One of the things I’ve heard recently, is that a few of you say that you look forward to reading my Friday Morning Coffee posts and I am being completely honest with you when I say that I love that and also, wow, that surprises me.
This morning, I had a newborn shoot. I’ve been doing lots of practice, studying, research and basically had a perfect baby today. The parents did everything I asked and it went amazingly well.
I love shooting images of all kinds, holding my camera fuels me like nothing I’ve ever experienced before, but newborns? Well, I’d like to make newborns my specialty. Next month I’m attending a workshop out of state, it’s a dream come true workshop for me and it’s focus is strictly newborns. I love that I have everything in place before hand. (a strong grasp in understanding good natural light, I’ve mastered manual, etc.) I’m hoping that upon leaving the workshop, my A Game will begin.
I’ve been offering free newborn sessions since about August, it’s important for me to not only build my portfolio but to also practice. With each session, I have learned so much.
So, this morning, when I should have been writing Friday Morning Coffee, I was with this baby, doing this:

It was probably a little better than coffee.
But I missed you, either way.

OMG. I love baby shots with the cutest hats. Kinda makes me want to have another baby just to have some. KINDA. lol.
Wow, you do have a gift. That hat is perfect for that little baby. I just love the light and soft glow you are consistently able to capture. Have fun at your workshop!
Oh.my.goodness. I so, so wish you were close so you could have done my Eli’s photos! I am blown away! Girl you rock! Anytime you want to visit the mountains of WY I want you to do our pictures. (oh and btw we share the same b-day, just a year apart)
she is the cutest sea anemone I have ever seen. I wish, wish, wish you were in Texas. My brother and his wife had their fourth baby today and I would love to have your eye take pictures of the sweet boy. Love your pictures.

Wow. Those are just absolutely amazing shots.

I love your photos and check most days to see what you have posted. These newborn pictures are wonderful! I have seen a lot of people try and not quite ‘get it’ when it comes to newborn shots, but you have it absolutely right. Thank you for the inspiration you provide!
You are SO talented Beth. How amazing for you that you found something you LOVE to do for a career.
oh. my. goodness. those are adorable pictures! love the last one.
It is a good thing that the Mr. had that surgery 5 years ago or I might be going up stairs to see if I could have one of those squishy babies. OMG! those pictures are awesome.
As I continue to make some big changes in my life, you are one of my inspirations. These are beautiful, Beth.
Enjoy your weekend.
Beth, you are a WONDERFUL photographer! My new grandson is due to be delivered by c-section on Tuesday (Jan. 25) …wish you could do his newborn pics but they are way too far away from you in Cookeville, TN…. oh, well…guess I can wish…
Sincerely,
Paula

Oh. My. Goodness. Those photos are ADORABLE and that last one made me smile and giggle and want another baby even though I’ve had 4 and we’ve decided that’s a good number! You’re killing me. Seriously. So stinkin’ cute! ;D
this didn’t post last night for some reason…
i know it’s for the love and passion of it all, but dang woman…you gotta start charging for those gorgeous works of art!
i’ve been following your blog and tweets for just a little bit now and your images are always inspiring. makes me all the more excited to hone my own photography skills when our little one comes.
keep up the great work!
That last one? That is how I feel when I’m working late at night. But I’m not nearly as cute.
I’m excited to see your pictures *after* you go to that workshop, because you’re pictures are pretty awesome to begin with.
And I need to master manual.
I LOVE the photos and those hats! The squint and that pink pom-pom Fraggle Rock hat. Adorable!
Oh. My. GOD!! Those are so amazing. I personally think you need NO workshop, but I am glad you get to go. It sounds fun! Enjoy
lovely photos. and the hats are the cutest. where do you find all of these cute baby hats?
your photos are so great! … i agree better than coffee
*gush* *gush* *swoon* she is gorgeous!! And that hat, makes me think of Abby Cadabby from Sesame Street. Great pics!!!!!!
oh my goodness BETH! love the work you’ve done. i find babies to be so hard to photograph. i’m thinking the key is photographing them young (as i’ve read everywhere) but it’s so hard to convince parents that those first 10 days are crucial. they’d rather wait till babe is 2 months . can’t wait to hear about the workshop!
I am just over the moon excited for you to have this workshop and I have to say it’s incredible having best friends that still shoot for the stars even at our “stage” in motherhood. I don’t know why I ever thought I couldn’t take risks or be daring with my dreams only after the kids grew up. Because what better example to lead them in life, in living, by them seeing our passion and drive. Same goes for everyone around you. So much is possible.
The photos are pure dessert.
Steph
You need to stop with these pictures, because they make me think, Well, maybe I WILL have another baby.
ok..here’s how my viewing your most amazing baby photos to date….”oh my gosh”…”OH my gosh”….”OH MY GOSH” ….each “oh my gosh” getting louder than the last….until Becca came running into the room to see what I was “oh my goshing” about……THESE ARE AMAZING…STUNNING….best photos to date….the last picture being so adorable it choked me up and I don’t even know this little bambino!!!! You are getting more awesome with each click of your camera lady!!!!!! keep up the good work!!!!! xoxo
Beautiful shots! Newborns are a ton of work, but yes something so wonderful about shooting newborns. My son was born 8 weeks early, so I got to practice on him as a newborn for a while

I JUST joined Clickin’ Mom’s this morning!!! And like you, I am completely overwhelmed by all of the information. But I’m really hoping to take advantage of all the great resources!!!
