I had one of those weekends that you dream about, the kind where the weather turns cold and you cozy up at home with a toffee mocha. You burn apple and cupcake candles. You wake up at 6:30, just to take a 90 minutes nap at 9:30. You get along with your husband. You laugh a lot and even watch some TV. Your baby is content, FINALLY content.
You don’t spaz about getting things done. And oddly enough, this makes you more pleasant to be around which makes everyone happier which makes you happier…
One of those weekends where you husband does every single piece of laundry without you having to ask. (he even puts it all away.)

At night, rather than your kids watching TV, they decide they’d rather sit on the floor with you as your play with the baby. The baby that is growing up way too quickly.
It was good and busy.

Actually, it was the best weekend I have had in a long, long time. No time restraints, a happy baby, a beautiful family. It was blissful.
And it started on Friday while photographing Viola Charlotte, my best friend Sarah’s new baby girl. She’s so squishy and feminine with big cheeks and the daintiest little fingers and feet.

Sarah is a rock star, she delivered her on Sunday (VBAC!), Viola weighed in at ten pounds and did I mention Sarah did it pain med free? Whoa.
and also, OW.
and also…aw.

I had this thought the other day: “Tomorrow, today is yesterday.” And it made me feel more in control of how I want to be, just saying that over and over again in my head has given me a great outlook on my day, hour…minute.
I’m trying.

Can I just say that I love how the plates are hung on the wall, and I love baby rolls!
And so happy that you had an amazing weekend. When soccer season is (finally) over I’ll look forward to the same!
Can you even take it? Those plates are on Sarah’s wall. Amazing.
*faints from cute overload*
I’m gonna move to Indiana to hug those babies, just so you know. (troy has those jammies that Eli is wearing)
The plates, the chair, the BABY? Genius. Love it. Now if you will excuse me, I’m off to hang plates on my wall and make Troy pose.
This is a great post – such a wonderful reminder just to enjoy what we have.
I have a hard time on the weekends turning it down. I always have a list of things we have to get done. This past weekend I tried to lighten up and it was more enjoyable, even if our house looks a lot worse than normal.
Thank you for this – I am going to try to make a mantra of “Tomorrow, today is yesterday”.
I just have chills up and down all over when I see her photo.
Steph
Thanks, Stephie.
Man, oh man, I am in desperate need of one of *those* weekends.
Lovely photos, girlie.

Oh, those jammies, those plates, those squishy baby rolls. Your photos are stunning, and I’m so so happy for Sarah!
Oh my. She’s just too precious. Makes me want to have a baby girl. Right. Now.
I’m so glad it’s getting cold enough for footie jammies again.
The plates = I. want. them. now.
Oh I want to smoosh her! And Eli!
Together in one big, happy, chubby, baby smoosh. And take a deep breath.
Oh the joy.
And the plates. I want that in my house. Like now.
Oh my…precious, precious baby (yours and Sarah’s!)
I had one of those weekends too this past weekend. It had been so, so long since we’d just had a weekend to hang. Mine started with a date with my boy….it was nice to have that time together with my first born before we become a family of four when Songbird comes home.
And those plates….want!
Beth, I love those days. The days when you can feel your feet on the ground and the rhythm of your breath entering and exiting your lungs . Reading this piece about your peace almost made me weep. I hope your days continue in this vein
But also? TEN POUNDS? If it were me, I would be all “thanks, but no thanks!!!”
