Friday Morning Coffee
ByHi friends! I’m sitting on my couch, drinking coffee and I just finished a bowl of Cocoa Puffs. (have you tried Chocolate Cheerios? They are so good!) I have a call in a few minutes, then I’m heading out for my appointment with my chiropractor. Tonight, Erin, Lovelyn and I are going to dinner. I am so excited to have this girl time tonight. It has been way too long.
So, the Superbowl is this Sunday which just happens to fall on MY birthday which I find to be incredibly rude that the NFL did not check their calendars to make sure it coincided with my birthday, but they didn’t.
But I think I’m okay with that, I actually look forward to spending the evening at home, maybe eating SPICY chicken wings, LOTS OF THEM and just relaxing with Brian and the kids. I do live in Indiana, but I am a Bears fan (I live very close to Chicago) and I do like the Colts, however, the Colts just won the Superbowl (when they beat the Bears), so I think the Saints should get a turn to win this year. Don’t you think?
Also? I do not understand football AT ALL.
My pregnancy is going very well. I am growing a lot, I am really, really hot almost all of the time and I continue to have several Braxton Hicks a day. Also, I am already tired of people staring at me. I want to come out with a line of maternity shirts with various things printed on the belly, like:
“Really? You think I could be having triplets? SHUT IT.”
or
“No, YOU look like you’re going to give birth any day now.”
or
“Life will be so much better when you stop staring at me.”
or
“No, I’m not pregnant, I just ate the last person who stared at me for too long. YOU ARE NEXT.”
Not that I’m angry or anything.
Last week, Brian, the kids and I went to the mall and I felt like a circus act. Maybe I’m just self-conscious (as per Brian) or maybe people wonder how I walk without falling over, or maybe they’re just expecting a baby to fall out of my vagina right at that moment, whatever it is, it’s just not fun. So friends, if you can’t say anything nice to a pregnant lady (and you should) don’t say anything at all. m’kay?
End rant.
Tomorrow, after I receive a long, luxurious spa pedicure (courtesy of Crooked Eyebrow!), we are painting the baby’s room. I can’t even imagine what that is going to feel like. It’s been a week since we’ve officially named our boy and it’s been so fun. Although, Anna continues to forget his name and call him other random names but that’s okay, I’m glad we decided now and not when he’s born. The other night she referred to him as “Isaac or whatever.” (nowhere near his name.)
I’m not going to lie. WE LAUGHED SO HARD.
Which has been our theme this week, it seems, watching our kids soaking everything in, laughing whenever possible and just living and loving with their whole selves. It’s been beautiful. (I wrote more about that here.)
Gotta go – time for my call to begin!
Happy Friday and thank you for reading!

I can’t wait to see the nursery! enjoy your pedicure. You deserve it. Please design those shirts, one day when I’m prego I want to wear one and give people the evil eye.
I wish I was going to the chiro right now. My neck hurts so very much (to add to all my other woes), but I am looking forward to tonight so much that I might weep and hug your belly. And then ask if you’re having triplets.
Um, hi. I want one of those shirts. I don’t even care if it’s puffy painted. Just make it extra-extra-large. Because, really? How did this happen so fast?? I’m wearing yoga pants to WORK because I have one pair of jeans that fit and I’ve already worn them 4 days this week.
(Also, you’re adorable. Pregnant or not. People are jealous of you.)
I love the idea of those shirts – maybe you should open a new etsy shop selling them? Do people really tell you you look like you’re having triplets – that is so rude!
Enjoy your birthday, sometime just chilling out is a great way to celebrate especially when there’s lots of chicken wings!
I just decided to start the photo 365 challenge last night – may have been a crazy move but whatever!

Those shirts are great. I also think there should be one that says. Just because I’m pregnant doesn’t mean you can touch me. I mean, hello, personal space!
Have an Awesome Birthday even if it is on the Superbowl!
Oh, I remember those days when I looked like a house and I couldn’t STAND another comment from a perfect stranger! I would have LOVED to have had one of your proposed t-shirts!
Happy early birthday! I think the Superbowl is a lovely excuse to stuff your face with all sorts of goodies and lounge around with your beautiful family. Enjoy!
First time here and I nearly spit out water with your tshirt slogans. Thanks for the laugh!
I can’t believe how insensitive and rude people are. If that’s indeed the case, and people are staring at you and your belly, then you should by all means make a line of these tshirts immediately!
Enjoy your pedicure! You deserve it!
And Happy “Superbowl” Birthday!

bears fan here too
and I just CAN’T root for the Colts…bitter still from their win agains the bears.
so I’m pulling for the Saints to knock Manning on his tush.
HAppy Birthday! I hope it’s great! it’s always a good feeling when you can catch yourself enjoying the small stuff. my baby is almost 4 months old and i miss being pregnant! weird, considering i was on bedrest all summer.but, i do. sometimes, i have to remind myself to slow down and love where i am, right at that exact moment.
Should should really consider selling shirts like those.
Think of it as a…
“College fund – For Isaac or whatever.”
HA! I loved your rant. You should definitely start that t-shirt line. I would have worn one EVERY DAY I was pregnant. And Happy (early) Birthday! I hope you have a fantastic weekend!
I love the t-shirt ideas… you should go with it. I am sure lots of ladies would LOVE to own one!
Chocolate Cherrios are the best! I buy a box a week. Can’t wait to hear the name for the baby. I’m not into football either…Happy early Birthday!
LOVE IT!! Enjoy your girls nite out, yay!!!
Your logic about the Saints winning the super bowl, “girl logic” at it’s finest, love it!!
Your t-shirt ideas are fantastic!!
Oh and Happy Birthday!
Okay first..i am going to have to try chocolate cheerios…i have been hearing so much about them
Enjoy your night out…you deserve it Beth!!!
And have a great birthday weekend!
Um, go Colts. That’s all. I can’t believe you live in Indiana and would root against the Colts! For shame! (And I know Lovelyn has my back on this.)
I love the line about eating the last person who looked at you too long- hilarious!!!!
Hope you girls have a great time…and also Happy Early Birthday!
Your pregnancy shirt ideas made me laugh….HARD.
I would seriously wear one of those.
you should start a line of shirts! I am 35 weeks and want to attack my mom every time she stops for a visit all she can mutter is, Wow, your getting big, I did not get that big…Thanks MOM!
I do find people are kind to me in public, holding doors, handing me shopping carts, offering to load groceries into the car, at 1st I was annoyed, now I’m quite thankful!
BTW, you are not that huge, it is all in your head
Happy birthday! I don’t understand football, either, and I don’t really care to anymore.
Have a fun weekend!
Okay, so I love you list of shirt slogans. I think you should start your own line! Hope your birthday weekend is spectacular even if it is interrupted by a little football game.
My birthday falls on the 1st of February – so I sometimes get the gift of the Superbowl, too!
You know, I think there actually ARE some shirts along those lines. I remember looking at them when I was pg with DD. Try cafepress. I know there is one that says, “YES, I AM pregnant. It’s a girl. I’m due in June” (or whatever your stats are)
Enjoy your girls’ night. They are always so refreshing.
I’m sure all of those women staring at you were staring at you because, like me, they are SO ENVIOUS!!
Read what you wrote on the other blog that you linked to. LOVED IT! Thank you!
Glad that I am not the only one who doesn’t get football. My husband has tried to explain it to me numerous times and I’m lost. We are having a superbowl party and my husband suggest we make sugar cookies. I have a great recipe and thought it was a good idea, but I had to ask him ‘what teams are playing?’ so I could decorate the cookies properly.
Glad also that you are feeling good with this pregnancy. Enjoy the remaining weeks, not long to go! And have a marvelous birthday on Sunday. And boo on the NFL for not contacting you first to see if the date conflicted! LOL
I’d like to order a shirt please: “No, you may NOT touch my belly. Do you want me touching yours??” And enjoy your spicy birthday/Super Bowl wings. (Keep the Tums handy!)
I am a pretty regular reader and I am so happy for ur pregnancy and for all the fun to come. Just wanted to tell you that whenever my husband and I see pregnant women we always stare! They are so cute and we are always jelous because we know how special that time is.So think of that and imagine people wishing they had a baby belly in their life! Enjoy can’t wait to be pregnant with number 2!
Dude. You would make a killing with those shirts!
I totally understand how you feel about people making comments to you! And strangers touching bellies … oh, don’t people just want you to hit them over the head? I think you should come up with designs for the shirt and sell them on Etsy or CafePress.
I meant to mention that you should also check out georgietees.com. I love the maternity shirt that says, “Does this make me look fat?”
Happy Birthday!
Love the t-shirts. I just wanted one that said:
I feel fine.
I’m due in September.
No, its not twins.
No, we didn’t find out.
Do you normally ask people you don’t know all these questions?
Happy Birthday!
I don’t usually go around commenting just to drive traffic to my blog. But since you mentioned loving cocoa puffs, I thought you might like these:
http://house-of-boys.livejournal.com/83423.html
Peanut butter cocoa rice krispies made to look like footballs!
Perfect for you and any superbowl party!
You are too funny! It would be awesome if you made T-shirts like that!
“No, I’m not pregnant, I just ate the last person who stared at me for too long. YOU ARE NEXT.”
That one just cracks me up too much!
Okay so I really really love these Friday posts. Sounds just like you are chatting right to me and we are catching up!
Enjoy the girl’s night and spa, keep soaking in those adorable kids, kick anyone who says anything offensive to you about the pregnancy (seriously what is WRONG with people??). Have a most lovely weekend!
I know that when I felt ’stared at’ when I was pregnant, I would just stare back.
That usually eliminated the problem.
Enjoy your pedi and your Super Bowl wings.
I love the Colts. I can basically spit on the their stadium from my bedroom window.
But Happy Birthday to you!
You MUST make those shirts! I would buy them. =)
Well, they didn’t ask me if they could have the Super Bowl on my birthday either! Hope your day is as good as I hope mine is! Happy Birthday, birthday friend!
Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoyed your pedicure!
Your posts always crack me up. You’re awesome. I love your tee shirt ideas; I remember feeling that way during both of my pregnancies.
Anyway, have a happy birthday and if you get a chance, stop on over at my blog. I gave you an award for being an inspiration and making me smile! Thank you,
Okay. If you DID make those pregnancy t-shirts, I would totally buy that last one!!
Too hysterical!
I feel your pain. I am only 5.5 months pregnant with my second child, and I feel like my own planet, already! What am I going to do when our girl actually starts growing?! And kudos for the name choosing! My husband and I are having the hardest time….
this is so funny!! i am 33 weeks and hate all of the crazy stares i get when i go out – i guess only being able to do up one button on my jacket doesnt help.
i would buy ALL of your shirts, such a good idea!!
I think that a morning coffee (a staple in my routine) and cocoa puffs is one of the best ways to start out a morning. Those t-shirt ideas are AWESOME. If you start a line I’ll totally buy some for the next time I’m pregnant. I’m tiny to begin with so for the last 6 weeks of my pregnancy all I heard was “Any day now?” Grrr. But it’s all good.
LOL!!! Such a cute post!!!
Happy Birthday!!!
With my first I SO wanted a t-shirt that said:
“Yes, we ARE naming her Chastity Peaches
Yes, I am SURE there is only one in there, and
No, I HAVEN’T (obviously) had this baby yet.”
It got to where I actually didn’t go to church the last few weeks because
1. I had no clothes that fit, and
2. I got asked those question over and over again.
To be fair though, the first question was really only asked by a “slow” man who goes to our church. Only he would ask it every time I passed him in the hall….every time.
The other two questions I got constantly.
Aaahhh, the joys of pregnancy!
Happy Birthday!!!
Happy Birthday!!!!
