Friday Morning Coffee

January 14th, 2011

Do you ever have those morning where you wake up and after just a few minutes, before the coffee even touches your lips, you feel energized and wide awake?

It doesn’t happen to me often, but when it does, I revel it.

Today? Is not one of those days. My eyes feel droopy, my arms and legs feel like they weigh a thousand pounds, my muscles are achy. Honestly, I just want to nap.

I just put Eli down for his nap, I see him in his monitor, he’s still wearing his red fleece sleeper with puppies on it, he’s on his belly with his bootie up in the air. Oh man, so cute…so comfortable.

Maybe I should take just a 15 minute snooze, drink a cup of coffee and see where that takes me.

…

I’m back and yep, I think that’s just what I needed. Not that I’m full of energy but I no longer feel like a big droopy mess.

Here are some scenes from this week:

First, my new business cards arrived. I am totally smitten by these lovelies. Even more so because I designed them! (front and back pictured.)

new-cards

and here’s my new baby, my iMac. If you look closely, you can see my dead laptop in the background. She came back to life for a few days, we had a few joyful moments together and then…she died again.

May she rest in peace.

Luckily, I have this beauty to take her place! I am IN LOVE. Many people are asking about my transition from PC to Mac and I’ll tell you, it’s been pretty fun, pretty seamless, totally worth it.

lover

Don’t you love my mouse pad? I bought it from Etsy.

and here’s a photo of my littles. They are all playing with Eli’s toys. I love the way Anna and Noah start to play with Eli and then they get distracted by baby blocks or Weebles. Seriously. I love it.

playtime

And by the way, Eli is playing with my nursing pads from Sister Sue, they’re reusable and he absolutely LOVES them. He seeks them out and plays with them as if I bought them from Toys r’ Us!

And here’s a photo I took at a session last week, we were taking photos because this little one is almost a year old! It was so much fun.

I’ve been fielding a lot of questions regarding photography, which I love and am happy to answer. I am hoping to write up a post this weekend answering these questions. So, if you have any questions, feel free to ask on this post. I may not have the answers to everything but I can do my best to find the answer or find someone who knows. I’m happy to share. If it weren’t for people sharing so freely, I certainly would not know what I know now. And also, I have to give Clickin’ Moms and their amazing workshops a ton of credit, their knowledge is incredible.

Happy Friday, happy weekend!

I love them all! So beautiful. Noah reminds me so much of Carter there.

Your new business cards are gorgeous – both the design and colors.

We are thinking of switching to a Mac, too, since our computer is almost 10 years old – yikes! – and slowly dying. Glad to hear that the transition has been easy!

I have a photography question – is there an easy way to “switch heads” from one picture to another? For example, you take several pictures and one child looks good in one photo, but your other child looks good in a different one. How can you take the face from one photo and put it into another? Thanks!

    I have a photography business question…or two or three…
    1. When did you know you were ready to turn your hobby into a business?
    2. When you first started out, how many sessions were you getting each month?
    3. How did you get the word out?

    I think I’m ready but I’m nervous.

I love your photos. They always look so perfect and are very inspiring. My house is not well lit and most of my pictures are taken in the evening so when I don’t use a flash my pictures have a yellow/orange tint. Is there any fix for this other than using editing software?

I just love your business cards! SUPER CUTE! And don’t you just LOVE your imac??? I have been a mac person my whole life and I’m a little obsessed but there is no comparison when it comes to the simplicity of the macs! Especially for editing! I’m way excited for you! :)

I’m glad I’m not the only one who took a nap this morning. I woke up at 6:45 because my parents left (they stayed with us on their way through the area last night) and then I fell back asleep on the couch (because I’m currently on snowday #5) until 9 and I still felt sleepy and kind of depressed so I took a nap around noon and I feel so much better and happier now! :)

I love how you live in the frozen snow world and still 2 of your kids are shirtless while they play. :) Us southerners couldn’t handle that.

The new iMac is a beauty. I’m sure she’ll earn her keep real quick.

I haven’t had one of those energized mornings in a long time. Mostly as I making the coffee I’m pondering how to train the kids to make the coffee. Cause that would be energizing to have the coffee brought to my bedside while they demand breakfast.

Love everything about this post. Your cards and so beautiful. I love your design. And by the way, your kid needs some toys, really, you pen him up with nothing to play with.

True story: Wednesday I was upstairs, in the dark, soothing a kid to sleep. It was painfully boring and my mind was wandering and I thought “thank goodness at least I get to read Friday Morning Coffee tomorrow!” and then man was I crushed when I realized it was only Wednesday :)

I would love to know about your post processing!! And also, how did you know which Mac to buy? Eventually I want one too, but coming from PCs I have no idea which Mac to dream for!

Thank you for returning my emails re: the CM business workshop.

Oh, the photography questions I could ask! I have dreams of turning my love of photography into a business, no matter how small it could be. Rebekah @ It Only Gets Better had great questions, and I really liked her first one-how did you know it was time to take that huge jump? I also want to know what your post-processing steps are. Are you a LR girl? Or PS?

And I really need to start taking advantage of my CM membership! Maybe it will give me the bump I need, so I can put out amazing shots like you! :)

Welcome to the wonderful world of Macs!!! I love Macs, haven’t ever owned a PC for a computer at home (though I can use them better than most PC users and use them at work all the time). Macs have an awesome lifespan too! I am sure you have lots of other people that can help but if you ever had a Mac question I would be happy to help if I can! :)

    Gorgeous business cards!! Love.

I just love these posts. The little things from life can be so inspiring. The picture of your older kids “playing” with Eli are great. Love how they get distracted with his toys.

I love your new Mac! I still have my PC, however, I got the iPad for christmas and am forever in love!! <3 Someday I will get a mac when my PC's days have lived out … and I have to agree, transition is easy and totally worth it!

Love the new iMac. WOW. I’m still making out with my MacBook Pro every single day. No hiccups at all. So sorry to hear that your red baby died though :( It’s the end of an era for sure!

The kids are adorable! I love your new cards too. WOW. Great job on the design BAHMF.

    Love you!

I enjoyed my tea this morning, and I LOVE your business cards. I’m looking at computers, and have used both PC & Mac, and since I don’t do anything design-y on my computer I have such a hard time justifying the expense for less computing power. But they’re pretty! And fun! And sleek! And fun!

I made the switch from a PC to a MAC about two years ago and I love it! Of course we still have a PC laptop {that keeps crashing} but my MAC is my go-to. PLUS, they don’t catch any viruses! You are going to love it. They are so easy to use and after having used PC for SEVERAL years, I switched to a MAC without any issues whatsoever.
