Every night, before bed, Noah tells me how he feels about his day.
Some days are fast and some days are slow. He doesn’t like fast days because they’re just too fast, he likes his days to be more leisurely, apparently.
Yesterday, however, what with all of the grounding and all, was a slow day.
But for me, it was a good day. We read, we did math, we played games, ran errands, registered for school, Anna, Noah and I picked up pizza and turned up the radio, we had ice cream cones because they let me take pictures of them for a photography workshop I’m taking…
At the end of the day, when the kids typically watch TV in their pjs before bed, we snuggled and talked about school. I think I may ground them every day.
Not really.
But listen. Yesterday, after I wrote my post and hit publish, the first comment came in with words of support and sisterhood and I instantly felt better. And with each comment my heart turned happier and all of you made a big difference in my day. This is why I have a blog.

Beth, you are killing me with these silhouette shots. Guess I’m going to have to learn how to do them because they’re beyond cool.
Beth, those pictures are just plain out GORGEOUS! What’s killing me is seeing those and knowing that because my bright a$$ decided to go and pick up a temporary accounting job before baby #3 arrives (thought I might need a break before the newest long stretch at home) I CAN’T GO OUT TAKING PICTURES in this beautiful lighting we are having today.
And that was the longest run on sentenance I’ve done in a while
Hope your Wednesday is as wonderful as yesterday was for you ~ I love days of no TV in my home. My kids might not, but I sure do!
First of all – great pictures beginning with yesterday’s silhouette. So gorgeous!
I’m glad your day got better yesterday thanks to all your bloggy friends and the evening was quiet and comfortable. Parenting is definitely a roller coaster ride!
Lovely photos. I just love the guitar silhouette. Also, I’m interested in learning more about photo workshops. Are you attending one through an art program or college? I ask simply because I feel like I need to branch out, meet other photographers and get more feedback on my work. Right now I feel like I am in my own little world, creating photographs and, I think, doing good work, but I have the urge to grow. Any ideas?
Silhouettes are awesome.
Can we do this for a You Capture? It could be fun!
It’s why I blog as well. ;o) I work in my home, and my job doesn’t allow me to leave at all until 4:00 pm. When I need a creative outlet, an emotional outlet, or just a for fun outlet… i go to my blog or read my favorite blogs.
I’m glad you’re feeling better.
Great pictures!!
Ahh, the sisterhood of blogging. It just doesn’t get any better than that.
Reason #1,328 why I love your blog: You are so honest, yet funny at the same time. I really don’t mean to laugh at your bad days, but the way you told your story yesterday was hysterical. On the other hand, I love your honesty – when you hit a rough spot, you’ll share, but you also share when the rough spot is over, like today. I do believe some people (online and offline) try to play it off like they have the perfect marriage, perfect kids, perfect life, and it gets so irritating. No one does anyone any favors by not telling it like it is. So thanks for being you!
Also, the pictures of your children are stunningly gorgeous.
Slow days are THE BEST! Why don’t I make time for more of them?? Oh and could you ask Anna if I could have her hat because I LOVE IT!
That photo of Noah is like, tears stinging stunning. Cover of his first album.
Also, even tho I forget sometimes, that’s why I blog, too.
Steph
Hi Beth,
I absolutely love reading your blog (I am a fairly new reader to it) and these pics of your beautiful children. You are very talented.
I could so relate to your post yesterday and am happy that although your kids were grounded you had a great day with them.
I look forward to reading your blog on a regular basis. Your honesty at parenting is exactly what I need to read right now as I try to find a groove of being a parent myself to 4 little ones under the age of 6.
I hope the rest of your week keeps getting better.
Thank you for letting me know I am not alone in having the bad days and for the courage to blog about them!
Take care,
Michelle
I agree with Steph about the picture of Noah. I wonder if you realize how far you’ve come with your photography in just the last few months? I mean, you’ve always been good and I’ve always believed in the depth of your talent, but Beth, you’re blowing me away.
I’m glad you’re feeling better! I think that’s why a lot of us started out blog. It gives us a way out without screaming or completely losing it in the middle of Target.
And your photos are stunning! I love them both!
Beth, I was reading from my phone yesterday and my phone doesn’t like when I comment on posts, but I did want to send you hugs. It doesn’t matter how well you train your children they will stumble and their stumbling will always cause you to wonder if it was something you did or didn’t do.
I could tell you about the time my 12 year old not only invited the whole neighborhood into our house but she invited them in to show them something that she found that not only she shouldn’t have been viewing, but that she shouldn’t have been showing the WHOLE ENTIRE neighborhood children. It was horrifying to say the least, but we got past it. After punishment, of course.
Your photos are beautiful. I agree with Erin that you have grown so much.
I am glad that today has you feeling better and happier.
Yep, some days slow days are THE best. Kinda like your photographs.
Love the photos as always. Every night my daughter and I have a chat about the day and it is always an opportunity to get everything in perspective. Glad you had a good day after the grounding. Sometimes just taking it slow is good for everyone.
I’m a new reader and I really love your blog. I love the honesty in your writing. Slow days are the best and it sounds like you had a much better day (even if the kids were grounded). I also think your photos are awesome and would love to know how you photographed the silhouette.
I’m glad the day ended up turning out ok!
I love love love your photos! So beautiful!
I love your photography, your kids of course are perfect models.
Those pictures are jaw dropping gorgeous! I adore the way you spent your “extra” time with your grounded kiddos!!
LOVE the guitar picture. LOVE. My brother is a professional musician– you may have to teach me camera things so I can take pictures of him like that becuase my mom would cry. And, if I ever had kids I plan on plopping guitars in thier laps at birth, so I suppose if I learn how to take that picture now, it’s just saving time later when I take 302948239048230948 of them.
I’m your newest follower!
Amazing shots!!!!!

OMG, my son’s classmate lives down the street and they always come down here to swim..yes, him AND his sister. They show up at noon in these 100 degree temperatures. It is crazy! Finally I told their mom they can’t come over til’ I call them! I was feeding them and hydrating them daily…it was nuts.
Super cute photos! Thanks for sharing about your breastfeeding experience too. . . I just wrote a post about mine – it proved pretty much impossible for me but I sure did try!
