The kids are home from school, Brian is home from work, the house feels so cozy and warm. We are all still in our pajamas.

Our entire county is under a state of emergency, no one should be on the roads except emergency vehicles. Lots of snow, ridiculous wind and sub-zero temperatures. I love looking outside and seeing my neighbor’s homes and picturing all of them, snug in their homes, a cup of coffee in their hands, still wearing their pajamas, cuddled up with their families.

It’s almost like today was a gift to slow down. Stop the rush, stop the everydayness of everyday…just be still.

It’s not a snow day.

It’s a slow day.

I saw this blanket at the Anthropologie store in Indianapolis last month. The minute I saw it, I knew it was mine, everything about it was perfect. I love buying things knowing that my children and grandchildren will use them.

And then I saw the price tag and promptly put it down because there is no way I could/would buy a throw for $198. But I haven’t stopped thinking about it.

(it’s way more amazing in person, I think I should learn how to knit, just so I can recreate this.)

Today, I plan to take photos, clean my home, light candles and make some almond tea ring. Tea ring is a recipe that we’ve enjoyed in our family for as long as I can remember. My Grandma used to make it for all of us at Christmas. We’d wake up each Christmas morning and have a slice with butter on it. Nothing says Christmas more than tea ring. Last year, I took on the reigns and made it for the first time.

I was thinking about sharing this recipe with all of you.

I’m still thinking. It’s so delicious and should be shared. My Grandma would be proud.

If you are at home, enjoy the stillness.

If you are at work, take a moment to breathe in and breathe out. There’s a difference between being still and doing nothing.

Just be still and happy slow day.
