Hey, everyone.
I hope you all had a good time outside with your camera. One of the best I ways I learned and practiced composition was by going on photo walks, the earth’s landscape acts as wonderful models for us practicing our photography. Do you know about the rule of thirds? You can see some examples of this basic rule of composition by heading here!
Our weather here has been nothing short of beautiful. Cooler days, clear, blue skies, positively gorgeous! Although I’m not wanting summer to leave us so quickly, I can’t help but appreciate these beautiful days!
This weekend we ate nearly every meal outside, how could we not?! (plus, Elijah likes it outside, so meal time = peaceful time, too.)
Monday night we had a summer time feast, complete with s’mores. If you haven’t tried s’mores with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, you must. They are amazing.
Anna could not agree more.

One thing I’ve been doing is “splurging” on a small bouquet of flowers from Wal-Mart every week or two. The cost is $5 and it’s worth every penny. I split up the arrangement and keep a small glass of flowers in my boring bathroom and place the rest in my kitchen. I loved the pink roses because they reminded me of the flowers at my wedding. I took the arrangement outside with us while we ate. It was such a simple wonderful touch.
(these flowers last so long, too! Try it!)

Mornings.
Happy Capturing, friends!

Beautiful photo of Anna. I think I might just have to treat myself to some flowers, yours are beautiful, I love the pale pink color.
We have been at the beach so my outside this past week has been all about sand, sea and sunshine.
Reeces PB cup s’mores??? Be still my beating heart and why in the world have I never thought of this?? Your roses are beautiful. Right now I have the biggest bouquet of daisies (the flowers from MY wedding and my favs) sitting in a huge vase in my dining room and I smile every time I walk by them – of course that might have something to do with hubby getting them for no reason. I’m all for fresh flowers for any reason what-so-ever! Thanks for hosting!
Great link, and beautiful photos. I love the idea of an inexpensive bouquet of flowers for inside the house. Except they make me sneeze. I need a plant!
Wow those are some gorgeous roses! They look like a bouquet, not part of a bush. Great edits!
Beautiful! And how weird is it that I’d never heard the rule of thirds until Saturday, and since then you are the THIRD person to mention the rule of THIRDS!
Steph
These are great photos and I love the idea of buying inexpensive flowers. If only my cat didn’t feel the need to eat live plants. Unfortunately, our weather has not been nice so last night was the first time I was able to really get outdoors…and I was exhausted. Hope you have a great day!
I’m in love with the photo of the flowers. The photo (and the flowers) are so pretty.
oh I wish the Walmart by me sold flowers!! What a lovely idea!
I do not like smores, but I do love me a chocolate peanut butter cup – have to try this one!!
Wow and I am an idiot! LOL No wonder the flowers look like a bouquet! They are!!! LOL (rolling eyes at myself)
Oh my goodness, those roses – beautiful!!
Gorgeous photos! I definitely have to try your S’Mores suggestion…yum?!
We were actually leaving to Wal-Mart in a minute–definitely going to pick up a bouquet of flowers for myself now
I love to bring home fresh flowers. I think I will head to Walmart today!
I love the roses! I might have to start doing that with the flowers.
I wanted to do S’mores with Reeses the last time, but hubs bought the stuff and (shocker) he can’t read my mind!! So instead, I spread peanut butter on the graham crackers, then chocolate, then the marshmallow. So yummy!!
Beautiful photos!
Those are some beautiful roses!
WOW!! Both if these are SO beautiful!! LOVE love love your edit of the little roses!!! SO beautiful! Makes me want to head to the grocery store right now and buy some little beauties like these!!
I too have been treating myself weekly this summer to fresh flowers from the local farmer’s market. It really is amazing how such a small gesture to myself can not only lift my spirits but brighten the house as well.
And, Reese’s cup smores….DIVINE!!! Just so darn good!! How I never knew about them before this summer I will never know. YUM!
i love PB smores and flowers in tiny, glass vases. a lot.
sweet anna. i hope they’ve had a good first days of school!
I’ve never tried s’mores with peanut butter cups, sounds delicious!
Great pic of Anna!
What beautiful pictures! I stumbled across your blog this week and was an immediate follower
I also just linked up for You Capture!! (have you thought about the thumbnail version of Mr.Linky? Its really awesome and you get a tease of the fabulous photos people are posting!)
Love the flowers. I always eyeball them at costco and the famrers market and convince myself that we dont need to spend the money on them. I think next week I will put tape over the mouth in my head that tells me that, and buy some anyway!!
Our local grocery store often has good deals on flowers, too, so every once in a while I’ll splurge. I love when they have carnations 2/$1 because they last forever!
Really lovely! And, those eyes. Wow.
wow! really gorgeous entries this week!
Beautiful shots, Beth. Especially the roses – so exquisite and delicate! Great capture.
We make smores with Hershey’s chocolate with almonds. OMG.
And I’ve been doing the same thing with grocery store flowers, it makes me happy.
When we got married, my Mom told my husband, “She should always have fresh flowers”. And so I do, whether my husband brings me home a $5 bunch, or I go and cut some from the yard. Fresh flowers just make everything better.
Peanut butter cups go well with just about everything, don’t they??
I need to get some fresh flowers. They do brighten things up SO much! Love the look of that photo…
Fresh flowers in the house are a must!!
Fantastic shots! Can’t decide which one I like more
Great shots. I love the roses. A lot of people had roses and smores this week.
I love eating outside, and that picture of Anna is wonderful.
I love eating outside too, and that picture of Anna is beautiful.
ok… this is the third time Im trying to leave a comment! I hope it works!
Love the flowers! I always tlak myself out of the bouquets at costco and the farmers market. I think Ill get one next week. Gorgeous!
this is my first week playing along with You Capture. I love it! (and have you seen the thumbnail Mr. Lunky? with little tasty morsels of the pics that people are posting- its awesome!)
My goodness your kiddos have striking eyes! I’ve missed posting here. Hope you are well!
Oh s’mores YUMM.. I have not had one all summer!!
Your daughter is beautiful! She looks just like you but I’m sure you hear that alot!!!
I absolutely love Smores especially when the chocolate is all gooey down the sides. Yum!
Great photos!
Those flowers are gorgeous, but that picture? WOW.
I haven’t had s’mores since the 4th of July. Remember how I was supposed to be breaking the graham crackers but I was failing miserably and insisting that I wasn’t drunk (I was)? That was nice. Can we go back to that?
I just wanted to tell you how much I’m enjoying the You Capture challenge. It’s just what I needed to get me using my D70 more regularly. Love the photo of your daughter.
I hadn’t even seen this post before I sent you the e-mail earlier. Yet another great shot of your daughter. The one you posted a couple of days ago, was it the first day of school maybe?, was fabulous!
