important announcement below.
Honestly, it’s like I like to torture myself. Why in the world would I choose to capture something as horrible and evil as cold?
But, I did and I’m hoping you did, too. Someday, when it’s 104 degrees outside (can’t wait) and I’m dripping with sweat just from getting the mail (can’t wait) and the only thing that makes me feel better is putting my feet in a pool full of cool water and grass clippings and probably some pee (can’t wait), I’ll look back on these photos and think “WINTER IS SO DUMB, SUMMER WINS.”
This morning. We actually saw it drop down to -8 but I was driving when that happened and well, driving and taking photos is frowned upon, of course.

This is only my 6,129th sighting of a snow plow. This week.

ISO 200 | F/11 | 1/500
and a cold farm. I like this farm, I pass it everyday and they use a clothesline. I love clotheslines.

ISO 200 | f4.0 | 1/5000
That’s enough of this cold talk. I’VE HAD IT UP TO HERE. (raises hand to eyebrows.)
Now it’s your turn to share!
*IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING YOU CAPTURE : beginning next week, You Capture will show up earlier in the week, either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning and resume on this schedule until further notice, this is so I can resume my American Idol recaps which is way more important than anything EVER. Warmth
Happy Capturing!

Yep…that’s cold!
Love that barn.
Love that farm shot! I think it’s a little unfair that you have to suffer through negative temperatures AND really high temperatures.
I hope the rest of your week is better than the first part has sounded.
I love red barns… but not the cold so much. I am waiting for the early spring that the groundhog promised. Hopefully by the time my daughter is born it will be warming up!
p.s. Not that it matters, but my vote is to have You Capture on Wednesday. Either in the morning or later in the day. Lots of bloggers participate in a Wordful/Wordless Wednesday carnival, which is usually Tuesday night.
yes your pictures are great but I’m tired of cold, I’m so glad you put warmth as your pick for next week!!!
I love that next week’s challenge is the exact opposite of this week’s. And I’m uber excited to see what you have in store for us!
Love the barn shot. Gorgeous captures as always!
Wow your area looks a lot like us here in Minnesota (minus the snowplows) we’re actually getting a break
I love the farm shot, just beautiful!
The farm shot is cool but I really love the first capture. The reflection of yourself in the mirror and the clarity of the center console. Awesome.
Looking forward to the You Capture move…although now I have to find something else to blog about on Thursdays
The farm shot is my favorite. Nice!
It’s not quite as cold here but I’m still ready for Winter to be over. Gorgeous snowy farm pic.
Oh wait. I just noticed the reflection of you in the first shot. Big smile from me.
I love the photo of the temp in your van! I’m sure you took it safely…and it turned into a really fun capture! Try to stay warm!
Great shots – the one taken in your car of the temperature is very clever! I am so done with winter too, it is just not normal to be 18F at 10am in the morning in Texas but that is what it is right here now!
I love the barn photo, Beth! I live in Indiana, too, and love all of the old barns that are around here. When the weather warms up (if it warms up!), I want to go out and take photos of as many as I can find.
I LOVE the farm shot. Beautiful! I always want to take pictures of the farms around here but I’m waiting until my nose hairs won’t freeze while snapping away.
I love the barn!
Love the red barn shot.
I’m always searching for old red barns to shoot…I’m just so afraid someone will shoot ME..literally if I try to take pics!
I love the snow shots, even though I am sick of winter myself!
I love clotheslines too. I can’t wait to see what you have in store! Also, my hubby and I love Idol, so I’m looking forward to your reviews.
Great photos!
I love all your captures of cold … but not the cold!! Warmth is much better!
Love the red barn against the snow.
Yes, I’ll admit getting out in this cold was a challenge, but being forced to grab my camera for a little outing made it well worth it. So thanks, I think
either way, next week looks to be promising!!!!
Your barn in winter shot is lovely! I always slow the car when passing brilliant red barns contrasted in the snow
i have had it w/ the cold too
We were at a -23 this morning, and I had no water because my pipes were frozen – for the second time in a week! I definately agree that Summer wins!
Such beautiful pictures of such an unpleasant topic! I don’t know how you made a snowplow picturesque but there’s something about it on that cold, sunny road that is actually quite interesting – maybe the splash of color! Anyway, to my surprise, I really like it!
I cannot wait until it’s 104 degrees. I am going to be so excited and wearing flip flops and it’ll be GOOD.
I really like the snow plow picture. I’m not sure why, but it’s just really pretty and usually plows don’t look pretty (unless I see them parked in a lot on a 104* day, then I am just thankful that they’re not being used).
I absolutely love the trees lining the road & that red barn is great.
Love the cold picks. Found some daffodils at the store the other day – despite the fact that we too are still buried under the snow and cold. its my little promise that spring is coming sitting on my window sil that gets me through the cold grey days.
Love your shots! I think the first one with you in the car is my favorite. It sure looks cold there.
wow. seeing that – sign before the 5 makes me feel bad for complaining about the sub-freezing temps here in NC.
great pics, as always Beth!
Sarah-Anne
Brrr…it is cold this winter. Love the second photo.

Love the farm shot! It was fun to try and get some good pics in our snow this morning. I love reading what you write about photography! You have motivated me to (very slowly) experiment with switching to manual and adjusting my settings. Love when I get a good one (and that I can delete the rest)!
That’s seriously cold! I cannot complain about my temps when there are people dealing with below zero!
I’m looking forward to hearing about your changes to You Capture as well as checking out the AI recaps. I thought that American Idol was going to be lame this year, but I’m loving Steven Tyler and Jlo!
I love barns. But I hate winter. Great shots!
love all of your shots, the farm is beautiful, I think I want to live there. It does look cold though! This morning when I was sitting in the car at the bus stop with Jenna, it said -12 the whole time. Gross. That’s just wrong.
Love your shots. It’s not to often that we see negative temps on the thermometer. Ours hit -10 this morning! I am you…so over winter. I like the one of the snow plow….very telling of the season.
WOW. that is WAY to cold
! I really like the first and last shot!
Wow that is cold. I really love the first and last shot
!
These are gorgeous pictures.
I hate winter too. Summer must always win, pee pee pools aside.

My car thermometer only goes to zero. If it went lower, I would probably set it on fire (it was like minus 20 here last week).
I loathe winter.
Oh Beth,
I just didn’t have it in me to search for “cold” pictures this week – so I did not participate. {When does Summer arrive?} But, wanted to thank you for not giving up “You Capture” completely for American Idol. I’m not an American Idol fan, but I do love YOUR photo challenge best! Thanks for not burdening us with a lot of rules for the challenge…. I’ll just leave it at that – although I’m dying to whine about others who have too many rules….but I won’t. =/ I’m already too busy thinking up photos for “warmth!” =) ~Sally
Great shots this week. Love that shot of the barn. Gorgeous lighting and color! Makes cold actually look good…which in reality I’m ready for it to get lost.
Not that my opinion really matters that much…cuz it’s your blog, so you’re the boss. But I’ve always LOVED that YouCapture is on a Thursday. It’s special…and there are already a bazillion challenges on Tuesdays/Wednesday. So I will be sad to see it move.
But, I understand.
Beautiful pictures!! Love the snowplow one, not sure what it is about it but it just seems perfect, and all three of those pictures made me shiver!!
Hi
I’m a newbie and plan to play NEXT week
heheh
Oh, I wish our roads had that little snow!
We’ve gotte so much snow the last couple of days that the roads are terrible to drive on
Lovely and beautiful shots again!
We had -20c this morning…..
