Friday Morning Coffee

May 28th, 2010

I’ve got my coffee, my raisin bran and a very sleepy baby next to me (who is not sleeping.)  What I don’t have?  Time.  (and a sleeping baby.)

I can not believe it’s Friday, moreso, I can’t believe it’s Memorial Day weekend.  This week has just flown by and here I sit again, on Friday, telling you about how I can’t believe it’s Friday again.

This week hasn’t just flown by, it’s been incredibly chaotic.  Remember that photo shoot I was nervous about last week?  Well, it was on Saturday and it went really well.  So well that I’m inspired to repolish my photography website and really (sortakinda) start promoting my business.  This week was spent investigating, learning and inquiring about all things that have to do with having a photography business.

Most importantly, I’m working on IMPROVING.

This wrapped around the time that I’m nursing, changing diapers, doing laundry, giving snacks to my kids and all of the neighborhood kids and making healthy dinners.  My stomach has been in a knot all week long trying to get everything done.  Don’t you hate that feeling?  I can’t stand it.

So, today, my mother-in-law is taking Eli for four hours while I, well, I don’t know, I plan to shop, clean, continue editing photos and get proofs to my client and maybe even shower.

Showering would be good.  (for everyone.  Trust me.)

This weekend, my sister and niece and their families are coming into town and I’m hoping to let go of everything that doesn’t have to do with FAMILY.  That will be my focus.  And I’m excited.

And in two or three weeks, when Brian is on vacation?  We are unplugging EVERYTHING.  Even our cell phones for three days.  (did anyone see that Oprah?  I didn’t actually see it, I just heard it in the background for 10 minutes and became totally inspired.)

This weekend, I’ll also be holding the troops near and dear to my heart.  I’m thinking about my incredible brother, Dan, who is serving his FOURTH damn tour in Iraq right now.  I’m thinking about his wife and three kids as they muster through this holiday weekend without the presence of their Dad and husband by their side.

And the rest of the troops, everywhere?  I’ll be thanking them and hanging my flag to show my support for all of those that are sacrificing so much.  I hope you hang yours, too.

And Eli?  Well, he loves the troops, too.  And his Mommy.

shhhhh….he’s finally sleeping.

Eli loves his mommy

We have a family-filled weekend, too. I am looking forward to it SO Much. Also, when you unplug I am probably going to have to send you letters and stop by your house with treats. Not sure I can go that long without an email, tweet, or text from you.

I love reading your post, and think you are an amazing person…Of course, I love your photography..I still want to get so more pictures from last year, but I will wait to cute little Eli is doing better at sleeping you have so more time.

My sister is in town this weekend too, and so happy to be spending time with my family…Put everything down, and please enjoy your family, everything else will get taken care of when it has to be done…

If you have any healthy receipes send them my way..Trying to focus on healthy cooking as well.

I think of Dan and the troops often..I check on Teresa and the kids..She seems to be doing okay, but she worries me…She needs to let it out, and not act like everything is okay, because I know I was be a mess most of the time.

    Thanks to all our troops.

Have a great weekend my friend,
    Hugs,
    Shan

I can’t believe how big he is. I don’t come by as often as I’d like, so whenever I do it’s a shock with how big he is!
