Smokey Links

September 29th, 2010

When I was young, we used to have smokey links often.  Usually with macaroni and cheese.  My Mom would butter the bread and put the smokey link inside the bread and close it up and the butter would melt and it was just so good.

Now, as adults, they’re not really easy to find, in fact, I can’t find them.  I find Breakfast Links and something else and maybe that’s just what they’re called now.  I miss them.

This post has nothing to do with Smokey Links.  But it does have to do with links that I’m going to share with you, so read on:

First, I posted over here.  Join me.

Second, I found this recipe for Hot Fudge Sundae Cupcakes and it’s all I can think about.  Let me know if that happens to you, too.

Third, I’ve been trying new recipes with my family.  I have discovered two super simple recipes from The Pioneer Woman that we absolutely LOVE.  Grilled Chicken with Lemon Basil Pasta and Pasta with Tomato Cream Sauce.  Try them, try them, you will see.

Fourth, if you use Blogger and want to post larger photos, Fabulous K has a great tutorial on how to achieve that.

Fifth, my sister and I went to Anthropologie in Indianapolis on Monday.  I bought this bowl (among other beautiful things).  It makes me happy.

Sixth:

Leave your link here to share your blog with others! Don’t be shy! Visit some new blogs, be inspired by others, share yourself!  (just link up to your blog, no strings attached!)

And also…delurk. Tell me who you are!  I received a comment last week that said “Beth, I’ve been reading your blog for years and have never commented.”  and I thought “BUT! I want to know who you are! ”  So, please, tell me who you are!  I love reading about you!

Lastly: I have posted on my Beth Fletcher Photography blog!  One post has new photos and the other is announcing my mini sessions.  (which is the only time this year I will be offering these!)  There are only two slots remaining!

Have a great day, friends.

Why ask people to delurk when you have no intention of posting comments that don’t lick you with praise?

    Hi Beth!
I am Kira, and have commented here in the past, but not for a while (I won some of your awesome giveaways a while back too! Still LOVE my Lands End fleece that I won!). I have been reading your blog since July of 2008. “How does she remember that?”, You are probably wondering….well, because I happened to stumble upon your blog while my husband and I and 3 small kids were on a train trip from FL to NY. In a sleeper car. In a sleeper room that was about the size of my bathroom. Ever tried to sleep in a moving bathroom with 4 other people? No? Not easy, let me tell you. So, since we had a wireless-card-thingee, I could get internet sporadically as we went through little town after little town. I remember going back and reading your blog from beginning to end, and I’ve been coming back ever since! :)
So, that is the story of how we met! Crazy, huh? Oh – wait – you haven’t actually met me. Hmmmm…..well, I am on the downside of my 30′s, have been married for 12 years, and have 3 WILD little boys. They are loud. I love them, but man – they are wild and loud. And rambunctious. And loud. But did I mention how much I love them?

Oh – and now I am on a quest to find smoky links. I’ve never had them, but now must try them.

Oh, honey. Beth likes to be licked with plenty of things other than praise. Her favorite is whipped cream, but when she’s feeling extra saucy, I believe she likes a little chocolate syrup.
(You might want to look into that, by the way. It seems like you could use a little extra happiness in your life and well, that might improve your mood a little. I know no one likes unsolicited advice, but just a thought!)

    Hi!
I’m Brittany and I blog over at The MamaZine. I read often and comment sometimes. ; ) I wish I had more time then I’d leave more comment love on more blogs, more often! I’ve always wanted to go to an Anthropologie. I think from what I’ve seen their stuff is totally my style, or what I would like my style to be if I had a bunch of money and didn’t live in t-shirts and yoga pants. Love this idea of requesting a delurking. I have a few comments on each post but when I do happen to check the numbers it looks like a lot more are stopping by. It always leaves me wondering who they are!

LOL @ Erin And Keli’s comments! Oh gosh lol

    Hi Beth! I’m delurking :-)

I’ve read your blog off and on for a few months now. I’m real bad at leaving comments though. I try to do better … but with housework, homeschooling, breaking up squabbles between our daughters (almost 7 and almost 2), chasing after a 4mo kitten who’s in training {grin}, and a 1yr cat who’s forgotten her training, and making sure to spend time with the laid-back 7yr old dog … oh and the husband too? I sometimes just forget to not just READ but comment too ;-)

Hi Beth! I’m Casey from over at Bumpin Along the Road Less Traveled. Yours was one of the first blogs I came across when I first discovered the world of blogging (probably because of all the You Capture buttons everywhere), and was reading the guidelines at You Capture and you said something about “why not have a blog? It’s free!”. So I did get a blog, and I’ve kept up with it for over a year! Big deal for me. And I love blogging. So thanks for the inspiration! I have 4 kiddos who I live on a small farm with and homeschool, and a fantastic patient husband who puts up with crazy me. Thanks for letting us do the blog link up. And thanks for You capture every week! Love it! Love your blog and pics, too.

I don’t know if I’ve ever commented on your blog. Maybe? (Can I blame Mommy brain on not actually REMEMBERING? I say…yes.)
And what a dud that Arlen is. (Except not dud. Likely something involving things that look like this $#(*@&. Am I right?)
I found your blog from likely one of the three muskateers (Erin, Steph or Love) (also, that name…? I mean only good things from it. Also, I am jealous of having other Mommy blogger friends that you actually know and love in person. I wish I had that) that I had been reading their blogs and following on twitter and you were mentioned multiple times so I check ya out.
And I sometimes do You Capture. Sometimes I don’t. I find it hard to be boxed in. (I was a horrible student.)
    Anyway… Canadian delurk accomplished! :)

I have been reading your blog for a few months now. I am a SAHM to 3 young children. My oldest is in pre-k and my youngest is just 3 months. I love my God, my Family, and Photography. Yep, those are pretty much the 3 things that rock my world these days. When I have time, I enjoy walking (ya know…the fast paced, get your heart rate pumping, fingers are swollen, kind of walking), teaching myself new things in photoshop, and reading books. I fit my blog reading time in every few days and always enjoy seeing what you are up to. I’ve also loved seeing your photography updates on fb.

i too love smokey links. actually, my husband introduced them to me before we were married. they are REALLY good when cooked over an open fire. but served with mac n cheese would be yummy too. mmmm. better get that meal in before i start ww next week. ha!
