Raisin bran, guys. That’s what I’m eating, one cup of raisin bran with a half cup of skim milk.
Remember when I was pregnant, I would eat Cocoa Puffs or Chocolate Cheerios or Cocoa Puffs and Chocolate Cheerios harmoniously together in the same bowl? So yummy. But honestly, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter to me that I didn’t get to eat Cocoa Puffs or Pop Tarts. In fact, it feels pretty good knowing I didn’t have those things.
So, I started Weight Watchers on Wednesday. It’s going very well. It helps that I get a lot of extra points for nursing, fortunately, I haven’t had to change my habits too much. I have been on Weight Watchers before (Lifetime member!) and had great success, I created habits that have lasted. I really love Weight Watchers, I’m good at it, I think. But you have to be in the right mind frame to be successful. Am I right or am I right?
I’m pretty surprised that today is Friday. These weeks are flying by. I can’t believe that Elijah was born nearly 8 weeks ago! He is still a little fussbudget but he sleeps well at night, so I have that to be thankful for, right? He typically goes down for the night around nine and sleeps until 3. Last night he ate at 8:30, fell asleep and didn’t wake up until 3:45! Luckily, I went to sleep at 10:30 (after pumping). He’s been pretty consistent with this schedule, his biggest inconsistency is what he does after nursing at three in the morning. Sometimes he goes right back to sleep and sometimes he just wants to party with Mom and Dad.
Luckily, he’s cute. So, the parties involve lots of smiles. (from all of us.)
Unfortunately, last night’s sleeping stretch followed a day of no sleeping and lots of crying. I just keep thinking about how temporary this time is. I mean, it seems like yesterday that I was holding Anna all night long, she was about six weeks old and I kept thinking “okay, so this fussiness should end at 12 weeks, hurry, time! HURRY!” And now, Anna and Noah come home from school, do their homework and go out and play with friends and we don’t see them for hours.
I miss them.
I hope you guys have a great weekend. In Northwest Indiana, our weather is supposed to be in the upper eighties! I am hoping to get some gardening done. I also have a photo shoot tomorrow morning. I’m nervous, friends. It’s been a long time.
I’m off to put some makeup on and start my day of starting projects and never finishing them, thanks to a very sweet little baby boy. He’s the best excuse to not finish a project I have ever had.
Happy weekend! I leave you with a rare siting: a smiling Cubs fan.

OH he is so precious! I keep trying to remind myself of the same things you are – we have officially entered the “terrible twos” in my house and since I hear that the three’s are not much better…. oh man. But pretty soon she’ll be off playing and not want a thing to do with me so I am trying to remember that!
I got Eli’s birth announcement yesterday – SO beautiful! That was such a cool thing for Tiny Prints to do!
Love him. And you. I didn’t know you had a photoshoot tomorrow! I’m so excited for you and can’t wait to see the results. I might need you to take photos of me in the $70 dress I bought and have nowhere to wear just so I can justify buying it.
Good Luck with Weight Watchers! I did Weight Watchers for over a year and lost 100 poudns. I just had to quit last week because I am 6 weeks pregnant. Don’t tell anyone…we still haven’t told the family. (Plan to in the next week though.) I am certain the weight loss helped me conceive. This will be #2 for us as we have a 4 year old. I plan to return to WW after the baby and finish my journey and become a lifetime member myself.
I started Weight Watchers last week myself. I weighed in yesterday afternoon and was tickled pink to have lost 10.6 lbs the first week. I’m anxious to follow your progress! Good Luck!
Oh, he’s getting SO big! I can’t wait until he’s ready to play. We can let Gray take care of him while we sit and do nothing.
Steph
hey girl, haven’t commented in forevahhhh.
lsiten, do you have a sling?
I had one fussy baby outta four and on the advice of an old grandma at church I got a sling.
I popped him in the sling and wore his little cranky butt all day.
It took a couple of days but I noticed, sure enough, the crankiness went away.
She told me that she learned this with one colicky baby. Mine wasn’t colicky, but it worked just the same. He just needed momma’s rythm.
I recommend the moby wrap.
He’s six foot tall now. *sigh*
hey girl. I haven’t commented in forever….
listen. do you have a baby sling?
One old grandma at church recommended this to me when my little buddy was a cranky fuss. three calm children and then this one….dear lord.
Anyway she said she learned to wear a baby with one that was colicky. Mine wasn’t colicky but sure enough a couple of days in the sling and I noticed a difference.
I just put him in the sling and wore his cranky butt and sure enough there was a change. he just needed momma’s rythym.
he’s six foot tall now. *sigh*
I recommend the moby wrap.
Have a great weekend! Eli’s announcement is so sweet! Thank you for sharing him with us!
Got my announcement today…..LOVE it. Thanks fo thinking of us.
Got my announcement today too…it is so precious. Love, love, love the pic of all 3 kids!!! Have a great weekend, looking very forward to the shift in weather! It’s about time!!! :>)
LOVE the announcement!!! Tiny Prints is smart too… I LOVE their cards and will definitely HAVE to use them now! I know I’ve heard many people rave about them, but having that beautiful card in my hands was a completely different experience! Congrats again! You have one heck of a beautiful family!
Cutest Cubs fan. EVER.
That’s awesome to be back on WW…you will be back to lifetime status soon friend. Congrats on getting back in the groove. I’ve recently given up my pop-tarts for crispix in the morning, so I’m with ya!
Great picture!!
Yeah no kidding, I think Eli is only smiling because he’s too young to understand how lousy the bullpen really is. Enjoy your weekend!
This very morning, I went to Audrey and Matt’s house at 5:00 am… Audrey was in NYC and RETURNING on the early train and Matt was LEAVING for NYC on the early morning train. My job was to watch the 4 boys until Audrey returned. My plan was pretty good… show up with my pillow and my own blanket and sleep in Audrey and Matt’s bed until the boys began to wake up. That happened at 5:28 am. As I tried to coax William (5) and Ben (3) back to sleep, my mind went all the way back to Audrey’s infancy. Her birthday is this coming Sunday, and I remembered the early mornings in May and June and July… and the late evenings, too. She was almost 6 weeks premature, so she ate often and we would come to know, A LOT. As I laid there hugging 2 of HER children, I wondered where all those years went. How did THIS happen. How did these little faces whose faces are Audrey’s face get here and where did MY baby go? I remembered tip-toeing into her room and listening to her breathe and coo… then cry when she heard me, which she always did. You’re so right… the time goes so fast, so fast, so fast. The miracles are the NOWS, and each and every second is an eternity all by itself. Have a wonderful weekend with your beautiful family!!!!
Hard to believe, but it really does fly by. And that little face??? priceless.
Cuteness all around! He’s an adorable little Cub, that’s for sure!
I keep thinking I need to join Weight Watchers but haven’t made the leap yet. I am glad it’s been easy for you to jump back in and that all is going well! Keep us posted on how it’s going…maybe it’ll encourage me enough to actually join WW, too!
He is so sweet and tiny and he looks like he smells so good. Clark’s favorite cereal is Raisin Bran. He once had a truly epic meltdown because he couldn’t find it in the pantry and thought it was gone. (It wasn’t.) Is age three temporary too?
Sweet baby. Okay, I have to say it. They grow so fast. Nate turns one next month. Raisin bran is my favorite cereal. Only Kellogs though, I’m a brand snob.
Oh! I had those same feelings. Time is so very temporary. I enjoy your blog! Thanks for sharing your life!:)
I appreciate your outlook. The days of a fussy newborn are hard. Yet they are so sweet. Your post captures both so well. I hope Eli starts regulating his schedule for you soon. And in the meantime, don’t let those unfinished projects get to you. He’s the most important project of all!
i received his birth announcement in the mail yesterday! beautiful! and so much fun to receive.
i am so enjoying your blog
Great rare siting!
And enjoy that raisin bran…
I love weight watchers! I started last January when William was 8 months old (somehow I managed to gain weight after he was born…yikes!). I’ve lost 30 pounds so far.
I am rooting for you! It is so great that you are a Lifetime Member!
Terri
OH, Beth…you speak such true words! i am 33 weeks today…and before long i too will be eating raisin brain w/ skim milk instead of peanut butter captain crunch. with my daily dose of caffeine free pepsi. and more sugar in between. i too have done ww before. and i will go back to ww when this child is out.
it DOES take the right frame of mind to be successful…and so i say “rock on sister! you can do it!”
your post was a bit of a reality check for me. my 3 am potty breaks are about to become 3 am feedings once again. but you’re right, that too will pass. i just have to remind myself to find the joy in the moment. even in the wee hours.
Our middle son was brutal during the days from week 4 thru month 5. He’s now a beautiful, easy child and I thank God everyday for those hard days. We live thru the rain so we can smile in the sun! Hang in there!
Good luck with your new eating plan. I am 7.5 months pregnant and have recently hit the stage where I wanted nothing but bad food. Today I looked in my grocery cart, became sad when I saw the bad food, then walked around and put it back:P It will be a little while, though, before I’m back on the wagon completely.
The newborn stage is so short, try to soak up every minute of it.
I’m excited for you about joining Weight Watchers. You’re so good at it and now we can share successes and recipes and stuff. It’s great that Eli sleeps at night because he does keep you busy during the day AND his Cub fan photo was awesome as was the birth announcement.
This is that grace period before he becomes mobile and starts stealing toys and pulling hair. He may not be so popular after that!
