You Capture – Yellow

May 13th, 2010

Why, hello!

I have to tell you, when I pick a challenge each week, I have no idea what I’ll find to photograph, just like you.  Which causes a problem when I put off taking pictures each week and leaves me with what’s left in my house.

See?

fruit

hello yellow

There’s my yellow.  Pretty mellow, I admit.

Now it’s your turn to share but first … read the guidelines.  PLEASE?  With sugar on top?  Thanks, you’re the best.

Let’s get technical, shall we?  Next week’s challenge will be DEPTH OF FIELD (DOF).  Here’s an example of depth of field:

or

See that?  Focus subject, blurry background.  It can also be vise versa, focused background, blurry foreground.  Fun, right?

For those of you working in your manual settings, remember that the lower your aperture setting, the more depth of field you’ll have in your photo.  A great explanation of DOF can  be found here.

Happy Capturing, friends!

    Hi everyone!

Mellow Yellow is my theme this week…just happened to be lots of dandelions in my life last week.
Thanks Busy Beth for continuing this great Wednesday fun…I look forward, even if I miss a week here and there. I’ve got lots of bokeh to add next week!

Welcome newbies and PEACE be with us all,
    ~L

I’m a little late posting this week. It’s been nuts spending 2 days at the hospital with my son. Now I’ve got 3 days worth of work to catch up on and I’m posting pictures! :-) It’s way more fun than working!

my entry this week is an old photo, but why find something new and yellow when an old shot is just waiting to be rediscovered? Also, our bananas are still a little green right now. :-)

I love your yellows because in a few simple photographs of a few everyday subjects, we seem to get the whole gamut of yellow shades and it points out to me that I like the medium yellows best. Not the lemons but the apples – the the totally ripe bananas or the totally unripe bananas but the just right ripe bananas. Most of all I love that your photography skills reveal all the different yellows in the spectrum.

I don’t care for bananas myself, but they are great to take photos of. Yellow was a good topic this week, I ended up taking pictures of things from around the house also.
