Good grief

Friday, February 19th, 2010
By Beth

33 weeks

The title of this post is so fitting for my life right now.  I did not intend to be all double meaning, it just happened.  I opened up the photo in photoshop and thought “GOOD GRIEF, I am large.”  And then I saw things on my dresser, sacred, beautiful James and Jake things that I won’t even tell you about (that’s how sacred) that are right there.  On my dresser.  GRIEF.

And right above, my belly, growing this delicious baby inside of me who I know is speaking to his big brothers up there (as Anna and Noah refer to heaven now).  GOOD.

February 26th, the day I delivered James and Jake, the day that marks the moment I held them in my arms when I should have been holding them in my belly…the day and the days and months after..they hold GRIEF.

But that day, February 26th, marks the day we were able to hold those precious angels in our arms, we remarked on their sameness, their uniqueness, how much they looked like Noah.  We held the babies that changed our lives, our love, our outlook, OUR EVERYTHING.  GOOD.

We’ve traveled this road of GRIEF for nearly two years now – it’s been a road with dips and curves and SPEED BUMPS that felt like they would kill us.   It’s been a road of greener trees and flowers with overwhelming fragrance,  the kind of fragrance that stops you in your tracks, just to take in the sweetness that you never took the time to notice before.  But now you stop and you wipe the tears that flow endlessly down your face, you sniff and you smile and feel the sun on your hair.  This road, abundant in birds and butterflies, sunshine and the sweet laughter of a child, this road that I would not have chosen, not in a million years, yet this road is the most beautiful road I have ever seen in my life.

GOOD GRIEF.

Yes, in the same sentence, yes, together.

You Capture – Kisses

Wednesday, February 17th, 2010
By Beth

I loved this week’s theme.   I had so much planned but then I guess, maybe, I forgot?  I have no idea.  No excuses.

Luckily, I did catch my sister loving on her baby, Trey.  It wasn’t until after I had taken it and downloaded these photos that I thought “YES!  KISSES!  YOU CAPTURE!”

See what I good planner I am?

Mama kisses

Oh they are so sweet.

And here is my sweet kissing my other sweet.  Hilariously, Anna loves to kiss my belly, sometimes too much.  So, tonight when I told her that I needed her to kiss my belly, we were in my room where the lighting was cool and dark and well, not easy to shoot and so I had her kissing my belly for so long that she was like “please have Noah kiss your belly!  My lips hurt.”  Oh, I laughed and then I was like “KISS IT.”

And not one of the shots turned out.  (seriously.)

Then she followed me into the bathroom and I asked her to try one more, where the lighting was good (well, not good, just better) and she did and then she looked in the mirror and I am ga ga over this photo.  Dang her and her CUTE FACE.

sweet baby kisses

And yes, I realize I resemble Humpty Dumpty.  You try to find pants that fit when your belly looks like that, man.

Anyway, now it’s your turn to share your KISSES!  And also?

HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY TO YOU CAPTURE! I can’t believe it’s been a full year already, even more, I can’t believe I haven’t skipped a single week!  (I may have commitment issues but we’ll talk about that later, m’kay?)

A GIVEAWAY!

As a thank you, for everyone who participates this week (with a photo taken in the past week) and enters their link into Mr. Linky, you will be entered to win Picnik Premium for one whole year.  Picnik Premium is awesome, awesome photo editing software online.  It really is incredibly useful and totally easy to use.  And no, this is not an ad, I am paying for this with my very own money – that’s how much I enjoy Picnik and it’s also how much I love you.  (I do!)

So, it’s your turn to share but PLEASE read the guidelines because if I have to delete your link that would be sad and also that means you won’t be qualified to win.  :(

(you can enter your link anytime but if you’re looking to be entered to win, you must have your link in by Friday, 2/19/10 at 10:00 am CST.  k?  The winner will be announced at next week’s You Capture.)

next-week

I have just a few minutes and I wanted to share them with you!

We have returned from our weekend getaway to my sister’s house in Kentucky.  It was a wonderful, restful and FUN trip.  What was NOT fun was that Kentucky actually received a ton of snow while we were there which is totally unfair because I was sort of running away from the snow by going there.

The drive home was pretty treacherous, our typical four hour drive took six and a half, but we are safe at home and last night I slept like a dream.  The best night’s sleep I have had in weeks.  I am so thankful.  (I am also hoping tonight is just as, or nearly as, good!)

While in Kentucky I felt like we prepared for the baby’s arrival some.  We have newborns clothes and a wonderfully fitting nursing bra.  We may have a baby’s room with beautifully painted walls and nothing else in it but we have clothes!  And a nursing bra!  I think that’s all we need, right?

My sister spoiled me endlessly and wouldn’t let me do anything.  The most I did was order pizza on Sunday night and that was the extent of any work  I did.  She, on the other hand, in between nursing Trey every three hours, was super woman.

She even made these on Valentine’s Day.  (which were to die for.)

The kids helped to decorate them and we learned that Anna is a freakishly good piper.

Valentine's Day girl

And an even better cookie eater. (just like her Mom.)

Anyway, we are back home, safe and sound and missing my sister and her family terribly.

In other news:

I’ve written a post over here, I really like it for some reason.  (I don’t often say that about things I’ve written)  So, feel free to read and also, don’t be shy, feel free to comment, k?

Recently, Ruby and Roja decided to close it’s design doors for a million, trillion different reasons.  Because I love designing and I also love to bring in some sort of income, I have started 2 Bird Designs.

I’m excited about this!

And finally, You Capture turns one this week! (how can that be possible?!) So, I’m having a giveaway, everyone who participates will be entered to win Picnik Premium for one year – on me! My way of saying THANK YOU! Just link up on Thursday’s Mr. Linky to be entered.  (this week’s challenge:  KISSES!)

Now it’s time for bed.  Sleep tight, friends.

Sweetness

One of the perks of visiting my sister isn’t just the donuts, the chocolate, the biscuits and gravy. Oh no, it’s visiting with Trey, who is already 7 weeks old. He and I are very, very good friends.

And then, we went to Target.  And while his Mom tried on jeans, he and I walked around and took photos.
