Why, hello!
I have to tell you, when I pick a challenge each week, I have no idea what I’ll find to photograph, just like you. Which causes a problem when I put off taking pictures each week and leaves me with what’s left in my house.
See?

There’s my yellow. Pretty mellow, I admit.
Now it’s your turn to share but first … read the guidelines. PLEASE? With sugar on top? Thanks, you’re the best.

Let’s get technical, shall we? Next week’s challenge will be DEPTH OF FIELD (DOF). Here’s an example of depth of field:
or
See that? Focus subject, blurry background. It can also be vise versa, focused background, blurry foreground. Fun, right?
For those of you working in your manual settings, remember that the lower your aperture setting, the more depth of field you’ll have in your photo. A great explanation of DOF can be found here.
Happy Capturing, friends!

This is my first week taking part. Love the idea!
Wow, next weeks challenge sounds great!
I love your lemons! I am really looking forward to next weeks challenge, I love playing with DOF.
Yay for DOF! This one’s gonna be fun! L O V E your fruit shots- the natural light is great!
Oh lemons are so pretty, every kitchen should have one!
So excited about next weeks challenge…my favorite!
Yikes…can I do next week with a point and shoot…oh the challenge
The lemon is lovely! I mean… as lovely as a lemon can be
I can’t wait for next weeks challenge. FUN! This week was a little tough I have to admit. And I was a tad bit lazy with the bus shot, but it ended up being cool… just cause I didn’t want to get out of my car on a rainy afternoon.
I can’t lie; next week’s challenge scares the heck out of me. I just got my big-girl camera and this will be a true challenge for me. Thanks for pushing us, Beth!

ZOIKS! Depth of field!? Look at you ratcheting things up several notches – how exciting! And a lil bit skeery! Off to find the AAAA PURRRRR CHURRRRR doohickey on my camera. If you hear someone calling you bad words (but in a very loving way) over the next week, that’ll be me.
I’m just like you: I wait until the last minute and then I’m all “holy shit I’ve got to take pictures!”… but the problem is today, I’m not inspired by yellow. There’s little that’s yellow in my house or life. I don’t know why. Now, if you picked brown or blue or beige… well, I got THAT covered! I’m really looking forward to next week. =)
I’ve been waiting all morning for you to post!
My fiance’ was cracking up at me last night–I had my pineapple on the stove playing with my macro lens. It was good for my sanity in all of our crazy wedding prep stuff!!!!
Granted, I knew I had a table of Yellow stuff out right now. But I totally went into the Kitchen and saw that the sponge and the banana’s were yellow. Well done!
Hi Beth. I love You Capture. I am just starting out in photography and at this point I only have a point and click. Eventually, I will get a DSLR, but now I have to work with what I have. Anyway, I have a question about DOF. I do not think my camera with do that, but can I do that in Photoshop Elements? I was actually trying for that effect on my cucumber shot using the blur and layers. For some reason it did not work. Anyway, I will try again.
I love the lemons!!

oooohhhh!! I love next week’s challenge!
Grr once again I can’t see your pictures, silly work computer….I’ll have to look when I get home. I’m excited about next week too, but I’ve been struggling with this it could be interesting.
I’m excited about next week’s challenge!
Ok, I am scared for next weeks challenge….. I don’t know how to do that, or if my Easy Shot Camera will do that, gulp.
Ok, I am scared of next weeks challenge. I don’t know how to do that (yet), and I don’t know if my Easy Shot Camera can do that, gulp.
Oooo,,, next weeks challenge will be fun!!
I love your lemon shot, too.
REALLY excited about next week’s challenge!
it was surprising how much yellow there is in my everyday life, this was a fun challenge…
great job with the lemons- i had fresh lemons (which i got to photograph the lemon bars) but completely spaced the actual lemons!
Love the fruit! wow, now I’m nervous about next week. Need to practice!
I sympathize! I took flower pics earlier in the week, but wanted to work them into some long, flowing epic monlogue. Yeah, that didn’t happen.
Love next week’s challenge. I have been shooting on my point and shoot for awhile to keep it simple while we move…but my daughter turned 2 yesterday and we are going out tomorrow to take pictures of her…which if my excuse to get the big guns back out and have some fun!!! Can’t wait to share what I come up with!
Awesome! Shallow dof is my absolute fav!
please don’t kick me out for having something yellow ,… but not quite yellow.
can’t wait for next week … i love me some bokeh!
This is my first week joining in on “You Capture”. Cool idea! I’m excited for next week. Thanks!
Lydia
Not sure my point and click can do it… or that I know how… but I’m gonna have fun trying! Thanks for the prompt.
hi, friend. i hope you’re having a good day. the kids and i enjoyed taking 58 pictures of yellow and having one kinda turn out. looking forward to next week…i really need to learn to take my camera off auto.
ellie and i are going to eat string cheese now. nuzzle eli’s neck for me!
Hey, at least you have fresh fruit in the house! I had to go for candy… : )
Hi Beth..I just found your site and I’m loving the assignments. Thanks for doing this. I’m a new blogger and trying to be a better photographer. It was fun looking for any yellow shots I might have had. I had more than I realized.

The depth of field challenge looks like it should be fun!
I hope my comment went in. I don’t see it.

I’m looking forward to our DOF challenge! And the weather around here should start to improve, so I can actually be outside for some shots!
I’ve missed coming by and doing your you capture challenges. I’m so glad to be back, and I am especially excited about next week’s challenge.
Hi, Beth! I just ran across your blog during while particiating in another blog hop. It seems to be right up my alley. Looking forward to snoooing around and getting to know your blog a bit. Nice to “meet” you!
I hope to play along for next week’s!
Steph
O! Next week’s challenge is exciting! I’d better start plotting now. Thanks so much, as always, for hosting this, Beth!
Well, bananas work for me!
Very interesting shots
I’m really looking forward to next week’s challenge!!
I too resorted to photographing bananas and lemons. Can’t wait for next week’s challenge.
Thanks for the You Capture challenge. These are so much fun and it gives me an excuse to walk around with my camera and look for something to take pictures of, instead of just annoying everyone at work with, “look how cute my baby is! look! look!”
After looking at everyone’s awesome last three (spring, more spring, and yellow) I have an idea for a future challenge: anything but flowers!
Seriously though, love the pics!
You have yellow bananas? Mine always have brown too.
And DOF? Crap, I’m going to have to learn how to use my camera…
so confession: i am coveting your lemons. (i was thisclose to purchasing a couple less than an hour ago, but they weren’t on sale and the little angel nic on my left shoulder convinced me to keep walking. or maybe that was the demon.)
every time i visit your blog i end up needing to repent of something.
my first week playing along — thanks for getting such a great community of photographers together. fun!
Beautiful captures. I have some bananas sitting right in front of me. However, they are more brown than yellow. LOL!
I’ll try to remember to participate next week! I need to be shooting more photos with intention.
