This & that.

By Beth

First, Elijah is one month old today,  how is that even possible?  I was planning to sit down and write about the first month and maybe even his birth a little bit but uh…I was unable to sit down today, that is without a baby attached to me.

So, there you go.

Speaking of cute, little, tiny, sweet, good smelling Elijah, tomorrow (Friday, April 30th)  is the last day to sign up to get one of his birth announcements.  I am beyond excited that Tiny Prints has offered to send anyone (even YOU!) a birth announcement.  The thought of my readers receiving one is extremely special to me.  To sign up, just click here.

And lastly, I posted over here.

You Capture – Spring

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010
By Beth

Hi friends!  I am going to keep this short and sweet since I’m not feeling too well tonight.

It hasn’t felt too much like spring around these parts, I still envy anyone who lives in those warmer southern states.  We woke up to frost today.  FROST.

Fortunately, there is still a lot of spring loveliness despite that frost.

Spring

These are blooms from our James and Jake tree (one of our James and Jake trees died.  I am SO SAD.)  Aren’t the blooms beautiful?

Spring 2010

That’s it for me.  Now it’s your turn to share.

Please read the guidelines, the most important one being that you link to your YOU CAPTURE post and not your main blog URL.  (incorrect links will be deleted, sorry!)

But first:

Spring!  Do not adjust your monitors, I seriously said spring again.  I’m giving you a challenge within a challenge.  Find spring but find it differently this week, seek out different subjects, different colors, fresh angles, new perspectives!   Open your eyes and capture something NEW that means SPRING to you.

Happy Capturing!

Ouch.

By Beth

I’m around but right now I may be battling a case of mastitis what with the fever, body aches, fatigue and a boob that is apparently ON FIRE.  So, you know, I’m busy with a crying, non sleeping child and I’m HOT but I’m cold and when is my doctor’s appointment again?

So, I thought you may want to look at a photo I took of  Crooked Eyebrow’s daughter while I go and shoot myself in the face.

(UPDATED:  IT’S MASTITIS.  Antibiotics have begun…)

Something new.

By Beth

This morning, he didn’t cry.

Eli 8931

We played.

Elijah 8917

We sneezed.

sneezy

We pooped twice.  Well, not “we,” just “he.”

Eli 8925

We watched the ceiling fan.  (it’s Eli’s favorite show.)

And we wondered why Mom always held a camera up to her face.

And while he was so busy being big and watching me be silly using my high-pitched voice and saying “Mommy Loves You,” over and over and over again,

I couldn’t believe two things.

One, that this is the same baby as last Monday.

and two, that I could ever, ever be so lucky to be his Mama.

We walked.

Sunday, April 25th, 2010
By Beth

Okay, so maybe I didn’t walk but my friends and family did. They walked for James and Jake and it moved me to no end.

And it will continue to move me for days, weeks, years to come.

Somehow, there was no rain.   The day just felt like a celebration.  A celebration of life and of lives changed by these sweet babies.

I hope they can feel the love. THE LOVE FOR THEM IS SO BIG.

Before we left for the walk yesterday morning, I was nursing Elijah and Anna and Noah were ready for the walk with their shirts on and their teeth brushed, their tennis shoes laced up and Anna said “today feels like Christmas, I’m excited like Christmas.”

And in that moment I thought “we have done something right, so right.”

Later in the day, Noah said to his Aunt Amy, “I wish I could have seen James and Jake born.”

And still I know that we have done something so right.  I want Anna and Noah to wish that, I want them to remember them and know that they have the sweetest little guardian angels.  I believe they know this.  I hope they know this.

And I believe that we are so lucky to be surrounded by so many people who love and care about LIFE.  So many people who understand the fragility of it all.  It could all be gone tomorrow … what did you do with it today?

Team James and Jake 2010

Not just the people who were physically with us on Saturday morning but also YOU.  YOU who dug into your pockets and helped Team James and Jake meet and exceed it’s goal for 2010.  All of you who have supported us and the March of Dimes… THANK YOU.

You helped to make this day glorious.
