I can’t decide if I’m saying this with excitement or dread…
IT’S ALMOST BACK TO SCHOOL TIME!
Okay, maybe it’s both, a little bowl of excitement with a sprinkling of dread with a big fat dollar sign on top.
I’ve decided that I would like school if we could send our kids from 11-4, yes, that would be perfect. None of this early stuff.
I have a feeling that will never go my way but something that will go my way are character-free backpacks. I honestly love character-free anything but backpacks with a simple print on them have a special place in my heart.

This year, my kids are getting their backpacks from Lands’ End. They picked them out online and are super excited to receive them. I can always count on QUALITY when purchased from Lands’ End. I love that.

Today I am giving away one Lands’ End child’s backpack (up to a $50 value) to one very lucky winner!
How does one enter to win?
1. Leave a comment telling me something you really LOVE or really DISLIKE about Back to School.
2. Do not say “PICK ME” because that is so annoying.
3. Tweet, Facebook or blog about this giveaway and leave each individual link in the comments. Four ways to win!
PLEASE NOTE – Many comments go under moderation. If you do not see your comment show up immediately, IT’S OKAY. It will show up or my name isn’t Kenny Rogers. I have no idea what that means. Just trust me, yo.
Good luck!
One winner will be chosen randomly. The comments for this post will close on Friday, August 6th, 2010 at 9:00 pm CST.

I actually love the excitement of shopping for supplies, etc. Back to school is fun! Although it comes a little early around here… My oldest goes back next week!
i love back to school because i homeschool…and it means my kids to myself. selfish…i know! but they DO take some classes and therefore need a backpack…so there!
I really live back to school because it gives me stuff to do.
I dislike the fact that my oldest baby is starting school this year…I’m not ready!!
I dislike to realize on the first day of school that my kids (7&11) are a ‘grade’ older. It hits me every year.
I love the excitement of the whole new school year – new textbooks, new friends, new teacher . . . Unfortunately, the excitement doesn’t usually last too long!
I love getting a few hours of quiet time, but I hate getting back into the routine of getting out of the house early.
I am dreading school because my oldest is starting kindergarten and the first few weeks are going to be ROUGH. Looking forward to it because there will be a tiny bit more peace among the lil ones left at home.
What i love about back to school is seeing the excitement on my daughters face. She’s going into grade one and is so excited to get a recess and lunch break:) Still so excited to play and learn! She amazes me every day. She’s one smart cookie!
I LOVE back to school! We homeschool, so we get to enjoy the exciting parts of picking out supplies ~ fresh crayons and pencils, new notebooks ~ and yet I get to have my little loveys at home with me all day. It’s perfection!
I homeschool my oldest son, but my younger two will be in first grade and kindergarten. The youngest is oh so hyper. I am ready for all that kindergarten will bring to him (and a half day break for me, YAY!, but sad that my baby is growing up so fast all at the same time.). I am also NOT looking forward to school starting at 7:45am:(
I like the routine of the school year, and that the weather is cooler. Sorry, I’m just not a hot weather gal!
I have a love hate relationship with back to school. You see I’m a teacher. Part of me is super excited to meet a new bunch of kids and start and adventure with them. But part of me is going to miss the freedom of summer!
Trite, but back to school shopping. I love picking the stuff off the list, getting the clothes and shoes ready to go, and finding the perfect lunchbox and backpack!
It will be our first back to school this year as I enrolled my baby in preschool for the fall! I don’t know what to love or hate about it yet, but I do both love and hate feeling all emotional and it is a month away.
Oh wait, I DO know what to hate. Paperwork. Oh and the fact that the meet the teacher event is on a week day, during the day, same time as school. Some of us preschool moms do work during those hours. I’m already taking off her first day, and time to move. Adding another day…well it will be rough.
I always get so emotional at back to school. I can’t handle thinking that my baby is growing up and is facing this scary world. Plus, fighting all those back to school shoppers. ACK!
Dislike it because it is the end of summer.
I dislike that my kids have to GO back to school, as I wish school lasted a bit longer. Also I kind of stress out about getting all their school supplies exactly as stated on the form. But I also like that fall comes soon after back to school and it’s my favorite time of the year!
Steph
I love, love, LOVE her stacked silver rings! So pretty, and perfect with many outfits!
One thing I love about back to school time is that it wears my kid out — and there are no naps — so bedtime is early and my husband and I get our evenings back.
I really love that I don’t have to do as many dishes. It is amazing how many dishes we dirty in a single day when it’s just me and my girls at home all day.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE (in an unhealthy way) school supplies. And my most favorite thing to do when I was a kid was to come home from the store with all my supplies and put the paper and dividers in my notebooks and the pencils in their pouches and my information in the day planner…. and in an hour or so I’m headed to buy school supplies for my oldest for the very. first. time.
My oldest is going to start kindergarten in less than three weeks.
I’m still so much in denial that I don’t want to even think about school supplies or backpacks…. or the fact that she won’t be with me all day long….
So – I dislike school altogether right now.

I HATE making Lunches!!!!! I have 5 children… and I DREAD making their lunches the night before what a nightmare, they are already sick of PB&J!!!!! =)
Oh my gosh! This stuff is GORGEOUS! Thank you for giving us the link. I love her stuff! The Boho bracelet is awesome! I love it! And of course the family necklaces with the names. I’m a sucker for those. And even if I don’t win I’m ordering that blue ring. I LOVE that.
I dislike how I can never find the right back to school clothes in my son’s sizes (probably because I wait till the last minute!), I would shop online but he grows so fast that we always have to try the stuff on.
we are all about no licensed characters either, and i love me some new, fresh school supplies like the big ol’ school nerd that i am:)
Love the anticipation, don’t love the big money spent at the beginning of the year….boo! My two sons are going into 4th and 6th grades this year…..eek!
I love the fact that my son learns so much in school and really enjoys it. I dislike him being gone all day cause I miss him!
I hate getting up and getting my 5 kids ready that early in the morning.

I dislike when the buses start up again – if I don’t leave my house exactly on time for work, it can add an extra 20 minutes to my commute!
I love the structure, the routine, the fact that my kids have fun with friends and love their teachers. I don’t like that they are gone 5 days a week. But oh well.
This will be our first “Back to School” with my oldest heading to Kindergarten! I’ve been trying to persuade her away from a princess backpack, and I would love to get her one of the Lands End character-free backpacks. I think she’d go for the pink butterfly pack. Thanks for the great giveaways!
I really don’t like back to school. My daughter, however, is over-the-moon excited to start 1st grade. Mommy’s not ready!!!
I love everything about summer. Sun, swimming and sleeping. But, back to school allows more “me” time.
I love the interesting facts my son brings home. Such as Mommy, did you know that three time four is twelve? Amazing fact for a kindergartner, I am excited to hear what new facts a first grader will bring home!
Mine are too young for school so I haven’t experienced it yet. I remember liking when my mom covered my books with inside out grocery bags so I could decorate them myself.
love: fresh school supplies & teachers that i know love their jobs & their students very, very much.
DISLIKE: that all my kids aren’t home together all day.

I homeschool my children, and I LOVE getting to choose the date we start and our schedule for the year!
As a working mom, it’s a challenge to get myself, the school-aged daughter, and 2 non-school aged daughters out of the house on time, without losing it!
My daughter thrives on intellectual stimulation, so she loves school!
I hate when the school supplies list has hard to find items!
Like 2 purple pens… why do they have to be purple? Have you ever tried finding just purple pens? You cannot buy them by the single… they must be purchased in a pack with 10 other colors that cost $10 …. WHY teachers WHY?
I really love some quiet time. I love me some quiet.
I really do not care for homework and getting up really super early.
I LOVE those Land End’s backpacks! I was looking at the catalog the other day! I like back to school because I like shopping with the kids for their school supplies and taking time out to spend with each kid (I have 4! and 3 in school this year) to do something special, go shopping, a lil mom and me time! And for some weird reason, I like new school supplies, ha!
I love the return to structured days when school starts. We try to stuff so much fun into summer that all routines just fly out the window! Making lunches really is the pits, though…
This is my daughters first year of school! I am very happy and excited because I love the school and can’t wait to volunteer and be an involved parent:)
I love back to school! This year all three of my girls will be in school…sniff, sniff… But, I have to admit that I love shopping for school supplies….almost more than the kids do!
