You Capture – Animals

October 14th, 2010

Hi friends.

This You Capture is brought to you by Baby Einstein.  No lie, Eli is watching it very intently but I’m pretty sure he’ll stop since I mentioned it to you.

I hope you all had a great time capturing animals.  We don’t have any pets but what I did notice, while driving around, is that there are lots of dead raccoons on the side of the road and also, the spiders this year are the size of small cats.  Both are disturbing images so I chose to NOT capture either dreadful thing.

But I remembered an old barn that I used to pass that had horses, so I packed up my chickens and we went driving through the country.  And then we picked up Taco Bell.

pretty horsies.

horsie

I tried to get his attention.  I was like “HORSIEEEEEE….SAY CHEEEESE.”  and “here, horsie horsie horsie.”  But then I heard a door slam and pictured a farmer with a gun taking aim at me and I shoved off.

So, it’s a camera shy horse.  You are welcome.

If you’ll excuse me, I’m off to buy every single Baby Einstein video ever made because HE IS STILL WATCHING OHMYGOD.

Now it’s your turn to share!

But first, please read:

YAY for Baby Einsteins… my kids loved those darn movies. Many-a-meals were made while they were sucked into one of those DVD’s :D Buy a couple more!! I hope he is doing okay, poor guy!

I love your horsey shot and am laughing at how similiar your experience sounds to mine – except my son was yelling neighhhh out the window and it actually worked! They all looked over at him :D

Oh my gosh, Baby Einstein was a savior in our house, too! They still ask to watch the animal one when we go on road trips!

Your whole farmer-gun scenario is precisely why I didn’t take pictures of the multitude of cows around here. Plus, the parking’s bad.

What a beautiful farm & horse! I also wanted to get some horse images but when I had my camera, they were not available…and then they’d be back in the field when I didn’t have it with me. What does this teach me? Never leave home without my camera :)

Any yeah for Baby Einstein. My 2yo old also loves it…and Elmo. Oh how she screams for him :)

I love all the fall colors, and even if the horse was less than cooperative, it’s still a gorgeous shot!!

So glad Eli is doing fine. I know this has been a scary experience for all of you. With my 3 kiddos, we’ve made 3 trips to the ER for head injuries…one requiring stitches, and two of those were for my daughter. My most reckless, rambunctious kid? He hasn’t gone to the ER yet…go figure…

I hope you and your family have a great rest of the week!

Speaking of little ones watching movies, I showered this afternoon, right before dinner none-the-less, thanks to Tinkerbell. My boys love her. LOL.

The colors in your picture scream *fall* to me. So pretty and warm.

I really like your horsie/barn shot but most of all I love the story of your trying to get their attention and then having to steal away so you wouldn’t get shot (potentially). LOL Great photo.

Horses are total jerks. We always had horses growing up and I have a scar on my middle finger on my right hand because one tried to EAT MY FINGER off while I was feeding it a carrot. RUDE.

I like your photo, glad you didn’t get shot.

    A couple things:
#1. Baby Einstein is the reason my second son is with us today. Or me. Because one or both of us were doomed that first year. I *heart* Baby Einstein!

#2. Thank yous are in order! Thank you for doing this every week! I’m sure it isn’t easy to come up with weekly themes and making sure to post them each week (knowing that we’re all waiting on the edge of our laptops to link up). But I want you to know that I feel like I’m growing as a photographer and I give a lot of credit to you and to You Capture. You, Nick Kelsh and Darby (my 3 boybarians) have helped me, photographically speaking, more than any other source. More than i heart Faces. More than Pioneer Woman. So thank you for giving me something to focus on each week and for challenging me to get better!

Love the fall trees in the background. It’s a great shot, even if the horse didn’t look at you. Next time munch on some carrots, he might hear the crunch and look up!

    Hi Beth,

Just wanted to check… I am new to this site and LOVE the photography challenge! But, I’m not sure if I’m adding my link properly. Do I add my link to the “next week’s challenge” post or wait for you to post yours and then add mine? Does that make sense?

When I take my photos for “orange”, do I wait for you to post yours and then add my link too? :o ) Just checking… I think I’ve been doing it wrong the last two times. Wanted to stop being “that girl who doesn’t follow directions”. ;o)
