGOD.}

It was so laid back and beautiful and inexpensive.  We all brought food for a potluck, we woke up in the morning, in a beautiful cabin in the country, in our pajamas, we drank coffee, ate fruit and bagels and cookies (and okay, cupcakes) and we had no make-up on, no laptops to shield us from everyone around us.  It was just us.

And it was just so good.

Brianna

{this is Brianne.  Brianne = amazing.  No lie.}

I have a feeling there will be more Cupcakes to come, not just in our area but in all parts of the country and that is a very, very good thing.

Oh and why is Cupcake 10 called Cupcake 10?

Because I named it, that’s why.

By Beth

I want to write about Cupcake 10 and the fun that we had but I just can’t because my eyelids are so heavy.

So, I’m hoping that  sharing a photo of Anna playing with my iPhone counts as a way to check in with you because, friends, that’s all I got tonight.  More tomorrow.  Promise.

on my iPhone

I hope you all had a great weekend.

And also…WHY DOES SIMON THINK IT’S OKAY TO LEAVE IDOL?

Because it’s not okay.

Friday Morning Coffee

Friday, January 8th, 2010
By Beth

I love coffee and I’m beginning to love my Friday Morning Coffee posts, I feel like I’m sitting on a couch with friends, all easy, breezy, sipping on coffee and eating a cheese coffee cake.

I love cheese danishes and feel like it’s hard to get a good one these days.  I think I need to learn how to start making them but I’m so tired nowadays.

It’s true.  Tomorrow marks the first day of my THIRD TRIMESTER and since last Saturday I have been so dog gone tired that I can count on my hand the number of things I’ve completed this entire week.  Which is just sad.  I know this.

I’m not sure if my energy is gone BECAUSE of my third trimester or if it’s because I way overdid it these past two weeks but I’m seriously bummed.  I don’t like to slack, I don’t like it one bit.  Also, my belly feels like it’s going to become detached from my body, it’s just this weight that is getting difficult to carry around.  I’m not complaining.  Or am I?  I’m trying not to – I promise.

twenty seven and a half

School was cancelled today.  So, I’ve got my little babies (yes, they are almost six and seven) here at home with me.  They’re still in their pajamas, playing quiet, each equally bummed that they’re not at school.

The snow is falling like I haven’t seen in a long time.

snow so far

The wind is whipping, I can hear it against the windows.  I wish we didn’t have anywhere to go today but we do … Brian is sick and has a doctor’s appointment, I hate that he has to travel in this.

Tomorrow, my best friends and I are traveling to Wisconsin for Cupcake ’10.  It’s an overnight fun trip for all of us, we are staying at a cabin and eating ourselves into oblivion.  I’m excited to meet so many new people.  One person I’m totally excited to meet is Sara.  She lives in Michigan and she’s a dear sweet blogging/twitter friend who always knows what to say.  She lost her sweet baby Joel in 2009 and I can’t wait to squeeze her tight and look into her eyes.  She’s sleeping at my house tonight which makes me doubly, tripley excited.

And finally, today is Stephanie’s birthday.

Beth and Steph November 09

I hope she has a wonderful day all snuggled tight in her house with her family during this snow.  I know her heart is torn and her heart breaks for Arianne…

so wish Stephie a Happy Birthday, won’t you?

I hope you all have a safe, happy, healthy, cupcake filled weekend.  Take lots of pictures.  Just because.

You Capture – Year in review

Thursday, January 7th, 2010
By Beth

Hi friends.

Wow.  The holidays are over.  How did that happen?  We’ve jumped straight from the holidays into the depths of a cold, snowy winter which is not really all that fun, in case you’re wondering.

But luckily I can reflect on the warmer summer months and the mild spring days to remember that winter is temporary.  Remember, this week’s You Capture is 2009 in review, you can share ANY photos you’ve taken from this past year.  If you’ve never participated in You Capture before, I think this is a great time to start, don’t you think?

This first picture is hysterical because Noah was so excited about getting his DSi.  The only thing he asked for.  I have about 10 hilarious pictures of him from this moment.  I can’t wait to share them with his future wife.

just what he wanted

Other faves from the year:

Okay, fine.  I’LL STOP.

Now it’s your turn to share!

Please do not forget to read the rules, k?

next-week

Your Winter.

I like this idea because winter is different for so many people across the country, I think sharing what it’s like for each of us is a good idea!  (if I do say so myself!)

Happy Capturing and stay warm!
