We are out of the hospital and at home RIGHT NOW. It’s a wonderful place to be.
I promise, actual words about this week are coming soon, but first I need to spread 14,000 tons of lanolin across my nipples. you understand, right?
So understand the nipple issue…best advice: get a good latch EVERY SINGLE TIME. And I know this can be such a pain to do when you’re working on zero sleep but it is imperative. Even if it means taking him off to relatch and even again if needed…so so important. And tea bags were a wonderful soother. Something in the tea made the sting feel better. That’s my best advice from a mom of four who nursed all four babies So glad you’re home lovin’ on all your babies!
Beth, I completely understand the boob/nipple pain and frustration…ugh! Had it SO bad with Alex and, more recently, Paige. Lindsay sat across from me on my bed with my huge chest out and watched me cry…and actually cried with me…while I tried to nurse Paige. I almost quit several times in the beginning…well, especially those first few days after she was born. It hurt like a mother ___. But, I stuck it out, amazingly…and now it’s almost been 6 months. I can’t believe it myself!!! Piece of cake now, of course. All of this to say that I know you can stick it out and get to that point if that’s what you really want, but also…it is OKAY if the nursing route doesn’t work out for whatever reason…remember that!!! I second the Soothies, nipple shield, Lanolin…I tried it all and then some. I nursed her on all fours once…my mom witnessed that. It was insane. Those nasty frozen cabbage leaves. You name it, I tried it.
He is SO beautiful, Beth. I know you’re enjoying him immensely.
Ditto what Erika said!
And…CONGRATULATIONS. I haven’t read your blog in ages, due to life and crap, but was pointed this direction by a friend. I am VERY happy for you.
Congrats! He is beautiful!
Oh the blue and brown cuteness…so sweet.
this isn’t to make you feel awful. but my nipples still hurt and i can’t find my lanolin cream and i’m too cheap to buy a new one because holy buckets … one tube should last you FOREVER.
on a better note … how was the ice? did you eat some for me?
I love him. Congratulations so so big. Like sky-writer big.
He is so so amazing to look at. What a treasure- enjoy every second (I know you are)!
Oh what a little sweetie. I love how they always want to curl up. They are so snuggly!!
Good luck with the boobie problem! I totally remember that, but both my boys are 7 and 9, so it’s been awhile…
Ouch. I remember.
Soooooo precious. I can barely remember bringing my tiny girls home.
I hope your boobies feel better soon! Hang in there, you are doing something truly special!
So so so precious! Home sweet home!
Just an absolute doll…
He is absolutely beautiful- enjoy every precious minute. Your family has been through so much awaiting his arrival, I am certain some day he will know just how much you all absolutely adore him.
Adorable! And be careful some people have an allergic reaction to lanolin, and that ain’t fun.
Your children are beautifuk and your pictures are incredible. I will come back, your blog is lovely.
He is amazing, CONGRATULATIONS!
“They” say that it gets easier with each kid. “They” obviously do not have more than one kid. That or “they” are men.
