Hi Kris,

Your lens only has an aperture range of 3.5-5.6, which is why you aren’t able to go below 3.5. Which means it’s your lens and not your camera!

I have a photography question if somebody could please please help me. Is aperture limited by the camera’s capabilities or by the lens? My husband bought me a Canon T1i EF-S 18-55 IS kit and I was playing with the settings and I could only get the F stop down to 3.5. It wouldn’t go any lower I’m hoping this is because of the kit lens, and not the camera body.

Any clarification would be greatly appreciated!

p.s. I love the dump truck shot! Landscaping is such hard work, but makes the yard look so pretty.
