Happy Thursday!
Remember way back when You Capture started, I said you could use an iPhone if you wanted, to take your photos, that you do not need a fancy camera? Well, I stand behind that thought.
I was in Chicago this past weekend, it was wicked cold and although I had my big, juicy, awesome camera with me, it was tucked all nice and snug in my camera bag and I came across a really cool set of red doors, so I took out my iPhone and snapped a photo and believe me, it’s a cool photo.
But apparently, you’ll never see it because it’s not showing up in my photos on my phone, just in the program I used to take the photo (Instagram), which is frustrating because it’s a cool photo.
You’ll just have to trust me.
Also, on the technology front, I’m posting from my new iMac! It’s a dream! But I can’t figure out where my Flickr uploadr went, so basically I’m having major technology fail and feeling like Erin’s husband. In other words, a really old man who shakes his fist at technology. (edit to add: found my uploadr!)
But I have this. My patio doorway. Not really what I had in mind when choosing “doorways” but that’s the beauty of You Capture, it can be interpreted in any way.
I love this picture for a million, trillion reasons, here are few: Eli’s hand, the pendant garland one of my best friend’s Mom made, I wrote “keep your promises” on my chalkboard and the kids and I had a great discussion on friendship and trust because of it and also…it’s my space. Which I like.

Now it’s your turn to share!
PLEASE READ THIS GUIDELINES, especially, yes, especially if you have never linked up!
1. Anyone can join in on the challenge at anytime.
2. Please make sure the photos you use were taken for the challenge, meaning do not search your archives for an appropriate photo. The goal of You Capture is to get you out taking photos each week!
3. Use YOUR photos.
4. When linking up, only link to your You Capture blog post, not your main blog URL. (incorrect links will be deleted.)
5. You MUST link back to You Capture in your post.
6. I encourage you to visit other participants and leave comments. This is a great way to meet new friends!

Happy Capturing!

Wow, that is an awesome picture!
Beth- I would love to know how you are doing with the new mac. I have been debating the move to mac for a while now & my boss even offered to pay the difference if I chose one over a pc- but I am still on the fence. I will be checking back to hear more
Aww…I’m sorry you can’t share your shot of the red doors. But that is a lovely scene in your kitchen. It looks so cheery and peaceful with the light coming in your patio door!
Such a lovely space with such lovely light! You’ll have to post that picture of the red doors if you ever get the technology workin’ for ya.
There are SO many reasons to love that photo. The lighting is gorgeous and yes the baby hand and the chalkboard are pretty awesome too…
I love the light in that photo!
I love this shot! The light streaming in the doorway makes it so warm and inviting!
By the way, I have an iMac and LOVE it!
I just linked up!
I love your photo! IT looks SO warm!! Whereas it is FREEZING here!
Loving the soft light in this photo! And I bet your red door photo was awesome as well!
Hey Beth! Great pic! I am also on instagram. I noticed the pictures I take on instagram show up in my upload screen (on my beloved imac!) when I plug in my iphone to sync. Have you tried plugging in your iphone into your iMac to see if it appears in iphoto?
Good Luck! Have a great day!
Hi Beth,
I understand why you love this photo. The lighting is beautiful, I love the little hand showing her entering the room and your story around the chalkboard text is lovely.
I am joining your challenge for the 1st time today, I don’t exactly have a doorway photo posted, but I hope that I am still welcome to join.
I have posted your banner permanently on my blog and I have linked back to both your blog and this challenge from my blogpost.
Have a great day.
Thank you again for hosting this! There are many great pictures around the “corner”!
Thank you for hosting this!
Great shots, every one!
I love this picture.
this is beautiful! i love what you’re doing to your spaces. tranquil yet inspiring!
Cheerful pic!
The explanation of your red doors picture has me curious, so I really hope you can get it uploaded sooner rather than later!
lovely bit of lighting & your tablecloth is just beautiful!
I just recently stumbled upon your blog and am loving this photo challenge! What a great idea! I’m in need of learning to use my camera better and this is just the excuse I need to get me to do it. I participated this week!
Great photo by the way!
Jenny
I’m enjoying participating in you capture. This is my second week. It’s great to have the motivation and ideas for different photos that I otherwise wouldn’t have thought of!
i have a photography question. why did you use such a high ISO for a pic that has so much natural light, or did it not have much light? i love your photos! also how did you not have noise at that level? i have a D90 and i’m scared to go that high bc of noise. thank you so much for your help!
I am always so curious about spot metering. Thanks for sharing this GORGEOUS and practical picture that shows the technique being put to such good use!!
Oh man. Except that old man Shane would ask if you bought your Mac at McDonald’s and he’d tell you that flickr is missing an E.

Welcome to the wonderful world of a Mac
. I love mine and will never go back. Do you do this meme every Thursday? I did 365 last year and am not wanting to do that again but need something, so I think I will have to start playing along.
Lovely shot.
Also, there was a glitch on my iPhone not long ago and I couldn’t see some of the photos on my phone unless I manually went through them one by one, so I ended up emailing myself the photo and then saving it on my computer. It was crazy.
