I simply love water, but I can’t swim. To compensate, I drink a ridiculous amount of water every single day. Even during the night I wake up and take sips from the glass on my nightstand. My friends call me a “water buffalo.” (I hope this is because of my water intake and not because of my size, I better make sure.)
I love to watch my kids in water, too. We started Anna and Noah in swim lessons two weeks ago and they love it and we are so glad they are getting this important training. I’ve always lived by Lake Michigan. If you’ve never seen Lake Michigan in person (or any Great Lake), it’s not just a lake, it’s looks like an ocean. It’s beautiful and vast.
Anyway. We were in Chicago yesterday for a fun event with a certain celebrity from a certain Pixar movie opening this weekend. Here’s a hint:

ISO 100 | F4.0 | ss 1/800
The kids thought it was so cool the way we were walking along Michigan Avenue, along side giant buildings, then we walked through a tunnel to see this:

ISO 100 | F4.0 | ss 1/1250
Chicago is magical that way.
Let’s see, here are a few other water shots:

ISO 100 | F4.0 | ss 1/1000 (F4.0? wishing I had lowered that.)

ISO 160 | F3.2 | ss 1/1600
There you go! I hope you had a great time capturing water this week! Now it’s your turn to share!
But remember:
1. USE YOUR OWN PHOTOS. I know, DUH, but apparently not everyone does. (stealing photos from other sources is illegal, kthxbye.)
2. DO NOT SEARCH ARCHIVES FOR OLD PHOTOS that fit the current theme. Although we know you are proud and want to showcase your photos, please feel free to do so, just don’t link it to You Capture. The purpose of You Capture is to get you inspired to pick up your camera.
3. PLEASE LINK TO YOUR BLOG POST ABOUT YOU CAPTURE, not your blog.
To read more information about You Capture, simply go here.

Get down low.
I’m excited to see some new perspectives with this challenge!
Happy Capturing, friends!

[...] it rained this week, otherwise I would have had to bring the camera in the shower with me to get a water [...]
Anna is such a doll in that hat! (pun not intended)
Love the picture of your daughter.
I loved this “you capture” theme.
That’s a great shot of Noah!
Looks like fun! I had to (sort of) cheat on my rain pictures, b/c my camera battery died. But my sister took them at my request, so can’t those count as mine? Pretty please? LOL.
I walked through the tunnel onto the beach last summer carrying my 3-month-old in a Snugli. I’m guessing you did, too!
Your Anna is so lovely! What excitement for them!
I envy your proximity to Chicago to get to do fun day trips there for exciting events! We’re about 2 hours away (in the ‘burbs of Milwaukee) so we’re really not THAT far, but it feels like such a trek to get there!
Love that first shot! I am pretty much the opposite of you, and don’t drink enough water.
I drink way too much diet Dr pepper. I should work on that.
I can’t wait to see everyone’s photos!
I love the last one Beth – great capture of playing!
Love the first picture of your daughter – great depth of field and the colours are magic.
I love Chicago!!! Awesome shot too, with the Ferris Wheel in the distance!! And I LOVE her hat!! This week was lots of fun, as usual =)
Lovely shots, as always.
I wanna go to the beach!
Great captures
That first one is priceless…
love this weeks theme -
Glad to see there is someone else out there
who doesnt know how to swim.
Love the slip & slide shot! How fun!
I wish I could still run through the sprinkler or slip n slide without looking like a complete lunatic.
I’m so excited about this weeks theme, it was a lot of fun…
I love that shot of Anna, but be fun to take pictures of such beautiful kids:-)
I have never been to Lake Michigan but I used to live in CA so I think I get what you are saying about vastness. Love the your shots this week!
What beautiful shots! That first one is wonderful!
I love water. Swimming in it, drinking it…love it.
This was a fun one and I’m going to keep my eye out for some fun water shots this summer.
Perfect topic for summer. Could we do water every week, please??
I love that picture of Anna, she looks so beautiful and grown up in it!
Anna makes that Jessie hat look positively glam!
Love that pic of your daughter.
I’m all linked up. Thanks for hosting!
I love the picture of Anna, and I love the beach in the city aspect of Chicago.
Sorry about linking twice. I can’t seem to get along with Mr. Linky.
I adore that photo of Anna.
*swoon*
it is perfect
I can’t swim either, and that is where I started with my “water” challenge. When my son was six months old I took him to water babies so that he would know how to swim, I didn’t want him to be like me in that respect..and I am so glad I did.
The photo of Anna is just incredible. Thanks again for doing this, it is always fun and challenging.
I love the one of your daughter! What a fun weekend!
I love Lake Michigan too. We used to visit Grand Haven Michigan every other year to visit my grandma. Beautiful pictures! Looks like you had an awesome weekend
love the beach shot…but I also love the traffic barrel.
Can’t wait to check out everyone else’s shots!
Love the first one!
Ah, adorable picture with the Jessie hat!!!
I had such big plans for this week – and i procrastinated and never got to them. Oh well. There is water to be found in the backyard too, right? I am from Chicago and I was so wishing I was back there for this assignment to get shots of Lake Michigan – glad to see someone did!
I think you are doing pretty well with this manual photo task you gave yourself…great shots.
[...] To see more water pictures, visit Beth. [...]
I of course, kind of saw Lake Michigan while in Chicago last July but I didn’t get to REALLY experience it and would love to visit again and spend time there.
Noah’s expression in that last shot is fabulous. That looks like one awesome water slide!
Water was a great focus for Western MT this week…perpetual rainstorms with a few days warm enough to begin playing in the water in all the ways you should in the summer!
I have never been to downtown Chicago, despite working at Six Flags Great America for a summer…it looks really neat! With a husband in the Navy, we never live far from the coast and we have certainly learned to embrace beach living. I purposefully steered clear of that interpretation of water and sought out where else water pops up in our lives-the heat has definitly increased its neccesity!
aww…they’re doing the slip-n-slide! i love it!
and i love the traffic barrel one!
I love the picture of your daughter! She looks so content. I wish my battery had been charged during all the rain, there were many lost opportunities
.
I just happened to take a photo with water this week and Ashley at Ramblings and Photos said I should come over and enter it! My two 2-yr old toddlers playing in the bathroom sink. 4 hands, 4 feet, lots of cute.
I love all your photos all about water. Jessie looks adorable standing on the beach of Lake Michigan in her Toy Story cowgirl hat errrrr I mean Anna. And the photos of fun near and in the water are perfect. The kids and the slip and slide and then the multitudes enjoying the beach in Chicago. I even like the sharply reflected safety barrel.
Thanks for showing us the way to (You) Capture – Water.
i love working on the challenge each week. your first picture is beautiful!
The Chicago pictures made me so homesick! I desperately miss my home town! Great shots!
Anna is perfect in that hat! Such fun! This was a perfect summer theme!
I love that first picture!! I am looking forward to the next theme.
[...] This week’s You Capture theme is ‘water’. Water is my drink of choice (even when I’m not pregnant. Yes. I’m boring.) so I grabbed my camera and pointed it at my glass. Simple enough! [...]
Great sprinkler shot!
Great shots! They are all very fun. I love Chicago! I live on the other side of the big lake myself.
I cannot wait for Toy Story 3, it’s like the highlight of my weekend.
Lovely photos, you know, AS USUAL.
P.S. I do know how to swim and I think it’s overrated. Except I never put my head underwater ever because gag, drowning, scary.
