Again with the yellow

January 11th, 2011

Back before Eli was born and I was hugely pregnant with a giant baby trying to push himself out of my belly through my belly button, I wrote a post about the color yellow and my new love for it.

Come to find out, nearly ten months later that it wasn’t just a quick fling but a true love affair.

It’s even in my new logo, which is a sign of true love, for sure.

But I keep finding things on the internet and beyond that make me melt, yellows pillows and shirts, yellow candle holders and yellow handbags.

I wanted to share some beautiful yellow with you. You like yellow, right?

This wall art?

a simple yellow coin purse.

and OHMYGOODNESS, this chair:

I super-duper love this dutch oven, although, my kitchen walls are sort of yellow so it wouldn’t work. I’d probably paint my walls for this dutch oven, though.

Speaking of wall color. If I could paint my kitchen walls any color, I’d choose white. No kidding.

This adorable storage bench is on my very long WANT list:

It’s interesting…I love yellow but I do not have much of it. I should probably change that.

I do, however, have this scarf, it’s my favorite winter accessory!

What color do you absolutely LOVE?

I’m a yellow lover as well! : ) Have been since I was a child. My Mama Jones’ kitchen walls were the color of sunshine and it was always my favorite place to be. : ) Now I have yellow walls in my parlor and beneath the chair rail in the eat-in end of my own kitchen, I have a Waverly yellow plaid wallpaper.

But I will confess to a love affair with another color as well. (Yes, I’m a two-timer!) ; ) I adore coral! My front door is coral, I had coral carpeting in my last home, and I’ll have coral in this house before I’m done. Promise. It’s such a happy color!

BTW, LOVE that scarf! : ) And the Dutch oven.

I just love the colors purple and gold; not together. I love gold for jewelry and accessories. I love the gold is in style and doesn’t look like grandmother’s jewelry. I love purple for markers and fonts and accessories and bags and the occasional sweater or shirt. But really I just wear a lot of black, brown, and greys…It’s nice to have little pops of color here and there though, I think! I love purple like you love yellow…when I see it I’m just drawn to it.

Thank you for posting the links to these items…like I really needed to see that ;) I definitely added that bench to my wishlist too. ADORABLE!! I have lately been drawn to yellow/gray combos and red. I love red lately which I think is kind of outside my box.

    That chair is awesome!

My color love changes all the time. My wedding was even a rainbow of colors as I could not settle on just one!

I <3 purple. More of a plum purple but all purples. My daughter is always wearing purple. Never a barney purple but all other purples.

I adore the color yellow.. It’s so bright & cheerful! I don’t have a lot of it around my house either come to think of it (and with my skin tone, I cannot wear it! :( I had painted a kitchen years back a color called Wild Bamboo (http://marketplace.hgtv.com/Product.aspx?Lid=2862-8062014), it looks WAY more yellow in person.. It was lovely!

I love any colors really, I’m not too hard to please :)

Don’t even ask how much purple jewelry and fabric I have. I run straight to it & then realize I don’t need any more.

My all time favorite color is red. rrrrrr….

Red blackberry. Red car. Red bathroom. Red silk drapes in the dining room.

And by far, the very best color of nail polish is OPI’s “I’m Not Really a Waitress” red. Yes, get some. It will even make your toes feel sexy.

I’m a cerulean lover. I love all shades of blue. I’m a cool color person.

My MIL had all the walls in her house painted canary yellow and it drove me crazy after we bought the home and repainted. I like certain shades of yellow!

Honestly, I don’t have a favorite color…but I have a favorite color group. I’ve always been drawn to cool colors…greens and blues mostly and I can even like the right shade of purple. They make me think of the earth and grass and forests and coolness!

I used to have a love affair with yellow. For a decade, my letter/email closing was “Love and Sunshine, Jen” because of the color yellow. My first adult purchase was a gorgeous butter yellow couch, and I collected yellow for every room in the house. My first interview suit was pale yellow and black (it was the late 90s!). When my son came home from the hospital jaundiced, we jokingly played Coldplay’s “Yellow” and I still get teary over “I swam across/I jumped across for you/Oh what a thing to do/Cause you were all yellow”–uh, more on the love sentiment and not that he was actually yellow.

Yellow is bright and cheery and happy and young and all things Good.

I can’t say I know why, but it’s changed for me. The kids ask me now what my favorite color is and I say green, but I fondly think of yellow like the “good” boyfriend with whom it didn’t work out but you only have good things to say about him.

Bet you I couldn’t write a whole blog comment about green though.

Purple. =) Or really, I like a certain mixture of colors, if that makes sense? But my true love affair, it seems, is with purple. =)

I do like yellow, though. It looks awesome with turquoise, and, well, purple! =)

I adore the color yellow as well, it makes my heart happy and my soul smile. I have the most FAB yellow purse and vintage yellow knitted headwrap(?) thingy, lol! (It’s cuter than it sounds, I promise!)

Glad to see I’m not alone in this crazy color obsession!

This makes me swoony. Did you know that my wedding colors were pink and yellow because I love them both so much, even though people asked if I asked picked Easter colors (I did not, I picked happy colors). My groomsmen wore yellow vests and daisy buttioneres (I have no freaking clue how to spell that) and it was so very pretty. Anyway, when I was pregnant with Luke, we had to paint the nursery yellow because I couldn’t envision a baby’s room in any other color, so I get your yellow love.

Actually, yellow is low on my color-like list. It’s so easy to get a pukey color of yellow. And I look rather pukey when I wear it. Gold, I can do. But yellow, not so much.

Green is my favorite! I have a fantastic green jacket, several green purses, and my new mei tai has quite a bit of green in it and I love it. My livingroom is a goldy-green shade, also.

I LOVE yellow! I definitely don’t have enough of it though. I think I need that wall art. And you look like a movie star in that picture! My color obsession has been navy blue. It can go with so much and looks great with bright color accents! But now, I need to go on the hunt for yellow things. It’s such a happy color- especially during these drab winter months.

I actually LOVE the color that is primarily on your blog, sort of a “spa” blue/green. That’s my “zen” color… But I can totally dig your love affair with yellow, especially the way YOU present it. Such beautiful things…

Deep, rich purple is what gets me every time. Also there is one particular shade of blue, kind of a deep greenish blue that I don’t see very often, but I do love it!

My kitchen walls are yellow, very yellow. I have been living with it for about 2 years now and I am still not sure that I like it! The trouble is I can’t think of what I want to replace it…

I am ALL ABOUT white walls too! Our new (to us) house has brown walls (mushroom? Taupe?) and I HATE THEM. My family teases me all the time because I want them WHITE.

I love yellow kitchens, but my my color is blue. Blue speaks to my soul!

Purple! I love purple. I have a beautiful purple wool coat and right now I carry a purple purse. Love it. For my home I am drawn to slate blue kinds of colors because they are peaceful.

I do think that chair is awesome and you should have it. And I love the idea of a white kitchen.

My children talk a LOT about favorite colors. Like my 5 year old daughter, my favorite is red. But that’s not a good color to use in decorating although last year we bought a wonderful deep red and khaki sectional. I just painted my living room a sage green that I love. My wardrobe is generally black and gray with bright colors like red and hot pink thrown in. So much so that my 5 year old once asked me if I HAVE to wear black to work. (She doesn’t understand that I operate under the dilusion that it makes me look thinner!)

I just had to reply becuase we have had this discussion recently. I am OBSESSED with purple. My little crush on purple has turned into a full on love affair. I painted my daughters room purple and bought a purple purse so I could look at a little purple everyday. It brings me joy when I see something purple. Like your yellow… That is a good trait to have. To see the joy in little things, like a color. Good post =)

Beth- I too love yellow but sadly it looks terrible on me. For a long time I was in love with a shade that can only be described as mulberry. My newest love affair- well not really new- this has been going on for about a year now- is the color Champagne. I LOVE it. Oh & super pale ballerina pink. Not sure what it is- but I am so drawn to those colors. Oddly enough- you would think fushia is my favorite- I look at my closet and I seem to have a lot of that in there. Maybe it’s because I am so pale- so I need something to give me a little color in my cheeks :) Besides- living in the desert- I see a lot of brown & earth tones – so I am always adding bright colors to my day. Funny that I don’t consider those brights to be my favorites.
